Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The last three goals of the quarter still amaze me and I must have watched them over fifty times.

Dees of old would so often concede a goal in the last minute of many quarters.

From the dogs perspective with the ball moving into our fwd line, dogs fans must have been thinking we need to hold on and not give up a goal.

But nobody thought of giving up three and especially the way it happened.

Truly spectacular in any game but more so in a granny.

I wonder how many people went to get a beer or take a toilet break.

I reckon if I was at the ground, I would have snuck off to get a beer before others.

I'm pretty sure those goals just crushed the dogs spirits as four goals is not insurmountable. But we scored at will in the last.

I was dancing everywhere after those goals and I was sure the flag was ours.

Was everyone else convinced?

I remember being super anxious at 3qtr time of the GF, terrified that an early Dogs goal in the last would precipitate another momentum shift. So for me it was only after Brown's goal in the last that my nerves started to settle, and probably 2 goals more before I truly started relaxing.

I snuck off to the toilet after the Trac goal thinking that’ll be the last goal before 3/4 time and then mid stream I heard this roar. My pessimistic self thought it was a dogs goal. Then there was another. Didn’t miss that one.

I used to always stress that a team would score a goal against us in the final minute particularly in close games but often attempted to take solace in the fact that it's virtually impossible to kick two in a minute despite my MFCSS (which is currently in remission) telling me that only the Dees (of old) could cough up two in a minute.

Now that I've seen that 3 in a minute is a very real possibility I don't think I can ever be truly comfortable at a football match ever again. 🤪

Yeah if I'm honest,  I probably felt the same. But still blown away from that spree.

Yep it obliterates the number of goals past the number of minutes win rule.

Going by the TV replay, Goody was up and about after Sparrows goal. I was pretty comfortable after that goal, and knew it was ours after Clarry lined his up moments later.

I'm sure it will go down in club history and probably AFL legend as the best minute of footy ever.

Wow, I must be the only ‘doubting Thomas’ around here. I was nowhere near relaxed at any of the above-mentioned points. I wasn’t even believing we were a cert to win after ANB’s goal which put us up by 42 points. It wasn’t until the next goal (Langers) that I entertained the thought that this could be it… that we can win this. Oh man, I still get excited just thinking about it.

Good old Mfcss.

I'm pretty sure there's not too many gfs were lost with a five six goal lead in the last.

But I know where your coming from.

The 3aw commentator was the same and would call it either.

I’ve had diehard Collingwood and Essendon fans and even Geelong fans (friends) say that that last minute of the third is hands down THE best football they’ve ever seen, by any team, at any time, ever. Ever. ❤️💙

I saw a guy at the premiership event last week who was wearing a blue T-shirt with large red lettering that said:

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

He told me he made it himself. I hope there’s no copyright issue as I wanna make one myself. 😁

That effort put an end to Leigh Matthews’ old maxim about goals behind > minutes remaining equals sure defeat. That is if your 3 goals down with less than 3 min to go you are stuffed. Not anymore it seems.

For me it was the same goal, Langdons that broke me and had me sobbing uncontrollably and every goal after that brought more and more tears of joy. I godda grab a tissue I'm starting again.

Yep. 32 seconds between the first and third goals. First at 0:47, second at 0:30, third at 0:15. The stuff dreams are made of.

I’m still trying to imagine what it would’ve been like to witness that blitz at the G.
The Dogs worked very hard to peg us back and jump out to 19. To not only see that lead evaporate so quickly but to find themselves 24 down at the last change it’s no wonder they looked mentally kaput after Oliver’s goal.
Amazing finish to a quarter.

The 6 6 6 rule prevents teams flooding the defence in the last minutes of a quarter . But yes a team with momentum and confidence can go bang bang bang in the last minute

At the start of the comeback it was actually 1 minute 3 seconds between Fritta's mark ( goal 1) and the mark to Ben Brown (goal 3). If not for the fact that two of the three goals were set shots including one with a 50 metre run up we would have scored 3 goals in around 40 seconds twice in just a nine minutes period.

To be fair Mathews never said that. What he did say was; he would start to breathe easier at the end of the last quarter when there were more goals required than minutes remaining.

We were all getting a bit anxious when Bont kicked that goal to put them 19 points up, I took the dog out the back for toilet break, I heard a roar and when I got back inside Fritta had kicked out sixth. My grandson (7yo) said grandad take Bella outside again which I did and bang Fritta kicked our 7th, I laughingly said I am going back outside and BBB kicked our 8th. We all laughed and I didn’t go outside again.!!!

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
