Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

One of the joys of being a top-of-the-table team is that we no longer get shunted off to the graveyard time slots and the consequences that has on those of us in far-flung time zones. After years of getting up at ungodly hours to watch our beloved Dees, we European-dwellers have been able to enjoy our wins at quite civilised hours. Until today. Setting the alarm for 4.45 a.m. brings back memories of the bad old days.

Go Dees, he says through half-opened eyes.

Class wise, we have the clear advantage.

The issue will be timing, hunger and team synergy. The Saints are a good team who I see finishing in the top 5. They have more senior talent than the Crows did when they finally knocked us off in round 10 last year. Plus, they have players who could break even with our guns on their day (Ryder, Steele, Gresham, Crouch). I see no reason as to why they couldn’t roll us.

That said, I do wonder how they’ll go coming back from Darwin. I watched the last quarter of that game and it was like they were playing with a cake of soap it was that humid. I always cringed the week after when we used to play up there because of the physical toll it used to impose on us.

Big game this for my household. Bragging rights up for grabs with the St Kilda supporting in laws. They've been chirping away all week and are very confident coming into this one (bless their little sainter hearts).

To be fair they've been complimentary and respect us but feel we haven't been playing well and are due a loss.

We'll (probably) lose a game this year but it won't be today

Death by strangulation, dees style, coming up for the gallant sainters

Dees by 25 points

Lower energy/fatigue levels from the Saints' Cairns game could be offset by lower energy/fatigue levels of our 7 recently returned covid players, moreso the 5 from last week.  Even if they are a few % off, collectively it could be significant.

We faded in the 4th qtr last week.  Can't afford to this week as Saints will take their opportunities.

Minimise their i50 entries and we win.

Dees by 3-4 goals.

This is it.

Despite playing 4 teams from last year's finals series we haven't truly been tested. Time to see where we are at.

Port ran out their game well on Friday night and Saints have had a longer rest. I don't think the Cairns factor will be anywhere near as much as people are thinking.

Agree, the break between games has been well and truly long enough for full recovery (have a sports science degree so can say that with some level of confidence) and you would image they will be very keen to be the ones to knock us off.

Both teams biggest challenge this season.

Expecting our midfield to be challenged. King covered but if their mosquito squadron are on & they're winning clearances then look out.

I'm going today with my Saints supporting brother.

I think that their midfield is too physically small so I think we'll have the edge there.

I don't particularly rate Higgins. He wont get his usual quota of 'out the back' goals. I presume that May will line up on King, but I actually think that Petty is a better match up. Membury is their 'Kent Kingsley' ... hope he doesn't have a day out.

Their backline is pretty settled. Hopefully BBB has a day out. And Fritta.

Go Dees !!!

We're playing a side that should be stuffed from last week, we've 5 players coming back from covid, a forward line that struggles to convert after 3/4 time. What could possibly go wrong?

Interesting all the MFCSS emerging.  I reckon we have not been at our best, but have got games out to 4 goals and shut up shop.  Our defense has been good, but our midfield and forward 50 pressure has been down as teams have tried different ways of going fast/slow/around our setup. Our f50 connection has been poor at times, and our position for goal kicking along with crap execution have led to inaccurate shots on goal.

Think we cover king and Higgins (petty and hunt), midfield too strong, Hill to get smashed by Angus  if he blocks for King.  Max and Dogga to outpoint Marshall and Ryder.  We may need to rev he engine a bit harder today, but no reason we can’t win. Dees by 32.

We’ll win easily. Lots of chatter about a danger game. Saints aren’t a danger, in fact no one is currently. Sides are putting everything at us and we haven’t got out of second gear. I pity the club that meets us in fourth.

We’ve beaten this mob once at the MCG since the 2006 elimination final.

Saints on an 8 day break should have recovered from their Cairns trip.

Really hoping we can bank this win as we have some tough fixtures between rounds 11 and 15. Would love to be 10-0 before we face Sydney and Freo at the G.

We can afford to lose 4 games this year IMO in order to finish top 2. Would rather not use one up today.

Did not fade it was a case of a dysfunctional forward line that has not really fired all year, a quarter here and there ,you just cannot just keep bombing it in.

The best (on paper) team we’ve fielded all year.  Subject to any post-Covid implications, we will win comfortably.  We are a much better team!

Saints have beaten Freo away, beaten the Tigers, smashed the Hawks and have Jones and Marshall back.

if we stay in our ‘second gear’ we will lose. We need to lift and I think we will but it will be close and we need to bring intensity

Well win today we go 3 games clear of the teams below us and we get our top spot back.

Hope the saints follow on from last week with there inaccuracy & may can hold King.

Have no idea what the crowd will be but I expect low. 1:10 Mother's Day is not great.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
