Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Whoever thought it was ok to ok Port's jumper should be shot. Massive clash. Predominantly red to all red Port. What a joke, the commentators had a terrible time getting the players right.

I think the last 2 years Casey have come to the party with the players they have recruited. Munro, White and Buntine are quality, but it's also there lesser likes that are quality too. Ellison looks the goods and Melbourne could do worse than recruit him as a rookie. Grey, Shepherd and Edwards look like they can play at VFL level. The premiership is Casey's to lose.

NO CONFUSION by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons took more than half a game to crack Port Melbourne at Casey Fields on Saturday but when they finally did so, they were merciless and in the end, they took no prisoners.

What made Casey’s 58-point victory win so remarkable was the fact that even after late call ups to the Melbourne team that traveled to Adelaide deprived them of key players from their goal to goal line, the less experienced replacements all made meaningful contributions to the side’s overall performance as it went on its merry way to 13 wins on the trot.

Casey wore it’s indigenous guernsey and conducted a very special smoke ceremony in honour of the first people on the land. The closeness of the  colour combinations might well have thrown in some confusion in the early stages because, after the home team celebrated with a goal in the opening minute, the Borough had a purple patch with the slight advantage of the breeze to kick four goals (half of their final tally) in the space of 15 minutes to lead by 20 points. There was no panic as Casey reset to stem the flow but Port still held a handy three goal lead at the first break.

Thankfully, Kade Chandler was active in the early going for the Demons with lots of touches and a classy goal. He remained prominent for the remainder of the game. His role in helping the team peg back the deficit was pivotal in the second quarter with two goals including the one that gave Casey the lead by a goal as the game neared half time.

Port closed in on that lead twice in the opening ten minutes of the second half before the Demons finally broke the shackles to end any confusion as to which team was going to win the four points. They streamed to a 21 point lead at three quarter time before an eight goal to one final term emphatically settled the issue. Fittingly, the last goal of the day was scored by Chandler — his fifth — to cap off a great best on ground display with 29 disposals.

Not far behind Chandler were Luke Dunstan with his 23 touches including eight clearances and the hardworking Oskar Baker who was equally prolific in winning the football.

With only ten Melbourne listed players in the game, Casey was relying on more on its homegrown talent than it normally would and they didn’t disappoint. And it wasn’t just the more seasoned performers like Mitch White, Jimmy Munro and Matt Buntine who came to the party but also the so-called “lesser lights” who were in the thick of things. Players like Roan Steele, Luca Goonan and Miles Shepherd hit the scoreboard and Riley Baldi, Jack Bell, Corey Ellison and second gamer Ryan Valentine all stepped up to the plate. The latter was robbed of a goal by the three quarter time siren.

Jayden Hunt, Trent Rivers and Bailey Laurie were all solid contributors and wait in line for the door to the Melbourne side to open for them.

The competition for spots in the the team will heat up next week when Geelong’s VFL side plays host to the Demons on Friday night at GMHBA Stadium. If you can’t get a seat for Thursday’s AFL top-of-the-table, there will be plenty of room at the ground for you to support the team.

That was hard to watch I spent more time trying to figure out who was on what team rather than watch the flow of play.

Agreed. The commentators struggled too. It took them until half way through the 3rd quarter to call George Grey's name correctly. I don't blame them either. It was a mess of colour and I doubt these guys get remunerated for their trouble.

Some days you wonder at the quality of people running the game. Safe to say yesterday was a dunce level.

He’s almost a forgotten man Oskar Baker. Another very good game yesterday, only behind Chandler and Dunstan.  He’s run and pace was very good. Gains very good metres with long kicks. Some decision making at AFL level let him down but I wouldn’t be against seeing him get a chance if it happens.  He’s too good at this VFL level.  It’d be a huge shame if he was cut by the Dees simply due to our current surplus of wing options !!

Kade has been in the gym! Looked at those highlights and was fully impressed by his backside and legs, looks so strong through the core. Full credit to him for what must have been a power of work. I am thinking he must be close to seniors, Bedford deserves his go but Kade is bloody close. Shout out to the coaches as well. When I think of how TJ looked like a dish cloth all those years ago (with a to die for field kick it must be said) that lackadaisical approach is long gone.

Rivers & Hunt .... while they did ok i dont think either did themselves any favours for a potential call up (barring through injury).

I believe that Riv was sent back to Casey because the coaches felt other clubs played through his opponent, he was a bit loose.
I would imagine that when he tightens up his game he will go back to the AFL.

No doubt he'll get back at some point Dante.  Not sure that'll happen while we are winning though, unless there's an injury to a similar role player.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
