Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm still a fan of the Weed.

Reckon what is stopping him is mostly between his ears. Had a few injury setbacks too over the last couple of years.

His body shape looks much improved. Stronger through the thighs, hips and shoulders, which will help prevent him getting pushed around in the contest for marks. Hope the tank is similarly improved.

Wouldn't be surprised if Weed overtakes Tmac by end of 2022. Be a good sign for the health of our KPF stocks.

HNY to all on Land. And what a great footy year it has been.

Unfortunately David Neitz could make a comeback and overtake TMac as well as push Weid out of a contest.

I hope TMac can string one complete season together myself

If we knew what Tmac's instructions were I guess we'd know if he was following them or not, but we don't.

TMac was instrumental in our form earlier this year. Without him we don't win the minor premiership and possibly the flag.

Yeah I concede that ( I'm a fan of TMac) but he seems to almost take a mark, almost kick it over the player on the mark when he does get one, almost get the ball in a contest..

I'm pretty sure he was following instructions though and his shepherd goal in the g/ f is why he's way better than Weid

If Weids excuse is his confidence I reckon it's a genuine issue for both the McDonald brothers

Which is why I wrote about a " full season" ..that's been his problem since he was headed for AA Full back back in the  90's(?)

Then his form  suddenly collapsed until they had to move him forward.....  and the pattern continues.

I dispute your comment IRW that Tmac's form  "suddenly collapsed" when he was moved forward.

My assessment of the situation at the time was that Tmac's disposal was a real worry turning the ball over too often and at the time we didn't have a great forward line.

Before He left Chip Frawley was played up forward and I think it was Roos that gave Tmac a shot at FF/CHF late in either 2015 or 2016 to bolster our attack.

We all know about 2018 and 53 goals for Tommy but really this year I believe his first 2/3 of the season were just as valuable and that the injury was the main reason his form dropped for the later part of the season.

However from where Tom was at 12 months ago he was still handy up forward  as he needed a first or second defender to mind him. He helped out in the ruck up forward snd things like his bullock ing work and goal line strength were very valuable in our Finals.

Sgsin he is training well and I expect Tmac to be named as CHF in Round1. Weid goes not compete like T Mac so it will be interesting to see what happens with JVR this season.

Also Jacko and Maxy spent more time up forward as the season progressed and both made goal contributions and needed undersized ( vs Max) defenders to mind them or compete in ruck situations up forward. I like to think Tommy plays a role like Mark McClure did for Carlton in their three flags in 1979,81 and 82 with plenty of mediums snd smalls and a Mackay ( Jacko) floating plus a ruck in the mix snd BBB taking his tall extended arm marks that no defence can stop.

Lets not fret about Tmac too much who IMHO played his role like many others and look at our scores since Round20 and results.

Go Dees back to back or three peat or ??? Who knows.

If my memory serves, it wasn't his hip, he actually had a hairline fracture in a femur. Wasn't particularly painful but he needed to be off legs to allow it to knit/heal.

No you missed my point Tom's form dropped off dramatically just when he was being touted as AA full back.. it was later he was moved forward .

Possibly not even the same year.

For a time I thought he was better than the 2nd forward he was being called.

He could clunk marks in a pack without having to leap

In following years he has carried foot and leg injuries and as a result has a history of not being able to complete a season at his best.

There does seem to be a confidence issue as well and you can often read it on his face.

I think his best is way way better than anything Weid has shown and hope he gets a full year in the team before the younger Weid finally  catches a  few and kick some goals ....in 2023

I was obviously being flippant re Neita but don't dispute TMacs importance.

You havnt noticed I  say I hope to see a full season from him.

At present we can carry Weid...or...we have to carry Weid

The glass of Red is too often connected to my lips. (Had to be very careful how I constructed that sentence).

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
