Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tmac has more strings to his bow than Weed.

Weed took a good mark tonight and kicked a goal but doesn't do to much else unfortunately.

I don't disagree with you. I am firmly in the Tmac camp. I also think Weid is more a replacement for Jackson as a second ruck, and Brown if needed. But I recall at least two strong marks he took tonight so credit where it is due. I was worried about his intensity (ball watches a bit for mine) but thought it improved through the match.

I am comfortable bringing back players off just the one training session but they may be quite ill.

Really hard to say at this early stage - if we have more cases then this becomes another week or uncertainty.

Good opportunities though, and I really like all our replacement players that came in.

One thing I will add though - you can’t replace your best players: 11, 5, 13, 7, 8, 15, 1, 3, 10.

I can't believe some people were suggesting dropping Spargo. This is a hard one to answer this week because of the covid nonsense. The 5 that were "rested" would obviously come back in so it is who should be dropped if we have to. Melk, Smith,Dunstan,Bedford and one of tmac or the weed. Bedford mighty unlucky.

In: Jackson, Pickett, Petty, ANB, Sparrow

Out: Smith (inj), Dunstan, Melksham, McDonald, Bedford (super unlucky)

I'm torn a bit on McDonald and Weideman. I personally want to see Weideman given more opportunities and feel he's been in slightly better form this year having kicked 8 goals in 5 games compared to McDonalds 6 goals in 6. McDonald did just have his best game of the year though save for a selfish bit of play. A good problem for the selectors to have. Covid may throw some curveballs yet as well.

As weird as this sounds the COVID protocols could be a blessing in disguise as it gives players rest which will come in handy come finals time.

Depends if they are “protocoled” as positives or as close contacts.
Close contacts could benefit from rest; positives are more than likely going to have some degree of fatigue, at least.

Madness to bring back 5 players who have been sick and who probably won’t train much, especially Neale bullen who’s 7 days will end Friday, so he is no chance so Bedford stays in and we will need a 100% fit side against the saints so I can’t see there being many changes if any
will depend how sick they got, when I got Covid I was still fatigued 2 weeks later I’m not a professional athlete however

What part of covid is nonsense?

I’m curious. Why are you omitting Hunt?

Don't listen to 'em,  'deever, you had it right the first time.

TMc played selfish football in rounds 1 - 4.  Despite obvious efforts to correct this in round 5, imv it was part of the reason he was dropped for round 6.  He showed selfish signs again yesterday.

So imv can't be relied on to do the team things.  (I can see a 'pile on' approaching...)

A half fit ANB still has the best endurance stats at the club. Exceptional runner, elite pressure acts. He plays even if he hasn’t trained.

I’d like to see Bedford stay and play a sticky role on Sinclair. The Saints ability to move it quickly and accurately off half back is their key strength.

In the past, say against the Dogs, has Spargo played this role?

Alternatively Hunt.

Again, do we know which players were positive and which were “protocolled” as close contacts?  Really makes a huge difference.

100% agree. And if any were positive,  were they asymptomatic? Or sick?

Edit: that said, no doubt there’ll be more COVID during the week. Happy for any of the above “outs” to go around again depending on who’s out. I thought they all contributed really well.

Not sure I would leave Weid out. Def bring back Kozzie and Action Jackson as well as sparrow and Petty.

Maybe but at least he is more involved than Weid who runs around much of the game being unnoticed.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
