Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The inconvenient truth about this is that guys are open but the decision making (and execution) is sub par. Its a problem that plagued the team in 2019 and 2020. Decison making is not easily solved. Its easiest rectified by changing the decsion maker.

Clarry has had 82 inside 50s for 8 goal assists

Charlie spargo has had 41 inside 50s for 9 goal assists

A similar type stat showed Petracca has kicked it 40 times into 50 without a mark being taken  (I may be off on this)

ANB 42 inside 50s, 12 goal assists.

Out midfield could do with a little bit less grunt and hack forwards and a little more polish.

Give Spargo a 5 to 10 minute rotation through the middle each quarter, particularly at centre bounces. Viney or Petracca up forward.

I wouldn't worry too much. May has missed 3 games in a row and we lost all of them.

Last time Salem was injured it took him a few weeks to hit form again.

Oliver and Petraccas inside 50's can't be compared to Spargo's who kicks  it half the distance they do.

JVR will play later in the season and make our forward line unpredictable again. Goody will leave it as late as possible with coaching funding caps other teams won't know enough about him.

"I don't know why you're tipping Melbourne" with a laugh, and then tipping Brisbane "to win convincingly" - Just like he tipped every team 'to get it done' against us in each final last year 🤦‍♂️

Ross The Toss predictably sour that we got it done last year, still.

Still wonder why this game gets so over complicated.

No team in the AFL can score well if the ball comes in with 15+ oppo players behind it. The skills just aren't good enough and there just isn't enough space for any margin of error.

For at least the last 15 years, the team that wins is the one that applies the most pressure. Apply pressure, get the ball back from half back or forward of there, your kicking skills can look great and you can score (and all these fringe players that everyone thought had all of a sudden become modern greats, who have now started looking like plodders again, all of a sudden will look great again).

Our pressure has been abysmal and frankly a bit embarrassing that we get outhustled by teams like Collingwood every year.

This is all in the players court. Forget Goodwin, he's given them a formula to win and they couldn't have better proof that it works.

If they want to go the Hollywood route and think they are above the need to apply high levels of pressure to win games then there's a big shock coming.

Such a shame that Goody has gone above Ross on the premierships coached ladder.

Premiership coach Simon Goodwin vs ex-coach Ross Lyon. 😁😁😁

And what has Goody done? Nothing. FFS move anyone of Bowey, Brayshaw or Salem in the attacking half . It’s not rocket science. I don’t know what he’s expecting the same midfield and HFS to do any different.

Is this the old”Is Goodwin the right guy?” resurfacing? FFS!

It may not be rocket science, but we won three finals last year by an average of 74 points with none of the above in the attacking half. Oh, let me think – I think he had pretty much the same midfield then as he does now?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
