Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That's a good point.

He was excellent too against the roos.

So perhaps 'that's exactly what will happen' was a bit strong.

That said I think Bedford is still a better option because he can cover the roles you note that harmes plays ie on ball minutes, high half forward who can snag a goal and up and down the ground running as a quasi winger.

Not sure Dunstan has the same flexibility - particularly forward craft.

I agree that Bedford is better as an option for Harmes than Dunstan.

Dunstan is a good ordinary inside mid with grunt. He is a replacement for Viney or Clarry.

Harmes rarely plays on ball, he plays much more wing and half forward. Bedford gives us pace and the ability to push ANB inside, or Spargo up the wing as needed. It means Sparrow plays more inside minutes and Bedford plays as a half forward.

Being Indigenous round only adds to the point that Bedford should play, and the fact we are playing a side that is hardly going allows us to play around with a few positions as needed.

Yes i thought much the same.

The fact that they selected Toby to do the club's Sir Doug Nicholls Round video (published on Monday) ratjher than say may or Kozzie reinforces that point i think

Maybe. But if Bedford is selected, I hope that it's solely on merit and that he is told as much. It would be horrible for Bedford if he thought his selection was tokenistic.

The intrepid footy reporter known as Skuit is sent along to the mid-week Simon Goodwin press conference. A hot ticket. He completely botches the assignment though, and only manages to ask Simon why humans have pom-poms on their beanies? Like what's the function and when did it become a thing? Is there some deeper meaning? It's a gotcha-question gone wrong, as Simon says that they're not really taking the pom-poms into consideration right now, it's more about the process. Does Skuit take any satisfaction from the fact that a multi-billion dollar organisation in the AFL has finally managed to procure some decent mikes to capture the reporters' questions, or is he left ruing this development? You decide.

Of course.

But he has been in the best 23 all season and 100% deserves his inevitable selection this week

Happy to be wrong with this, I checked FTA channel 7 for our game on the weekend and we are not being broadcast. The premiers and not seen again on FTA for two weeks in a row. Why bother with FTA get a subscription and get every game. So much for sponsors getting more coverage. Yes I know we playing the last team on the ladder.

The one change I would like to see is Petracca.

I wish he would change his boots. Watched his highlights package and he slipped over on at least 4 occasions whilst kicking. I mean WTF is that? Its infuriating.

It wasn't just him and I don't think it had anything to do with boots either. It appeared to me that the surface was letting go. In some of the interview footage you can clearly see the surface is patchy and getting to the muddy stage. It wouldn't be a surprise that WA hasn't put the best drainage in (like the "G") as they think they don't need it because they don't get a lot of rain but do get a lot of wind.

Perth's annual rainfall is greater than Melbourne's , and most of it is in the football season.

With Optus Oval surrounded by stands, they couldn't rely on strong winds for drying.

It is warmer, though.

When the grandstands are full, as they would have expected when WCE were a good team, there would be a lot of hot air boos to dry the ground.  Now that they are 💩 there are too few booing feral Eagle fans for purpose.

Best drainage, it’s built on sand, not much better drainage. No matter how heavy the rain gets at Optus it drains fairly quickly

We're also not on FTA next week when we play Fremantle on a Saturday twilight timeslot.

That will mean 5 of our first 11 games have been on pay TV, and 3 of those 5 will have been our home games (vs Hawthorn, St Kilda and Fremantle).

By comparison, the Dogs will have 3 of their first 11 games on pay TV (they've started with 8 of their first 9 on FTA, so they've been all over the TV so far).

Only solution is buy a subscription and to hell with 7/ AFL. Of course that is probably what they want anyway.

Thanks JJC, so it appears the ground received a lot of rainfall in April and the drainage wasn't up to the job, hence the players breaking through the surface. If it keeps up it might be a mud hole by the time we play the Dorks there.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
