Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Steven May One on One

I just love the way Steve May holds himself out on the footy feild too.

Struts about with his big chest out, half psycho stare and his whole body language says "don't [censored] with us".  Must give a huge amount of confidence to those playing around him.

They say Lever is the general with the way he commands orders to his team mates and makes sure our defense is well positioned, but I reckon the backline walks taller with May down there.

An absolute competitive beast. Nobody wants to lose when he’s around.

If you lookup Uban Dictionary for the phrase "white line fever" , there are two separate pictures of Gold Coast Sun's players illustrating the alternate definitions.

One is of Steve May and the other of Karmichael Hunt.

...how glad must Steve be that he left the Sun's and came to us!

In great form but doesn’t fare well against tall, mobile athletic types like King brothers and Norton. So I do hope we don’t man him on King this week. Petty is practically made to man King. May is as good as advertised, and one of the best full backs I’ve seen. Just none of the full backs in the past had to man the prototype forwards going around today. Possible exception of Rance.

Agree.
Though at the time I has my concerns about forking so much coin for a pair of backmen.
Both trades have proven nothing short of brilliant.

Be interesting to watch how clubs go about their rebuilds from now on.
Do they follow our lead by bostering the backline with defensive beasts 1st.

The only downside is May is 30 and will be lucky to get another 3 seasons out of him.

Good call. I think 'Life after May' needs to be our recruiting drive over the next few seasons. Petty is good but we need more than 1 and May has all the traits. I mean he's the AA full back so he won't be able to be replaced but we're in need for a 195cm key back with speed and strength combo. Or trade for one.

Maybe we can pick up a free agent full back from Hawthorn as pay back

what pick did we give up to get him again? what an amazing trade that was! Every week I would tear my hair out watching Oscar McDonald be our monster key back. Since May has come to Melbourne, it's made me re-assess the importance of key defensive talent. I'd happily pay up again.

May will end his career as one of the best K.P defenders we have ever had.

A fitting legacy based on his output since he crossed over. Will always be known as a Dees legend.

Love your work Fork, but it's somewhat of a stretch calling Lever a "defensive beast"

Plus one to that

He is the best Key Defender I have seen play for us and I've either been to or watched, almost every game we played since the early 80's. Little harder now living in the States - thank goodness for WatchAFL and International Memberships.

He ticks every box you want in a defender, second only to Lever in reading the play, an excellent kick, can mark overhead, great on-field leader, built like a brick outhouse.

May and Lever were selection masterstrokes - all the more poignant given our utterly horrible recruiting record for more than a decade.

No thank you, they can keep frostball

Definitely not. I'm thinking one of the younger key defenders that are 26-27 by then. Or maybe James Sicily would like to finish his career here

We had Frost and O'Mac and were the easiest team to score against..

Defence wins flags.

I rather thought May did rather well against Naughton in the Grand Final, despite having a dodgy hamstring.

Steven May has been brilliant over the past three years and deserves every bit of praise he gets.

That said, Naughton and Wright both kicked multiple goals against him this year. What is the definition of a defensive 1v1?

There were plenty of baggers giving it to the club about the trade and May!!

I'm still so filthy about this and how the footy public just let it go through to the keeper. Any other player / team would have been rubbed out for 2 weeks minimum.

May has had two injuries whilst playing for us and both can be attributed to Tom Hawkins. A smashed eye socket and a hamstring injury. They are suspending guys for a poke in the chest and Hawkins gets away with blue murder

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
