Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Best we have played all year,

I hate the metro train service.

It was utter chaos getting home. A while platform shut down at Richmond and all Pakenham line punters had to get off at Caulfield for buses, and their were none to be seen.

I walked away from the masses and was lucky a lovely taxi driver noticed me with my 2 kids and went out of his way to pick us up.

Disgraceful scenes at Caulfield, imagine if this was a 50k crowd!

Interesting....

Melbourne had a remarkable 10 individual goal scorers in the third term - becoming just the third club to achieve the feat in the past 20 years.

If you count Jackson's goal in the second, we had a run of 11 goals all kicked by different players.

EDITED: Slight statistical error, whoops.

I went by car and parked at the G for the first time in years. Do they normally not let card out of the park for 30 minutes after the game?

Lack of love post.

A big shout out to a player not getting a lot of love - Jack Viney. A goal in every game so far this year. Great gut running, his kicking is now effective, and he continues to be brutal around stoppages and uncompromising with the expectations of his team mates.

Not enough love for Harmes' game. His game has the same quality as ANB - just so steady and reliable. Great mark, great kick, and runs both ways.

The lack of love for the Weid is interesting, especially for dropping marks that hit his hands. Jackson suffered from this as well, and dropped way more than Weid, but not mentioned once.

Totally-deserved lack of love for Umpire 34, who was not only bad with the Dees. That decision against de Boer for dropping the ball - sheesh!! She made a LOT of wrong calls or misses.

After last nights game it’s clear why Petty is preferred to Tomlinson. He is a much better player - more mobile, great hands and a good physical presence. An important cog in the wheel.

He’s gone to another level, so confident, he’s got his dancing shoes on now days too. His foot skills just keep adding to teams woes.

Teams might have to go in with 12 fwds each game to just try to score enough.

LOL.  I was tempted to mention that Umpy, too.  Was the one who disallowed Trac's great goal.  To avoid the sexist tag, I was gonna simply refer to "the umpy with the high voice..."  Made several terrible calls against us.

Not just against us as others have detailed.  One minor thing not mentioned is their failure to immediately line up Gawn on his shot for goal at around 17:00 of Q2.   He marked the ball at 51m and was obviously going to have a shot but the ump initially stood with  the 'stand' gesture 25m away before realising they had to run in to line him up.

True, but it's critical for a key forward to clunk them routinely.    And Weid's follow-up work appears a bit slack.

How good did Petty look.

Incredible to think how quickly he has gone past Tomlinson (albeit with a serious knee injury).

Once again Goody and Co got it right !

Jie many would BBB have kicked last night ?

I actually loved that decision. The new holding the ball rule calls for players to be deemed holding it earlier when they are caught. He was caught dead to rights and the ball fell from his hands. I really don't care that he got a fraction of toe on the ball as it hit the deck.

If we are to prevent sling tackles we need to call holding the ball faster rather than wait for players to get extremely suspect disposals away. We've been rewarding players who get little toe pokes on the ball after clearly been caught and dropping it for a long time now.

Ruthless performance. Thoroughly enjoyable to watch. The only time I got annoyed was late in the game when we gave up some junk time goals 🤣

crowds are an issue across the league. Covid main factor. Plus school holidays. I’m down the coast this weekend as are the crew I normally head along to games with. I think Anzac eve will be a better indicator of member engagement. I expect a big crowd (I’ll be there for sure)

Apparently we are playing a ‘very good team’ next week. Does anyone at Channel 7 or SEN know anything about Football? Adelaide won because Burgess is their Fitness Coach and Richmond have no Martin and are on the decline. Why don’t the media see that teams go up and down and that teams like Essendon and Richmond will struggle for a while until they get their lists right!

But hey, Go Demons!

What, 22 years?

It's for spectator safety going to Richmond Station on Brunson St which is why walkover is necessary in the Station upgrade..

How good is it that we had a 10 goal quarter but the crowd (and me personally) appeared more amped for May’s two spoiling efforts on the wing as he came off and Sparrows gut run and tap to Fritter.

Good to see Picketts and Spargos effort so far this season turn into goals and possessions.

Petty back is so important as it frees May to play a higher, more aggressive defensive game.

We really do prepare for everything the opposition might throw at us and it’s no wonder opposition coaches look bereft of ideas at times in the coaches box.

It might have been brought up on Game Day, the Giants used one of their best defenders in Haynes on Lever in the early parts of the first and second quarters. Haynes tried to wear Lever like a glove for obvious reasons, but if you focus on one player May and Petty will chew you up. Hunt stepped in to block Haynes several times so Lever can try and do Lever things, that particular tactic didn’t work for them so they gave up on it quickly. Our boys just go the extra mile when it comes to supporting each other.

Sparrow.  Loved his run and continued running.

As described… “selfless, brilliant”. We were right behind it and stood to applaud Tommy Sparrow’s effort.  His goal !!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
