We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

Terrible news for a struggling club. I'd suggest that there will be more fallout than just these three. Not because I know anything, but it seems most unlikely that three people leaving like this will resolve whatever the underlying problems are.

I feel sorry for North. It is not so long ago we were in a similar position.

Everyone needs to stop feeling sorry for other clubs. The weaker other clubs are, the better positioned we are.

I sat next to enough arrogant North fans on Saturday to know that when we are down the bottom again they won't show any mercy towards us. The way they tried to physically attack us during the game, knowing full well they couldn't win on skills, talent or execution, just shows you the sort of club they are.

I agree we have to stay ruthless as a club/team on the field Jaded.  More than happy to thump everyone while we can!

Norf (and most other) supporters have always laughed in our faces & kicked us while we were down (for decades).  Been on the receiving end multiple times.

Bit of Kanga Karma maybe.

That first incident involving Langers looked a bit premeditated to me..

Just putting this out there.

I know there have been whispers that some @ the AFL have been pushing to still look to relocate Nth to Tasmania,  and a lot of denials etc. Can the AFL, if it actually owns the licenses for all clubs, revoke the Nth license for the AFL and award a new license to Tasmania instead?  Nth could play VFL if they didn't want to exterminate the club entirely.

In terms of the AFL competition, it's not diluting the talent pool, Tasmania gets a new team with it's own branding etc, the complexity of 19 teams is a non issue. Clubs with loud moth presidents like Tony Cochraine who are mewling at the thought of someone taking the teat from their mouth would have less of an argument about the slice of the pie.

I absolutely get this would be a disaster for Nth, but I doubt any supporters (other than the ones who live in Tas) would come across to support the team as a relocation anyway.

Give me 2 minutes to run for cover and then fire away!!!😁

I wouldn't say I feel sorry for teams but I would never want any other supporter to feel the way I did during the dark years.

Probably doing them a big favour. List management and recruitment has been pure [censored].

I don't know if Noble is part of the problem or whatever. But I agree that losing 3 of their list mangers/recruiters might be a major positive. Brad Scott left the list and contract situation in a total mess which will take 3-5 years to reverse, so the train wreck might kill off a few more careers yet.

I genuinely feel for hem - I remember the Dees being in the same position and it was absolute agony with no relief in sight. I just hope they can begin a new era of personnel management - both player and coach - and get up and doing again..

The AFL will have difficulty doing this as they have no leverage. North are pretty much debt free and have a good balance sheet. They most probably are more financial than us.

Terrible news. What would you do if you were in control at North right now?

If it were me, I would figure out which club had the best recruiting team and target their staff with big offers.

That would be us.

Hypothetical. AFL ask Tas to apply for a 19th licence. Application has to be approved by the 18 clubs. Clubs reject it. AFL says: "Well, sorry Tas. But our hands are tied, etc." Tas govt retaliates by revoking funding for Haw & North. Haw take the hit and move on. North slump financially. North go begging to AFL. AFL says: "We have funds available on conditions. Do you like apples, hiking in wilderness,  visiting Port Arthur, etc?"

"Hello, MFC? We have a ... 'Jason Horne Francis' ... on our books who wants to play at a decent club. Are you able to help? I know. I know. Yes. I know. It's just that we're mad with grief right now. Do you want a training facility based in the inner northern suburbs? It needs a good home too."

Our guys are interested in a brand new challenge. They already did the one about an under-resourced club building up a poor list to a powerful one. Now they're into how a powerful list can be maintained to keep challenging. Sorry, North.

[censored] em.

No sympathy from me. Same North Melbourne that had Brent Harvey running around for them giving cheap shots, same North Melbourne that even their own supporters laughed at us during the dark times and same North Melbourne that beat us back in 1998 in the preliminary final (still dirty about that final system).

    PODCAST: Jason Taylor Interview

I'm interviewing the Melbourne Football Club Recruitment Manager Jason Taylor early next week on the Demonland Podcast. I'll be asking him about moving up the draft order, our new recruits (both Draftees and Trades), Daniel Curtin, our recent recruits who have yet to play a senior game, who he thinks will be the next Judd McVee and more. If you have any further questions let me know below and I'll see if I can squeeze them in. I will release the podcast either Monday or Tuesday.

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE by Meggs

It was a hot afternoon at IKON where the ferocious Cats came to play, had read the manual on how to beat us and the Demons were unable to match them for the first three quarters.     With physical pressure, they took the game on with relative ease and though our resistance seemed better than the previous two weeks it was still not good enough.     Within the opening minute, Kate Hore marks within range, but her shot was a miss-kick, like a fat iron, and it kinda set a flat tone f

    TURNAROUND by Meggs

Following successive comprehensive defeats by fellow Top Four heavyweights the Demons play down a division this Sunday against the highly promising Cats.     Strangely, no games against the Cats for five seasons and now we play them twice in one season.     With the blueprint on how to defeat the Dees available on the dark web the real question is, will we crumble again under the finals pressure cooker or will we rediscover our #DemonSpirit and execute a turnaround?   Mak

THE SECRET IS OUT by Meggs

We were expecting that after last week’s comprehensive defeat by Brisbane, our coach Mick Stinear would have his charges coming out breathing finals fire. Instead, it was North who had the aggression, the numbers, who blocked our scoring avenues and rendered us impotent, unable to match the Kangas during any phase of the match.   Darren Crocker, the North coach, later highlighted that how to beat Melbourne is no secret following recent losses to Adelaide and Brisbane and now North.

CATCH EM ON THE HOP by Meggs

A sunny Sunday afternoon feast of finals footy awaits at our team’s favourite home ground, Ikon Park.  Great vibes at Princes Park where we remain undefeated from 7 matches and counting. Expect the Dees to come out strongly, sparring and outmuscling the Kangaroos in the middle.  With Paxy back firing and our gun forwards mesmerising, hopefully we catch ‘em on the hop. Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane have filled ten of the twelve Grand Final spots in AFLW history, and this dominance

    COLD AGGRESSION by Meggs

“Cold aggression”, Lions star full forward Dakota Davidson called it. Brisbane outmuscled, outran, and ultimately overwhelmed us. They certainly came to play and exorcised their 2022 grand final grudge defeating the Demons in the rematch by 25 points. Stats count and Brisbane won the key ones. Inside 50s 42 to 24, centre clearances 8 to 6, uncontested possessions 133 to 75 and 51 marks to 27. The Lions’ sustained pressure is the kind we usually bring for other teams.   There

    HOME PRIZE by Meggs

Big stakes this weekend. For the winner, will it be a Dees minor premiership and potential home grand final or will it be a Lion‘s Top Four finish and a double chance?    Huge interest circulates in the how the ladder unfolds over this weekend’s final round of the 2023 home and away season with some 10 teams vying for 8 places.     It’s AFLW Pride Week, a celebration of people from all walks of life coming together, being respected, loved and accepted. WICKED WIND by Meggs

Hang out to your hats. The strong blustery conditions made it extremely difficult for either team to execute footy skills but nonetheless an entertaining match ensured for those brave enough to venture down to Casey Fields on Saturday. Impressive Irish player Aine Tighe was a late withdrawal for Freo. Maddie Gay was also a late change, and she was replaced with 19 year-old Georgia Gall, the 6-foot ex Melbourne Stars BBL cricketer who has been impressing the coaches in scrimmage games.
