Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I dont think he would have taken Kozzy.  Fritta was more likely but now they have to potentially deploy Barass onto him

Was more thinking without resting ruck Rotham  at 194 would slide to Fritch and then Hurn gets ????

If Barass goes to Fritch who goes to BBB, Tmas and Dogga? Rotham, McGovern and???

I shouldn't mention the "T" word but I legitimately think they're tanking now.  The year started losing to Gold Coast and I think they gave up then and there thinking why bother.

Our 2013 was the most sickening season of footy I have ever seen a team play and we still managed a percentage of 50 odd which is where the Eagles are sitting now.  There team is a thousand times better than what we had - even with injuries and covid close contacts.

They're list is a mess right now with some serious talent finished and they desperately need some high end young talent coming through as its slim pickings.

They'll win one more game for the season which will be at the pointy end against another team who doesn't give a stuff with there finals aspirations done.

On paper this should be a massacre.......however we don't usually inflict too many 10 to 15 goal losses on our opposition - no matter how much they are struggling.

This is a chance for the boys to show how ruthless they can really be. I hope they take it!

Anything between a 10 to 15 goal win (& no injuries!) would be acceptable.

(But it will probably work out to less than 5 goals!) 😏

They didn't have the season that WC have and % wasn't in the low 50;s so the chitchat is entirely different.

That’s true, but they were still considered easy beats and our side went in with that mindset. I’m sure we’re not going to make that same mistake again, but when you look at the Eagles on paper, they have the cattle to give us a fright if they somehow manage to get themselves firing… although, having said that, I think the late outs of Hurn and Gaff are really going to hurt them.

We've got it in us to belt teams by huge margins in the H & A season.

Last year we thrashed Gold Cost by 98 points, albeit later in the season (round 20) when we were starting to peak during the run in to finals.

I wouldn't be surprised to see West Coast stick with us for a while but then get completely run over by the Demon Machine.

With the latest 2 outs, it's getting harder for me to temper my expectations.

Still happy that my favorite oppo player in McGovern will be playing. The guy is a weapon.

Having seen the official teams now, anything less than a 60 point win would be a disappointment for the club. We can bang on about being defensive and our style not being conducive to smashing teams, but if we can’t absolutely [censored] them on turnover then it’d be disappointing. Freo and Brisbane both smashed them and are now a chunk of percentage ahead of us. If we drop a game then we fall to third. Percentage is important and this next two matches against Eagles and North is our best chance to give it an almighty bump.

Be ruthless Dees. Let’s score 100+ and keep them to 30 or less.

We had a taste of what that was like in the Port game - It was fantastic. It's a special kind of ruthlessness, more demeaning and deflating, than the ruthlessness of the shock n awe goal barrages we've also seen. Just completely cutting off their ability to score anything, and pip a few goals here or there on the rebound each quarter - neutrals will be bored to tears, but for us it's like watching a game of chess unfold. Sip a glass of wine and enjoy. Of course, I wouldn't mind a 100+ point thumping too. A scoreline of zero goals and whatever behinds to 154 would be a grand old payback for that prelim.

Part of me wants to kick them while they are down as a sort of revenge for the 2018 prelim, we were embarrassed that day. 100+ point win will do.

But I don't think football players think like that, especially this team we have now. Very process driven, playing your role for the 'TEAM', and enjoying winning.

Just like Lord Travis said, anything under 60 isn't good enough. We need % to be higher than Brisbane and Freo. Have the game won by half time (5 goals up) is the main thing and then completely overrun them in the 2nd half. They've still got dangerous forwards in Kennedy, Darling and Ryan.

I'd be happy for this day to become known as either

The other 186 - we keep them to 2 points and post a salutary 188

286. We win by 286. In which they also only kick 2 points.

/Hubris mode off.

4 points please and some straight kicking at goal. Continue the run of us kicking 100+ and keeping them to say 50.

Just win take the four points and come home. So the Cats beat us by 186, how many flags have the won since. Bet they would swap that record in a heart beat for one. Give me a repeat or a tri-peat any day. Records always get beaten flags are forever. "Unless your the Storm"

I wouldn’t be shocked if we closely manage the on field minutes of our star players. Hence I wouldn’t care if we win by 6 goals, avoid injuries, and reduce the load on Clarry, Trac, Gawn, Lever and Langdon.
Perfect opportunity to also try and tweak the things we haven’t been happy with.

The reality is that we rarely score heavily and our average winning margin is probably around 25 points.

Brisbane and Freo are likely to have better % than us come season's end.

Keepon winning is what we need to do.

One loss and we slip to third.

The games against Freo and Brisbane have almost become must wins

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
