Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We will murder the filth on Monday.

That's always the problem playing Collingwood..would you prefer to win by 1 or 100. 1 is almost better.

My 7 and 9 year old boys had a punch on yesterday. 7 yo won. Gave them both a week. Mother wants to review it.

They are in their room playing nicely now. Bit like footy players.

Give the 9yr old a cuff up the ear hole.

He is in his bullying prime and should not let it go to waste.

Interestingly we lead the league in tackles inside 50, have conceded the fewest amount of points (even with a full game more on a quarter of the league who had the bye last round) and along with Collingwood are one of the best intercept teams in the league.

We are one of the worst tackling and worst pressure act teams (pressure act being chasing a team from behind). It could well be the way we play in that we rarely need to chase. Teams out tackle us given we are near the top in contested possessions and disposals. We win and have more of the ball overall. We also go forward more than any other team.

It could explain why our games haven't looked "good" all year. They have almost always seemed like grinds and they really have been.

Suggesting Collingwood "should" win though is a stretch. Why?

Teams have also played a lot of possession footy against us (Essendon, Port, Hawks etc) meaning less opportunity for pressure acts.

Purely based on form.

One side is on a 3 game winning with two of those wins against a top 4 contender and a premiership contender.

The other has lost two straight games to a top 4 contender and a premiership contender, on their home turf.

Not sure why Melbourne supporters are so confident in winning this one.

Collingwood also lost to WC.

I'm not confident and agree we shouldn't be based on form, but similarly suggesting Collingwood "should" win is still a stretch. They've played some good football and notched some good wins. They also lost to the Bulldogs by 9 goals and beat up a Freo side that at the time was going through an arguably worse patch on field than we are going through right now.

I respect what Collingwood has done so far but we're still the best team in the land. We should have beaten Freo and we should have beaten Sydney. Carlton should've beaten Collingwood. We should beat Collingwood. Form is important obviously but if either team *should* win, it should be the objectively better team. And that's Melbourne.

Let's show our team a bit of respect here.

i thought the match up was tough already (for similar reasons to why we lost last year), and wish I shared your confidence. I gave myself a lifetime ban a few years ago Spalding. Get all my footy news from 'Land. This way I know it's the truth.

I honestly can’t wait to see how we respond. I’m really curious to see if we steel ourselves or turn to water.

Regardless of how intense our attack on the ball is, our problems run deeper than just an effort level. Our forward line is completely at sea and we’re a long way off from clicking, so even if we do win, it won’t be by much as I think we’ll struggle to kick over 70-80pts.

Too deeply philosophical - does it man if you defeat yourself by bad kicking it gives more strength to do it again 🤔🤔🤔?

Yes the forwards are struggling a bit but for us to give this mob a hiding we need our full lot of mids to dominate in tight and on the outside and give some decent disposals to our forwards advantage. Trac needs to have a blinder on Monday and we need the lesser lights like Harmes, ANB and Sparrow to give Oliver a hand out. This happens and we win easily.

I’m now leaning towards a win on the proviso that we address our inside 50 issues. Not sure how easily rectifiable that is in the space of a week?

We played pretty damn well against Sydney from a contested point of view  (after a poor Freo loss) but let ourselves down with our entires inside 50s with the McCartins and Co reading so many of our entries.

We simply have to get on with the business without May. No excuses.

The Goulding long goal with 4 mins left clearly punctured out tyres on reflection, after constant failed inside 50 opportunities.

I just rewatched Watts sealing the deal on QB in 2017 on the AFL website: https://www.afl.com.au/video/772302/on-this-day-2017-watts-settles-queen-s-birthday-classic?videoId=772302&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1654977600001

The simple times... when we were bad and just got hyped to finally win a big game.

Now we're 10-2 and half our supporters think we're not doing well enough and that we should sack one of our best players. Ah well, I know which year I prefer to be living in :-D

The May saga does not break our culture - it allows us to reinforce it by calling out what breaches standards with honesty and clarity (Max and Goody’s pressers) and setting it to rights.  What busts culture is Bailey ‘Sniffer’ Smith - where bad behaviour is condoned, covered up or excuses are made.

This game for me comes down to handling and seeing off the Pies attempt at pressure, and fixing our structures and method forward of the ball.  We need to move it from contest with precision and  create space forward, rather than allowing flooding back in our f50 because we are too slow to move the footy.

hope we see a glint of steel in our game and we win by 50+.  Happy with 1 point win.

Something in what you say rings a bell in my thoughts: '...to give Oliver a hand out...' in conjunction with, perhaps, 'give a hand out to Trac and Gawn' (as these three a left to pick up the crumbs and create the plays with others so that our 'team' can fire). We seem to have lost a little control over working '...for one another...' and this is starting to have major ramifications on the progress of our game, and down the line, our forward and deep forward opportunities and related execution without turnovers. Gus does the most to help the trademark ball carriage and created plays. Langdon - coming back to form - is also critical to this mass of positivity; Salem - also returning to form one hopes - is going to be vital. Spargo and Kozzie must also be sought in nearly every forward-line entry either as pacemaker carriers or one-touch crumbers. We have the talent, the aptitude and the ability to return to our gladiatorial best - flogging the Filth - and providing downward pressure on the latent rises within top six positions on the ladder. Think, boys ... do, boys ... execute.

Don’t know what KFI means. But I defs have NFI what it means.
Unless you’re referring to the Ginnivan boy in his oversized shorts, in which case I do know. But it’s his three-sizes-too-small jumper that needs to be addressed. The huge shorts I’ll let slide since it seems the entire team wears them.

Uncle are you suggesting chaos theory applies here?

A bear attempts a dump in the woods on Saturday, remains seriously constipated until Monday arvo. Desperate for 'release', arrives at the 'G' disguised as Eddy Everywhere in costume. Gate crashes the BIg Freeze 8 pre-game celebrations. Takes the slide hits the ice bath, the shock to the stretch receptors is too much and the [censored] hits the fan. Colonwood boys forming a guard of honour, loyally take the hit.

Demons take the field to clean up the 'filth'.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
