Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Win out is the only option now. We've had our last loss for 2022 if it is to be

Yep, Freo drawing with Richmond in the end really killed us. We can’t go 1-1 coz they’ll likely win both their remaining games and scrape into 4th via 2 points. Richmond are almost as useless as us in taking their opportunities…

Winning 2 will get us 2nd or 3rd

I can't handle waiting out on other teams to determine our fate.

Win the next 2 or bust. Should never have lost to Collingwood twice, should never have lost to the Bulldogs.

After the huff and puff of this round, we are still third and it really is in our own hands. Win the next 5 and we go back to back. After 17 in a row earlier this year, the trick for Goody will be to block out the external noise and challenge the lads for another mini Demon charge. It may not end this way, however, I am hoping to revisit this post in 6 weeks time!!! Go Dees.

Plan to buy a Saints scarf tomorrow in the hope they can win their last 2 and do us a massive favour, and for themselves.

Gee this has been an arrogant season from the club, through admin to the coaches and players and down to the supporters. We are heading for a big serve of humble pie.

Absolute nightmare scenario to cop the Dogs in the first final. We will legitimately be putting our season in the hands of the incompetents in yellow, with a very likely 10 vs 25 free kick count. AFL umpires love nothing more than piling on to a narrative, and the whole league will be salivating at the idea that the MFC chokes away a 10 zip season start without a whimper.

What makes you think it’s been arrogant? Genuine question not snark

for me the players have seemed a little jovial pre game unlike the recent freo away game. Sh5t s and giggles

Lack of strategy change when things keep not working out

going defensive in second halves - need killer instinct - attack! (Unless there’s a systemic fitness issue)

sucks we’re relying on everyone else again (was it 2017 and 2019?) - then again it’s on us to control what we can and that means winning the last 2.

in any case the season review will be interesting re what went right and what need fixing

Fox Footy reckons this will be the first week of finals.

Swan's missed an opportunity for a big percentage boost today - they got a little bit probably not as much as they would've hoped. They have Pies and Saints last two games, if we win out I think we still finish above them.

Feels dirty but I'll be barracking for the Pies this week in the hope we get them week 1 of finals.

I'd rather the swans win, that would push us to 2nd (if we win both) and we would play a QF against them rather than against the pies. Would much rather Geelong take care of the pies while they're hot.

I'd like to think we'll beat the Blues by 30 points and I feel like we've got the wood over the Lions too. Can't take any win for granted but I think we're still a chance for top 2

Yeah maybe - if we're going to run the table I think we have to go through Collingwood again either QF week or PF week (or even GF if they happened to finish 4th and beat the Cats). Just depends when you would prefer to play them.

There's also a chance Swans go above us on percentage so would rather lock in a MCG final so we can actually go!

Nothing is certain. We should beat the Blues given their starting 22 issues atm, but they will come and come at us hard.

Brisbane is 50/50 in my view and will be a tough slog.

Really hard to get a read on the players confidence, but it would have taken a beating on Friday night.

I see us going 1-1 and finishing 5th. We are walking the same path as the Doggies did last year. Late drop in form, crappy tail-end fixture/draw.... Bevo found a way to galvanize the group and get them to September. Hopefully the coaching group can do the same.

6 games with leads of 20 plus points.. all ended up losing. This is on them, simply not good enough. We "Should" beat the blues, but i thought we should beat the dogs and we should have beaten the pies, so there is no way you can go in with any confidence with us winning either of the last 2.

I don't think we can win it from 5th. We have to finish inside the top 4, we are a top 4 team and we will.

Imo the Collingwood game will be an outlier to our remaining 4 matches and we will steam roll Carlton and Brisbane. Collingwood are the best defence in the comp at preventing goals once the opposition goes inside 50. I not only attribute our poor inside 50 conversion to our players but also to their very good defence.

Brisbane and Carlton on the other hand are poor defensively and if we deliver anywhere near that sort of clearance and contested poss. dominance they are both very winnable games.

Granted Pies defensive strength, however their midfield game is quite poor (as the stats will tell you) hence why we got inside 50 so many times. We wont have that same luxury next 2 weeks.

i agree on the Pies game being an outlier - more so the score rather than our game as we actually played well. Their game is so unsustainable on so many levels. You would expect that they will get found out in the next month. Geelong on the other hand look formidable. To dismantle the Saints without Blicavs, Danger & Selwood is being underplayed big time. I think they will win this year and do it comfortably.

Put a few bucks on a multi consisting of Brisbane- Fremantle - Collingwood to all win this weekend.

It’s Paying $4.92 and it will probably come up considering barely any result has gone our way in the last month or so.

I may have this totally wrong because I’m sick and tired of going through the permutations but it will also be important to get a percentage boost against Carlton and hope that the Swans v Ferals is a close one.

That way we would have the first final at the G and not in Sydney

All we can do is win then positions in the eight  will be whatever turns out and play from there. In the last 6 weeks we have squandered the first ten weeks of the season. About the best I can see for us is a prelim final loss. Injuries and form have been poor and it is difficult to see that changing. So will end 2022.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
