Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why can’t be put Gus back on the wing?

Last game aside he is possibly the form half back of the comp over the last month. Goodwin in last weeks presser said we would be loathe to move him on Salems return. Obviously that did not consider if Langdon misses games but I dont think we will. The other option when if Salem returns and if Langdon is out is Bowey. I just dont know if he has the kilometres in the legs yet to do it. I

Genuine question. Why can't we play BBB, T-Mac and Weed in the forward line? It would be like a 3 headed monster in which the opposition would not know who to go to. 3 distinct targets leading up. If they don't mark, then Kozzie or Spargo clean up.....then there is Fritter lurking around who is always dangerous plus ANB. Seems like a dream line up to me.

But what would I know....😁

I think it is because our focus is forward defence, and we always have the option of Gawn/Jackson being down there too.  That means we would lose a Kossie/Nibbler/Spargo type player who is critical to our system.  I would suggest we have 2 key talls plus resting ruck as our blueprint, with a mid forward (frittata) and the smalls.

Makes sense, thanks. Perhaps if we were a pure attacking team, the 3 headed monster would be a viable alternative.

I would rest Langdons ribs anyway. Melk should be dropped.

Bedford and Viney in.

Will have a hard look at BBB this week.

Goody spoke about that early in the year from memory - Said we'd tried different forward structures and the current one was the one they settled on and wouldn't be changing it.

As mentioned by buck, forward pressure is a key for us (23 tackles inside 50 yesterday, 23!!), and we lose a bit of that putting in another tall.

On top of that, I would say our forward 50 delivery and spacing has not been great for much of the last 6 weeks or so. Kicking it to stationary crowded packs more than we should, so adding another tall into that mix wouldn't be helpful IMO.

TMac looked sore after his final involvement in the game resulting in the shot on goal. Really should’ve put his hand up and say someone else take this kick.

They looked like on the minor end of injuries in both contests but he will probably be on light duties all week.

Really hope Lingers is ok, was a heavy crunch so he might need a week.

Just a random one, Gus had a very heavy tackled applied on him resulting in his head hitting the turf. Played out the game but could there be lingering symptoms given his history?

Really hope Viney is good to go and pulled out for precautionary reasons.

Was a bruising day vs the Kangas.

I think Melks or Dunstan will go out if Viney is right. Could just be the one change, though I thought Bedford was lively when he came on so it it would be good to get some proper game time into him.

Out: Langdon, Ben Brown, T.Mcdonald, Melksham.
In: Viney, JVR, Weideman, Bedford

I just thought we looked super slow in the forward line. Weideman and Bedford help with that.

A teenage tall who probably blows up by half time and Weideman, who hasn’t chased down anyone since 2018 isn’t going to fix our lack of speed in the forward line.

Tom might need a rest if he’s injured but otherwise he’s doing his job since he came back in to the side.

Brown and Weid are pretty much the same player defensively but in attack Brown’s worst days are less frequent and less bad.

Brown is the one player from our list that I think should be managed through the season like he was last year. There was a good argument not to take him to Perth and/or to avoid 6 day breaks. But he also needs continuity and unless he plays a true shocker I’d lock him in for the next 3 weeks before the bye.

Harmes out and doubts over Viney, Langdon. Hopefully they’re back.

None of Melk, Bedford or Dunstan impressed in any way.

Doubt Salem will be ready.

Left field options would be Turner, Deak Smith, Rosman at half back with Gus to the wing. Baker on the wing. Or Andy Moniz-Wakefield.

Personally I’d really consider a look at Deakyn Smith down back and move Gus back to the wing.

I doubt they would do it with one of those three, but I'd like to see it.  Turner might be the best but Rosman will be the future and Smith in the middle.  Brayshaw should definately go to one wing.

What worries me more is that we are obviously playing Tmac, Gawne and Petty sore and if we don't rotate and rest then they could all fall off the cliff at once

Not sold on that mate.

7 touches, 1 tackle. Kicked a nice goal, but was invisible pretty much otherwise.

Played on the wing, so completely changed his role…

Might take a reshuffle to get him back at half forward and have others on the wing

When is the last time Ben Brown or Tom Mcdonald chased someone down from behind?

Mate Brown kicked 0 goals with 74 inside 50's. That's a true shocker.

What if TMac is injured? didn't play the whole game yesterday but still kicked 3 goals 2. I will give you a tip Milkshake will not be dropped if Tmac is out. Brown a big chance to come in for Tmac.

Brown just about never but I’m fairly sure Tom did it in the last few weeks.

McDonald’s 11 pressure acts is very solid for a key forward. Miles ahead of Weid’s 5.6. (And Brown’s 6).

Maybe JVR could be at 8-10 pressure acts and lay a few tackles, but his VFL form just hasn’t suggested he’s a reliable goal kicker or mark at that level yet. 1 good game isn’t enough for a debut.

Watch this video from a week and a half ago. Choco isn’t pushing JVR as ready to go at all

Brown had a couple of goal assists, took a nice clunk mark and missed a sitter. Bought it to the ground at times fairly well. Walker and Corr played him well, the delivery was awful and McDonald, Fritsch and Gawn got the shots at goal this week. Weid’s had a good chance this year, he hasn’t delivered.

geez mate, you're setting the bar pretty low there. Give me a jumper and I'll bring it to ground. I do agree that the delivery was poor and our midfield alignment into the f50 is terrible these days.

neither does channel 9 and footy classified

so why should the AFL care who is on free to air.

We won a premiership on the basis of our key defenders and Max marking or clean spoiling the ball. Every AFL coach talks up the importance of forwards bring the ball down. And Weid has plenty of games where he doesn’t get to the right spots or gets bodied off it. Brown’s isn’t perfect, he can be moved off the line too easily too, but in terms of positioning and competing in the air I think he’s far better

And the delivery was crap for 3/4 of the game bbb kicked 60 odd goals for North mainly as a lead up forward that's his strength or one on one forward.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
