Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why was Yze not played out of the goal square?

Can someone please answer why a team with a lack of goal scoring options would not play a proven goal scorer out of the goal square against a team he has torched in the past?

Forget form etc etc, he has kicked bags in the past and without Neitz and Robbo it was only logical he would play there at least at first. To not even try it to me is ludicrous. Does anyone agree?

yeah i can recall a couple of games, including recent queens birthday games where KNEEL down Daniher has put him playing from the square and kicked bags of 4 or 5. either that or put him on the ball if he plays against freo. HFF is stupid position for him to find form cos he aint gonna get the ball.

Yep, exactly right. Throw him in the goal square and make him lead to the ball. He and Green are two players who know how to.

I think a better question is why wasnt Newton playing Full Forward?

Yeah, good call. I wanted to see Newton given a go, after all, isn't he supposed to be our answer to the no-Neitz problem that will eventuate either at the end of this year or next.

The answer was that Yze was played deep in the forward line as early as the first quarter. He struggled so he was moved.

The bloke is sadly out of form and has been for about 2 years now.

Some would look at that and make some conclusions. Obviously not everyone.

he struggled so he was moved - from what i saw all of our boys struggled

the bloke is sadly out of form - again all of our boys are out of form

....make some conclusion - with what theyre getting paid if they cant perform then they should leave, i guess its like office work there are those who sit around and look at the internet all day and then there are those who work back to finish off work so everything is up to date and not get paid the extra time, unfortunetly footy only goes for four quarters cant do anymore than that.

2004 final against Essendon.

Without Neitz Yze was great at FF.

Correction.

Holland played injured at FF and did nought and then replaced by Bizzell who did even less. Yze played up the ground. Perfect game for him that day. Two sides playing unaccountable football. Its a pity his game was marred by some offensive clangers.

Totally correct Phoenix. Those thinking Yze was not used properly are clutching at straws. He's not up to it.

sounds like trade bait then to me

Again, on this website stupid people talking nonsense about something they obviously have no idea about. Yze wouldnt be worth a 3rds player running around in the ovens and murray league. He has no trade value at all. Last year people through his name up with godfrey, brown, read etc. Only half useful players can be used as trade bait, you cant just use a spud to fill up the numbers.

And then there are the people that say things like i'll give Green and 3rd round selection for a Judd, Brown, Fevola etc. Some of the stuff people say is absolute rubbish.

And that's what's in the auld onion bag!

He is the Nick Holland of the Melbourne Football Club - untradeable!

He bent the club over a barrell with a big offer from the men at Sticks FC and since then has produced on the odd occassion.

The thing that is sad is that those silky skills appear to have deserted him - that once deadly left boot is now a liability!

I did not attend Sunday due to prior commitments but was he left one out in the square or did we play three from the square?

I am interested because the number of teams that we play set up this way - isolating players, etc. The number of times this year that a forward has been up against two and maybe three is ridiculous!!

HAHA give me a hit across the mouth if u are all serious Yze should play goal square. The guy is out of sorts, WILL NOT CHASE and if he slips a mark, its ohh poor me im Adam Yze and because i have a games record im going to make everyone else do the work cause im out of it. I dont think u can put Yze anywhere where he will play well. I would place Newton at FF. Everyone keeps saying the kids got something but under ND we will never see it. Again ND will not debut a player and if he does it will be in the wrong possision like most of his matchups. But Yze in goal square, give me a break

haven't seen much of willy but from all reports, they earnt their spot.

I have however seen Sandy n Newton n has not earnt his spot.

Flashes but stupid selfish/glory hog still is a chink.

I'm confident he can put it together but until he becomes a more complete footballer, he's a no atm.

Having a shorter forward line in Yze, Green, (maybe Sylvia) is a better option then Jamar or PJ.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
