Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There has never been joint winners of the Brownlow from the same club and the odds of it happening would be very difficult.

Since the players would have earn at least 26 votes each equaling the worst result in the last 10 years which is 52 votes leaving 80 votes for other players since there is a maximum of 132 votes as a possible total for a club with the opposing clubs getting zero.

The lowest winner in the last 20 years was Cousins in 2005 with 20 votes.

The lowest winners in the last 10 years got 26 votes Priddis Cotchin and S Mitchell.

Last years winner with 36 votes was Wines which was a record equaling vote tally.

Last year Oliver got 31 votes and Petracca got 23 votes.

While I think the Spanish take on our CP5 blitz in the 3rd quarter is exceptional  has any one bothered to tell the Spanish that Trac is of Italian descent.!!!

They perhaps may not be as enthusiastic  especially after this and also that I drank Aperol Spritzes in the Barcelona heat rather than a Sangria perhaps!!!

I have nevertheless more than made up for whatever drink including our Premiership Shiraz ( not too bad a drop) that I can get my hands on to continue celebrating our 57 year drought.

Still have a couple of Victorian friends to fully cement our triumph in 2021 with a toast before 2022 commences.

Cheers !!!🍾❤️💙🏆

What tough decisions I’ve got to make….

Saturday night the Ballarat Demons had organised a "Dinner with Demons" event in the function room at Bray Raceway. In attendance were: TMac, Clarry, Salo, Frieter and Gus.  Mrs Dw surprised me with tickets saying it was an early Valentines Day gift (Damn, if that doesn't put the pressure on).  We had the great pleasure of sitting next to Paul McDonald for the night and had some great conversation with him, absolutely terrific fellow. Now to some of the information from the Players.

Early on the question was asked; who is the standout in training? The other 4 all pointed to Clarry straight away and one of them said "you just can't bring him down!"

On the question of losing Burgess they all said the transition to Selwyn has been seamless. While he had introduced some new/ different things, all the philosophies and language was the same and they are all well on track. I think it was Clarry mentioned 18 of the players had PB's during testing.

I asked some questions regarding AMW, does he have a nickname yet? They all looked at one another and burst out laughing and one of them said "we'll just stick with Andy" . I'll have to put Fence onto that one. I asked if he was as quick and elusive as Cozzie? The reply was "nobody is as quick as Cozzie". What was also said was he did have pace, was elusive and had excellent disposal. Interestingly they said he was currently being played all over the ground, again another one for Fence.

On Choco, they all think he is crazy and you never know what your going to get from him next but then they all agreed what he does works! (Their emphasis)

Can't think of any other insights I can share but it was obvious they are all very comfortable with each other, very relaxed but you can just sense they are raring to go and want very much to do it again.

Thanks for the insight mate.

The AMW comment sure is interesting.  Looking at some of the training footage he seems to be around the ball a fair bit.

An intriguing player who I'm really looking forward to watching at Casey.

Yes, I'm going to put a few dollars on Casey to win their flag this year, its overdue and if you look at history the Dogs and Tigers got theirs and there will be some serious players and some terrific developing players down there this year.

Such confidence. I'm not even confident that the VFL will have a proper season. If the AFL (seniors) run short of players due to Covid protocols, I can see the VFL being really stretched for playing personnel to the extent that the competition is abandoned.

Someone should run the excel spreadsheet exercise and tell us what combination of 3s, 2s, and 1s Clarry and Trac need to make this happen!

It's not that hard. Trac gets 3 votes round 1 while Clarrie gets 2. Then in round 2 it's Clarrie with 3 and Trac 2. Repeat for the remaining 20 games.

That means we win all 22 games in the season and they get 55 votes each the odds on that happening must be astronomical.

Only a supreme optimist would believe it could happen.

Didn't I see in the Embarrassing Records thread that we've never been through a season undefeated?

Perhaps not.🙂

But wouldn't it be great if it were to happen?

I like it La Dee-Vina BUT I don't have faith in those two outdoing the rest of our star studded side all year. Would like to see a sprinkling of 1s here and there to make it more plausible 😛

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
