Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nice to see Goody show respect to Noble, having a long chat post game instead of celebrating the win.

Sound as a pound is our Goody

He was Goody's assistant coach at Adelaide from 2005 onwards.

Neeldy should make a call to Noble and tell him to prep.

Noble hasn’t psychologically melted down in front of our eyes like Arnold Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark ala Neeld.

But no one can survive this series of absolute hidings.

I reckon this started the moment North limped into the finals around 5 years ago after winning their first 10 or so games, Scott had determined they needed to do something drastic to win the premiership, something no one had ever seen, and this culminated in the decision to advise their 3 best players, on the eve of finals, that they could play out the finals after which their services would no longer be required.

Probably right mate. Nobody took any notice of that winning streak. It was bizarre, but ultimately correct

I think Noble is a good coach with an enormous amount of football knowledge. He’s very well respected in the industry (which is slightly different to Neeld who hadn’t work in as many diverse environments). He’s clearly trying to teach them how to do thinks the right way, and the players aren’t responding in any way.

He’ll be gone in the next few weeks, get a job as a head of football somewhere next year and wonder why it was all so hard.

Also I don't think North are an worse than we were in the Neeld era as we had GWS and GCS to jag a win here and there while North had an early win against a covid ravaged West Coast.

I don’t think it matters. They smell like Fitzroy to me. No one will want to go there. They will slowly rot.
They have one chance at Survival and that is Clarkson in as Coach. But he seems more interested in Tasmania.

nobody will raise an eyebrow if Nought die. There should be only one team representing Melbourne, and that is us. The mighty Demons

This North job won’t help his CV at all. Their % is below 50

No one playing for the list cares

Agree SWYL, there is definitely a Fitzroy vibe about North and I would be surprised if they don't internally decide that a Tassie relocation is the best thing for the club. When it was out on the agenda about 10 years ago they were a good middle road team but if they do everything right from here it will take 4 - 5 years to become relevant again and that is if the AFL is prepared to bank roll the restructure that is uncertain to produce results for a club that probably isn't viable.

I have been advised that the win/loss record currently stands at

Neeld 5 Wins 28 losses

Noble 5 Wins 29 Losses 1 draw

I know we were bad, but North breaking records. Lost their last 11 by 40 or more.

Yes I think North are in worse shape than we were in 2013, and we were very bad, but there was still a pulse.
The Afl are talking Tassie by 2026 as of today. Are they going to just let North lie down by 2025?

Nobody wants 19 teams, particularly if North are a Boat Anchor

Yep rebuilds happen all the time, but when will North get better? Hard to see it at the moment.

Yep, I think the 2026 timeframe and the state of North will essentially drive North's board in this direction. In 2013 the AFL was very clear in its view that it was in the league's best interest for Melbourne to be a major Victorian club. Fast forward to 2022 and the situation with North and it is difficult to mount an argument against North relocating to Tassie in a manner similar to South Melbourne and Fitzroy to Sydney and Brisbane. The wheels are well and truly in motion.

You only ever heard of it when they won by a few points. Unmentioned when the result was a few points the other way.

Noble Isn’t a good coach. I think North are pretty much on the tank anyway, and happy Noble is leading the charge. If they gain a PP, sit on the bottom next year and access more quality picks, I see them moving on Noble mid 2023 and seeking out someone more suited to take a young list places. I hope we seek out their good forwards. Be a good time to.

Is roosy still helping out noble? But Neeld lost the players not sure if Noble has completely lost them

I wonder if they will lose players like we did. If they stick fat & hang around like some of ours did they may get rewarded like ours did or you could move on & miss out. Just ask Jeremy Howe.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
