Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2.2 against Essendon rd 3

4.0 against GWS rd 5

2.2 against Richmond rd 6

1.1 against Hawthorn rd 7

1.0 against St.Kilda rd 8

He was quiet last week but surely these numbers qualify him for the “playing his role” status which gets handed out to others when justifying a supposed quiet game.

One of our teams strengths is you can’t stop them all, it was only a couple of weeks ago people were calling for Kozi to do more. The counter argument being his pressure acts, I would think Fritsch’s pressure acts would never rival that of our small fwds but he is a class player that is hard to match up on and can produce when needed.

Averages 2 a week and doesn’t need much of it, always dangerous.

langdon 9 rnd 7, 39 possessions Rd 8, but Goodwin presser, played his role both rounds.

Demons keep structure in place and all ground defence, so all players just play role, and opportunities will come, everyone shares success. = TEAM

With no Weideman or Daw picked in the squad we should safely assume that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Gawn's knee. If there had been any doubt, you would assume one of those two names would have appeared.

Assuming no late changes, I suspect Melksham will be the medi-sub to get him one game closer to his 200. (I think it will be his 199th game).

Melksham deserves 200, pity only 84 for Demons, be good to get him to 100 for Demons, but hard to see!

Can't believe they're playing Gawn.  Surely this is the game you rest him with that knee.

I don't understand how people make these sort of comments. Have you seen his knee? Do you know the level of pain he is in? Do you know if he's even in any pain? Do you know the nature of the injury? Do you know if it can get worse throughout the game? Do you know if playing can aggravate the injury? Do you know if playing puts him at risk for further injury? Do you know if he doesn't play, how he can keep his fitness up for the following week without doing any running?

Unless you know the answer to all of these questions, surely you trust the medical team that are actually professionals.

Spot on.

And I'd that the combination of his skill, brilliant one one marking ability (particularly for a player who is neither tall or super strong) and his importance to the side mean that the opposition simply have to put a decent defender on him, and they have to play him pretty tight.

Which is tricky on a number of fronts. He will thrash most small defenders in the air, so you need a medium or big on him. But they also have to cover THREE other talls.

Thisls adds to the match up challenge as how many tall defenders do each team actually have. It is one reason why the dogs struggle to contain us

And making things more of a challenge is that having to play him tight makes it hard to zone off him - which in tun makes or harder to stop our other talls.

The other ace up fritters sleeve is his brilliant field kicking that often create score involvements and goal assists.

Finally Bedford gets dropped. Sick of this guy getting 0 touches a game week after week without consequences.

completely agree!  Bloke has played 8 games this year and averages 2 touches per game!

did I mention I hate the sub?!

We'd need a scoreline of around 140 points to 50 points to get to 160% this week. 100 points to 30 points would have a similar effect.

I'd say the latter scoreline is more realistic than the former.

In reality, I see this game going down a similar path as the North game last year in Hobart.

Eagles will be super competitive in the first half and may even lead. We'll cop a rocket at half time, hold a slender lead at 3 qtr time, and then kick 5-6 goals to 0-1 goal in the last quarter...running out winners by 6-8 goals.

Reported that stars Shannon Hurn and and Andrew Gaff are now outs for WC due to “niggles”.  Apparently now have only 23 fit players to choose from.

Hurn is a big out. They have very little left to cover our forward line. They still have scoring power, but it is obviously aging and out-of-form.

As for Gaff...meh.

The match up for Hurn was either Kozzy or Fritch. Maybe an advantage for WCE hes now out

Weren’t we saying things like that, about the Adelaide Crows. last year?

They didn't have the season that WC have and % wasn't in the low 50;s so the chitchat is entirely different.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
