Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Finishing 2nd.  First final vs Freo at the G.  Perfect!

Lets see how Freo would go with a crowd of 70,000 dees fans hungry to see a dees final on the Hallowed Turf, rather than the 25K they played in front of a month ago.

Not to mention with a healthier team not decimated during the game by injury to key players.

You'd take it right now if on offer! That return game in Perth goes a long way to securing this.

Agreed.

We have return games vs Freo, Coll and Lions.  We've lost to the first two.  I feel we really need to win at least one of the games vs those 3 teams and this week vs Lions is a good place to start.

They will all be full of confidence for the return games (on their home turf) so very keen to beat Lions this week.

This weeks game against the Lions is so important.

We simply must win, the following week we have Adelaide at AAMI.

Other games this week include

Dogs v Hawks

Blues v Freo

Cats v Tigers

Swans v Saints

Port v Suns

The deeper into the season we go the more it becomes a mental game and mini finals occur.

Yeah I guess it's easy to forget there are going to be knockout games league wide.

💯,  as we know we’ve lost 3 in a row at home, we’re tied for points with the Lions, this is a must win. Get the job done on Thursday, we should be able to account for the Crows and then reset and go again. Lions have the Bulldogs the week after (and they trouble them) so all going well we could be potentially 2 games clear of them.

But we must bring the heat this Thursday night. I’m flying down Thursday morning and I can’t bloody wait.

If all this loading theory is true, then we had season 1 (first 10 matches), loading phase (11-13 plus bye).  Now we are at the season 2 (last H/A games) before the final action.

It all begins again this week.  We really need to get back to kicking winning scores and winning games THIS WEEK, and create the dominance that sets us up for the finals.   We have been poor going forward the last 6 weeks, this has to change.

If we are serious about going back to back, then no team should scare us anywhere.

I have no doubt if we prepare well now and aren't hit too hard by injuries, we can win from outside the top 4.

If we prepare well and aren't hit too hard by injuries, we should finish top 2. But I take your point, I reckon after last year, we can win from anywhere in the top 8. But the variable will be how much of a rest the GF/Prelim opponents will have. And are we back to the round 24 bye, or do we have another pre-gf bye?

There's plenty of evidence (MFC last season, Chris Scott's comment from the weekend to name two) to suggest there is another 4-5 week block of loading to come.  Don't expect the form and execution turnaorund to happen until at least rounds 18 or 19.

God I hope not.  That was horrible last year.

Our best is still the best by a fair margin!

No team has got close to what we showed in last years finals!

While we haven’t played at that level this year, at least we have proven we can do it before, and once we come out of our loading, and have a good injury run, the rest of the comp will need to catch us!

Leave MFCSS behind, just go back and look at last years finals again!!

Looking at the evenness of the top 12 teams and ESS, GWS and WCE threatening to beat better teams - we could see 13 wins necessary for getting in the 8 but 14 wins might get you top 4…

Then the pre-finals bye makes it even more even.

That pre GF bye was a COVID once off, thankfully.

The pre GF bye probably meant May plays on the day, keeps Naughton to naught and we win by 74 points... just saying.

There's an alternate universe out there with a 2021 pre-finals bye, with the Lions kicking straighter in their WB semi, Daniher kicking 8 on us without May in the side and a 70 page "We should've taken Daniher over Brown" post on DL. 🤮

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
