Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

  • What would be your take on stopping the midfeld? I feel that Petracca is down on last year and is probably playing through an injury but Oliver is still racking them up. Do we send Berry to him or feel that the team defense will be able to cover. Personally I feel we shut him down and send Berry to him.

  • Petracca is the much more dangerous player and teams are winning by sitting on him. Oliver does not have the hurt factor that Petracca has.
  • News of Max injury released.

  • Don’t like seeing injuries but will help the cause especially for our midfield.

  • Personally would prefer to play a fully fit Demon’s side to see where we actually stand.

  • I'd rather win and not know where we stand than lose and know because at this point of the year there's not much more we can do to improve our side.
  • Who knows . Gawn mightn't come back as the Gawn we've seen so fa this year.  I'm not going to pretend it doesn't really help us and as much as I don't want to see anyone get injured I'm not unhappy about it.
  • Just beat them and get the win. Season's too close to call so we better win regardless of whose playing.  Winning at MCG would be a nice change / confidence booster too.  Looks like the last win at MCG for us was in 2014

  • As it stands today, Melbourne are still the greatest threat to our Premiership aspirations so any advantage for us should be welcomed.

  • I don't agree that we are favourites to win the flag or even the minor premiership this year. I think as it stands Fremantle are in the box seat for that one.

  • I hate to be negative, but I am still waiting for that massive away win that as a club we havent had in a long time. Sydney away was good but not like what Dockers have been doing on the road against the big teams like Dees and Cats away.

  • With Gawn out, going in with two rucks and really working them over makes sense.

  • I disagree. If Big O can take Ryder & Marshall he can go it alone this week.

Nothing amusing or cheeky to put in the 'My favourites' list.

I work in springfield and drive past their facilities daily, really coming along nicely something we would be extremely jealous of.

Regarding their comments all seem pretty measured and bang on, don't mind brisbane... both teams in poor form but hoping we can get our season back on track.

Big round next week not just for our top of the table clash as all top 8 teams play a top 8 team:

  • Lions vs Dees
  • Dockers vs Blues
  • Cats vs Tigers
  • Saints vs Swans

Only two games (and some %) separating first and ninth (Collingwood) on the ladder.

All teams in good form.  Huge implications for the final 8 order!  And potentially who drops out of the 8 with the Pies knocking on the door.

I reckon Collingwood are a near certainty to make finals this year given their easy fixture, healthy list, form against the top 8 sides and the fact that they just have that damn good look about them this year. I'd consider it a scalp if we can beat them in round 21.

As for dropping out, I don't 100% trust St Kilda, Carlton or Sydney. Even we need to win 3 games which requires a huge turnaround in form.

So therefore I'm tipping Collingwood to come in and Carlton to come out only because they're getting slaughtered with injuries.

We lived in Springfield from 2011-14, the facilities are still coming along GCdee? They started digging next to Orion shopping centre when we living there, that’s almost 10 years ago.

On paper, Sydney have an easier run home than Saints and Carlton.  The last two spots are too close to call for mine.  Round 23 may decide who misses the 8:

  • Saints vs Swans
  • Blues vs Magpies

I'd prefer that Tigers didn't make it but they play 6 of the bottom 8 sides.  Could even fluke a top 4 spot.

All ladder positions could come down to round 23 when those games are played and we play Lions again.  I reckon we will win the 5 games to make top 4 with 15 games, altho it is so tight for spots top 4 might require 16 wins.

I've always really liked Brisbane. They have been my second team for as long as I've followed footy, and have always found their fans to be down to earth, knowledgeable and pleasant. This thread just proves it. Everything they've said is correct. Nothing over the top, happy Gawn is out but also acknowledge injuries are never nice to see. Not writing us off or big noting themselves, which they have every right to given they are 1st on the ladder.

If we lose the flag to anyone, I would be happiest if it's to one of Brisbane or Freo. Just PLEASE do not let Geelong or Carlton win it. 2022 has been rough as it is.

Or Collingwood

Or Essendon

.... I have gone with realistic options. I mean I suppose Richmond could pull off a miracle if Dusty drags them over the line again.

I mentioned Richmond only because they are on a roll, have a very easy draw and could easily fall into the top 4 and go from there.

Put simply, we're more than happy for the flag to leave the state 🙂

It's changed a lot in the last 5 years. The ground is leveled out and the grounds lights went up 2 weeks ago and all their facilities and admin buildings are well on their way, I believe completion is next year looks great!

Agree.  Fagan seems a top bloke, really genuine and down to earth (and a very strong Demon connection) and I always had a soft spot for Fitzroy. If it is destined not to be us this year, I'll be cheering the Lions on.

I think we have our answer on which team won't make finals.  Based on last night, it is the Saints.

Other contenders have an easier draw and playing more consistent football.

Had a quick look on Lions bf.  All calm still.  Slight optimism no pessimism.  The awe and fear has certainly disappeared from opp fans.

A bit of chat about going to the G:

  • This will be my first time seeing the Lions play at the MCG. Can't wait!!!
  • Jealous.  I have still never been to the MCG.
  • Same. Waiting for a grand final - first time at MCG =premiership.
  • Same - we're trying to save for the GF if we re fortunate enough to get in
  • Got my September membership ready to go.
  • It will be my first time in the mcc area - managed to snag a guest seat. very keen. Go lions!!

It is easy to forget how lucky we are to play and go to the G every few weeks.

My favourite:

  • My wife and I went to a game at the MCG back in 2011 while we down in Melbourne and were seated (inadvertently) about 10m from the edge of the Richmond cheer squad.  My wife ended up hoping the Tigers would win (they did) as she wasn't sure we would get out alive if they lost.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
