Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFLW Draft 2022

Recommended Posts

A long wait for the Dees to get in on the action with picks 44 (24), 49 (27), 72 (39), 79 (43).

But some good news from the first rounds with a few Casey players picked up:

22. Hawthorn - Lucy Wales (Casey Demons)

32. Essendon - Stephanie Wales (Casey Demons)

That was some good predicting on the Wales twins by you, @Meggs

Funny, I just quoted your post in the VFLW thread.  Yes, expecting the Wales twins will thrive at their respective AFLW teams.  Looking forward to meeting them against the Dees.

While we wait for the next pick, another Casey Demon selected.

This time it's Charlotte Blair, who put together some good games after coming up from the NAB league. She goes to Collingwood at #56.

It's a pass for the last pick.

To re-cap, that brings the list to 29:

23 existing, Wilson (Carlton), Ivey (Geelong), Mackin (rookie), Chaplin (pick 44), Johnson (pick 49), Gall (pick 72).

Not counted are Colvin and Watt, both on the inactive list.

Time will tell, but as of tonight we can say we've picked some future champions of the mighty Dees!

Gee, hope this is true, she is uncanny around goals.

Does she replace Gaby Colvin who will miss the entire season 7 due to an ACL?

I just see her as s brand new recruit.

If we're able to pull this off this will be a huge get for us! Just adds further fire power alongside Harris.

Some very exciting players coming in, I was sad to see Scotty and Parry go but overall we haven’t been pilfered by the expansion teams the way many others have, we’ve kept the core of our group together and added some quality.

Duffy is a huge get! Small forwards were our weakness the last few seasons.

Losing Colvin is the only big downside this year as she was stellar last season. Hopefully Browny or Wilson as the new recruit can step up.

23 existing, Wilson (Carlton), Ivey (Geelong), Mackin (rookie), Chaplin (pick 44), Johnson (pick 49), Gall (pick 72), Duffy.

Out: Scott, Parry, Petrevski, Magee, Tarrant, Simmons

Edit: I missed that Tarrant had left, that hurts particularly with Colvin’s injury as she had played some decent footy swinging back. Excited for the season ahead, go Dees!

This has been an amazing trade / draft period for the club. To keep the core of this list together when so many other teams have been significantly affected is huge. Colvin is a big loss, but we have 3 clear best 21 players coming in to replace her. Well done to all involved. If we can keep our better players on the field, another big year awaits.

Once again we are aiming for the top end of the ladder.

All too much made of this years draft, full of a lot of 17 year olds who won't play because of when the season is now played i.e. end of year 12 for them.  And with 4 new teams the talent is spread extremely thin.  Worse is that all the selections were compromised by the priority picks handed out.  So for MFC picking up experienced players, while retaining the existing list largely was exactly the right strategy.

Apart from Gall, the others are ready to play this year, and we know what they can do.

Both Chaplin and Johnston can hopefully fill the hole created by the loss of Colvin ( big ask I know).  The addition of Duffy is another huge positive.  Goal smart and strong, she is what we have been missing up front, and once again is ready to go this season.

Us and Adelaide (Unfortunately) have done well in retaining our lists compared to others.  Which says a lot about our respective cultures.  What is to be seen is how they design eh home and away fixtures and who it favour.  I imagines the expansion teams will be playing each other primarily.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
