Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would love an even harder stance (like NBA coaches) and just refuse to answer questions in regard to it, citing that both Max & Richardson have spoken on the topic and for him to only answer questions regarding to Monday's game and Daniher/MND.

AFL Players & Coaches are forced far too much to straight bat back to media reporters. They should just refuse to answer questions. In some instances in the NBA, certain players don't answer ANY questions from certain media reporters that they either don't like or feel they have an agenda, same with coaches as well.

In many cases you are right.

This has gone so far to the distortion of circumstances to create headlines that refusal to answer would trigger a new round of 'what are dees hiding'

It would be a hiding to nowhere.

This should be the last straw for any supporters here to ever think that the Media thinks of anyone except themselves. They are scum and feed off Clubs as how and who it suits. When a footy Club runs direct competition successfully against the Media, well...

I would ban the media after this game win or lose. In fact close the shop up as much as possible for rest of home season.

My opinion of Melksham has actually increased since this since he was the one sticking up for his teammate and questioning a leader for drinking whilst in recovery from a concussion.

I'll say it again, the silence from Melksham is deafening. He has the power to come out and explain what happened and what was said. We haven't heard a thing from him. If he reckons it is all done and dusted, as May does, why wouldn't he come out and back the club's decision and clarify his involvement.

He doesn’t have to do jack. Clearly the Club think so to, hence the “deafening silence.” How about trusting the Club’s decisions and handling of this situation?!

If we all stop giving it any thought it stops having any power. It happened. Move on.

Remember when Spargo and Pickett got suspended for taking an Uber during Covid, or when Oliver got caught drunk driving, or when TMac said vaccines shouldn’t be mandatory? I don’t really either - as I had to google all those stories to fact check.

None of these things matter if the team plays well together. Take a deep breath, picture Gawn holding the cup, and let it blow over. The footy media is just bored as we are in the bye weeks. Don’t get sucked in.

Unless it's a different time, my recollection is that Oliver was under 0.05% but because he was on his P-plates he needed to be zero. So, not drunk driving at all.

But the essence of you point is spot on.

My opinion of someone increases when they stick up for a teammate, and when one of the “leaders” is in fact acting like a complete tool. Melksham’s decision to use violence is something I don’t condone, but his actions behind it are far better than the actions of May.

I was listening to Radio National ABC this morning. Jack Snape and Patricia Karvelas taking about Melbournes wows this week. Not only did they get the story completely wrong they added the Simon Goodwin has lost all the players . At best the story they ran was total B/S at worse it was slanderous.  Jack Snape is their Sports Reporter.

Why? The Club have come out and we now know Jake was actually doing what they all should have been doing. I mean what was Hibberd doing. Who knows if the others tried to say something. We don't need to know those details. We know that Maysie was drinking when he should not have been and got aggressive with Jake when he obviously tried to temper the situation. There is fault on all sides. Maysie has now apologised in the media and to his team mates and hopefully Joel Smith in particular. Jake has apologised to his team mates. Why does Jake need to come out and say anymore. Also while I'm at it that poster who said that Jake would come out after his retirement and try and make money out of this well just goes to show how low some posters here will go. Some here with obvious bias must have had a wonderful couple of days.

I just hate all of this. I love May, he has been so good for our club, but i hate reading about what he has said and the way he has carried on.

I love Melksham and he has given a fair bit to the club as well, love that he stood up for himself and his teammate, absolutely detest that he used violence. Hate it.

Just hate all of it, leaves me with a sick feeling in my guts. Cant say too much more about it really. Its just a huge mess.

We’ve talked about May and we’ve talked about Melksham, but I’m wondering what Joel Smith is currently thinking? We haven’t mentioned him. By all accounts he organised the dinner and presumably asked the 5 or 6 others to attend. So a close knit bunch of guys, friends, going to dinner. Then Joel, by all accounts, is verbally denigrated by one of said friends. If I was Joel, would I want to be playing down back with that person any more? He obviously doesn’t trust or believe in me. I think I might ask Goody if I can train with the forwards from now on.

It will be interesting to see how (and if) the fences can be mended after this. I have my doubts they can.

Of course they can, if May is sincere in his apology to Joel and Joel accepts it and moves on. May is clearly a bad drunk and other than a couple of drinking episodes with us, has been a model citizen. Why wouldn’t Joel accept that it was the grog talking, if May is genuinely contrite and remorseful. The boys and the team will move on.

Win or lose on QB, the bye will allow the club to reset, regroup and reconfirm the way they want to play and behave.

Can anyone remind me if Whately called for an AFL Investigation, when DeGoey allegedly assaulted a man in the USA, by kicking and punching, after the victim was hit with a bottle, in company with a mate, in a nightclub, after allegedly, forcibly touching a female?

Did De Goey cop any punishment at all from the club or his leadership group? Did Whately question that?

Selective moral conscience is a wonderful thing!

Complete overreaction, what does he think the AFL will uncover that hasn't already come to light. Did we ever get a clear explanation as to what happened in the chop sticks scandal?

From all the available info it seems milkshake was defending those disrespected by May, probably why he was not suspended. May it seems could benefit from a visit to AA. I find it difficult to believe a "sorry" is going to fix things in the short term. Our chances of a repeat GF seems to have flown out the window. If we beat the pies I will be amazed.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
