Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bring JVR in.

You saw him play today? Kid would get slaughtered. He’s very promising fledgling VFL standard at the moment.

The sky isn't falling.  But we have proven to be over reliant on a few players - May missing, McDonald missing, Oliver missing for the first half, Petracca's numbers belie his complete lack of influence, Lever completely out of sorts.  Gawn plays one of the all time great games which makes the game closer than it should've been.  Lot's to work on but we are 10-2.  16 will get us top 4, 17 probably top 2.  We are still in a great position.

Have you seen our draw coming home? With this form I ain’t so confident we can bank 4 wins let alone 7.

Yeah look we aren't winning a flag this year. There is so many concerns on all lines and that's not even counting that our pressure is ranked 17th in the league.

Forget the umpires, our style of play from start to finish was horrible to watch. Why we continue to just rush all night by playing on or having one too many handballs to a teammate to then put them under enormous pressure is bizarre.

Backline has turned to [censored]. Steven May is now our most influential and important player. When he doesn't play the rest turn to water. That's an apology to Petty who battled manfully tonight.

Jayden Hunt has over 100 games of experience and he is still one of the dumbest footballers going around. Not forgetting he touched the ball 3 times tonight as a [censored] half back flank.

Jake Lever is horribly out of form and it's costing us. When we need some form of leadership while May is out Lever has failed to stand up 2 weeks in a row. Simply not good enough.

Our midfield is seriously all over the shop. Rushed handballs and dump kicks into either no one in particular or straight to the opposition. Petracca, Viney and Sparrow are huge butchers of the footy. Our efficiency going inside 50 is just horrific and these guys are main culprits alongside a few others like ANB who's not much chop either going forward.

Really think our midfield needs a huge shake up and I'd be getting Brayshaw in there personally just to add something different.

Don't get me started on the forward line.. I think this is a significant concern moving forward and beyond as the likes of Tom McDonald, Ben Brown and Mitch Brown are all 30 years of age or over, plus a former first rounder who is only a VFL standard player. Our only hope is an 18 year old kid who is still unknown.

All of these guys are either badly out of form or injured and I can't see this forward structure holding up this year.

Besides Pickett, our smalls are barely impacting the scoreboard. Spargo has only kicked 4 this year and ANB just the 2 goals. It's just simply not good enough.

All in all a very disappointing display. Our current game style won't hold up and we could easily be out of top 4 very soon if there isn't significant changes to it.

Spot on mate,.

We may need to recruit a decent tall forward for next year, but who'll be available?

Steven May hugely missed. The Lever-May combination has been crucial to the team's defensive structure.

As for tonight's continual long-range bombing of the ball into a Swans defence which picked everything off with ease, one has to ask some questions of the coaching staff.

As usual. the umpires are attracting criticism, but the plain fact is that Sydney deserved to win.

I'm not worried yet, but jeez there is some stuff to be worked on.

Skill errors cost us big time in that last quarter.

Tracc is not right at the moment.

When we lose a defensive spine player we really really struggle.

These things are outside of our control or can be fixed, so with the above going right I think we'll be fine.

The real problems I see are;

BBB cannot go up against 3 or 4 defenders, maybe his running/leading patterns aren't right, but it's gonna come out quick if we keep kicking it to 3-4 on ones with no-one else around the ball in our forward line.

We can't rely on Max to do everything (but he was enormous tonight).

That leads to my final question, rather than a point. Have we stopped being creative? I'm a huge fan of our system, but when a side kicks a point or we do take a mark just outside of the D50 it seems really obvious how we are looking to kick the ball. I was with my Sydney supporting mate tonight he started laughing as I called where every kick would go over and over. Last year we would take the long kicks and be confident someone would mark it, it's just not happening enough now so maybe worth a bit of change? Tonight the players looked like they were playing to a very specific game plan when even a look inside would have seen Dees players in space for a much easier mark. I only watch the games on TV so maybe I'm missing something.

I loved Kozzie's work rate tonight and it was great seeing Salem back, 10-2 just before the bye is something I could only ever dream of prior to last year and I think we were better than our game against Fremantle tonight. There's some work to do, but we can certainly build back into the beast we were at the end of 2021.

Max played a great game but his last inside 50 effort was a turnover and they rebounded and goaled. That was the time to hit the lead and he blew it.

Yep, that and his miss was a huge moment. It was a huge grab he took, a good kick to a forward could’ve been the moment to win the game. Instead it was a turnover, and they kicked the goal from it.

We had our chances to win it, and we didn’t take them. They did, that’s where it was won. Composure to get the job done.

We are still in a great position for the rest of the year, but next week has just become our first final. We need to win, it will be a massive crowd, finals like atmosphere, pressure will be on and the Pies would have to feel we are able to beaten now.

The players need to get their act together and so do we, the supporters.  Rock up to the G next week and make a lot of noise!

Agree on attending the games, but the noise is proportional to the display on the field.

The team needs to turn it up otherwise we can have full house and still be as quiet as a cemetery

What has happened to our pressure, disappeared.

Out tackled be 30-40%, that is bat**** ordinary.

Ben Brown, has he kicked a goal since WCE game? Doubt he has averaged 5 possessions a game over the three games.

Was shocked Bedford was dropped this week, should be in next.

So many times we could have had a crack at goal within 40m and look for the pass. Sick of this BS, kick the goal.

3 goals after 1 minute mark of 2nd quarter, not nearly good enough. Need a big turnaround.

At least Papley thanks the Umpire No 2 when he gets a free kick in the Fwd pocket.I couldn't see any reason why our players would want to thank any of the maggots tonight. They were deplorable. The have it down to a fine art of seeing if there is advantage, which club it is and calling it or not. We got very few that positionally meant anything. By the way that maggot disguised a smile after Papley thanked him..

That was tough to watch. I'm not sure if it's our game plan but I didn't see many forwards leading for the ball. Seems like we're planning to score from bombs in and hoping we can mop up better than out opposition.

Lots of guys down on form or playing slightly lazily imo.

I don't think BBBB should get dropped because 2 weeks in a row he's been out numbered and asked to take miracle grabs to get a possession.

Steven May obviously hides some of our shortcomings in defence. And TMac obviously gives us alot structurally too.

My daughter was told by Adam Tomlinson’s sister thatT Mac has a serious leg injury and may miss the rest of the season. Not sure if already mentioned. To be announced tomorrow. Forward line looking a bit thin.

It feels like the players can't/won't be accountable and prefer to defer the responsibility to the next bloke. One hand ball or kick too many

Last week really did tell the story. The weaknesses in our ‘system’ have been exposed because the whole thing relies on pressure and contested ball dominance. In both those areas, we are nowhere near it. Find that and things might come good. Might. Get on top of us in these two areas, and our very very ordinary forward line (barring Fritsch and Kozzie, our two genuine forward stars) gets even more ordinary service, whilst our backline just gets overrun with fast, low, targeted entries. Steven May alone cannot not fix this. Basically, we are currently just cannon fodder with some out of form stars running around. As per last week, Max, Jack and a slightly sub-par Clarry tried to haul us out of the hole. They were outstanding, but on the whole, our Flag defence has more holes than a rusty colander.

Assuming that Tmac is done for the year and aside from May, I don't see anyone who is out of the side making any difference. Weid, Bedford, Dunston, Chandler, Hibberd will not turn things around.

If Goody wasn't concerned when we weren't putting teams to the sword earlier in the year, he should be now. Two weeks in a row we've given up 4-5 goal leads, so maybe the players are believing their own publicity.

Max and Viney couldn't have done anymore, but our other leaders like Lever, Oliver and Petracca need to lift their games.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
