Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Kysaiah Pickett could show no further improvement for his entire career and still never be out of the best 22 of a premiership-contending side.

Also, he's still just 21, and definitely showing signs of continuous improvement.

One thing I have been wanting to see the last few weeks was an intent to tackle to hurt opponents. All within the rules, but statement tackles. Was so pleased Thursday.
Picket tackles in a way that opponents are always keen to know where he is on the ground.

I thought he was very good on Thursday. I tend to watch him closely off the ball. I have never seen anything like his chasing. He sprints even when it is likely the ball will be gone. His pressure and inferred pressure is outstanding.

He is a gem. All of the Pickett bloodline brilliance and toughness, strong sense of playing fair and elite  defensive efforts.

I am so, so happy we drafted him.

Could become one of the all time greats.

The thought of us playing in a GF without Kossie ( and his uncompromising football defensive skills and his cat like pouncing on the ball and goaling plus his beautiful joy and love of the game in his smile ) has me in a wet eye state.

Just not negotiable in any situation  I can think of.

There's a few on this site who have knocked him for not kicking enough goals but I think that is really undervaluing the defensive efforts and one percenters he puts in.

Opposition defenders must get the ball and then the first thought must be "where's Pickett".

As said above, I love the charging from 10 to 20metres he does to just put pressure on the kicker.

Never gives up.

There will be a wonderful turnover reel by the end of the season where Kozzie has harassed defenders and the spoils have resulted in goals for us.

Spargo, Bedford and Kozzie are comin for ya. Lookout!

Thank god you linked the original and best version of this song (the original), and not the Nazareth cover which too many people think is the original.

I thought the original version was by the Everly brothers?

"Greivous Angel" is one of my all-time favourite albums and still sounds great today.

It's a shame that Gram Parsons is not more widely recognised.

Great song, great album, all time great muso.

That song is actually not on this playlist, but is in spirit (designed to be played in order).

Your reference to inferred pressure is very apt - they just don’t know where he is and when or how he will pounce.

And I love his second and third and fourth efforts.  I well remember at least two goals in 2021 where he ran from half back, gave, received, gave again and received and goaled. One was v North and the other at the G may have been v GW$.

(At 1:26) when this happened I thought Kozzy had an identical twin who nobody knew existed. 🤩

edit: @monoccular this one is from round five this year vs GWS

Not wanting to start a seperate thread but looking for a spot to comment on the Koz...please bear with me.

Sometimes you watch a player more than most others and you can get a bias going, one way or another. I have been wondering why in the forward line, many bomb it to the goal square, and Jake lever, whom Id say is a smart footballer,  did it twice on Thursday. Once when Kozzie was open. Kozzie makes an option inside 50 very regularly (to my rose coloured glasses), but is almost always ignored. Toby looked for him Thursday and kicked it over his head and nearly out of bounds, Kozzie of course, did the rest with his superb balance.

My point is that Kozzie would score a lot more if, as well as being a defensive forward, he was labelled a target. I think it is a mindset of the players about who to look for. I saw this as well with Jack Watts who was a smart forward but was left hungry too.

And I mean bombing it to the square every [censored] ing time without thought?

Hoist by my own Ricky Petard, it would seem!

I've had that album since 1978 and in my mind's eye I always thought they'd misspelt the title as "Greivous".

Was nervous this was an injury thread..

Let's not be surprised or Picketts intent hurt people when he tackles.

I mean, he's uncle is Byron Pickett lol

Byron was build like a brick outhouse though. You wouldn’t normally expect a featherweight small forward to tackle to hurt. I love that he does!

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
