Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Whenever I see another Demon supporter, I cannot help myself ... I say "how about those Dees?" or "Go Dees". It invariably leads to a pleasant conversation whereby happy memories are revisited. Have never had a neutral (or worse) response.

What a great tribe we are part of !!

Tonight it was at the Terminus Hotel in Clifton Hill. I met 2 lovely ladies, one of whom said she was a long time lurker on this site, but not a poster. She (Leah, who was wearing a premiership t shirt) said if I posted on this site tonight, she would post a "like". Let's see if she's true to her word.

I've found I'm getting a bit of "I'm not a Dees supporter but I know someone who is" and "I'm not a Dees supporter but my [insert family member] is".

'Tis a Tardis-like bandwagon😄

I’m everyone’s “I know a Melbourne supporter” in my area. There’s not too many of us in this neck of the woods. But since our prelim win I’ve discovered two separate neighbours as diehard as me. And, of course, they’re both really nice blokes. 🙂❤️💙

When I get the old “a friend of mine is a Melbourne supporter” I always go with the “oh ok! A friend of yours?!” With mirth in my voice.

”Well you tell them that it’s perfectly acceptable and they should feel comfortable showing their true feelings” I say with a wink.

”I hope your ‘friend’ enjoys the Dees next year” I say with a chuckle.

I saw photos of a friend with the cup on social media this week.  I wasn't able to get one :(

She's has gotten on board the dees in a big way this year... but I still remember only a few years ago when she said she wasn't interested in attending the matches etc... when the team wasn't doing so well and I went along with other mates thinking she didn't actually follow football at all.

On the one hand I don't care - the more ppl that jump on board the better as that will help drive membership, primetime spots, sponsors, more kids following the dees, long term sustainability etc etc .... but at the same time, when its someone I know well, it grates on me a little bit.  (I feel like I'm that guy that says they liked X band before they were popular)

I imagine I'm not the only to experience this mixed emotion.

Up here in sunny Queensland where not that many follow AFL, let alone the mighty Demons, one of my 6 yo son's PE teachers wears a MFC cap on pretty much a daily basis and has been since at least the start of this season.  So since the start of this year, pretty much every time my son comes across this teacher in the school yard, he gets a big "GO DEMONS!!" from my son.  Whitenessed this exchange first hand, when I was dropping off my son to class the other day ... it's a beutiful thing.

Obviously, to be wearing a MFC cap on a daily basis, his PE teacher is a bit of a die hard Demons man.  Got talking to this teacher a while back sometime mid/late(ish) in the season (heck of a nics bloke) and apparently one of his grandpa's played for the mighty MFC back in the day as well.  He got a big "GO DEMONS!!" from me too, when I saw him in the week or so following our awsome premiership wining GF.

As Binngers alluded to, it's great to be a part of this tribe right at the moment.  All those years of pain have only deepened the bond and euphoria, we now share with our fellow Demons faithful.

The mixed emotion should really be tempered with the priceless journey you and thousands of others have been on (or through).

I was led to following the Dees in 1958 by my state school buddies family and my family appreciated the immediate success of 7 successive finals appearances and 3 flags, 1959,1960 and 1964. Didn't get to witness any by the way but saw the Cats salute in 1963 and still remember the heartache of that actor and rogue Roger Dean  being influential in Barass ( my childhood heroand jumper no wearer.) being suspended for 4 matches including our semi and prelim finals.

Then the rot started in 1965 and until that wonderful Saturday late in August in 1987 no joy!

The 90's team under Balme teased us and our defence was never up to it under The Rev including the 2000 smashing by a champion team.

Ah the rock bottom 07 to 2014 years when in 2015 you could see the development of a team and list coveted by PJ, Roosy and released to Goody in reasonably good shape. As usual 2017 2018 and 2019 tested us again and Covid intervened plus Cains ruined our hopes in 2020.

2021 IMO promised a lot providing about 7/8 things happened. Fortunately they did plus a couple more and voila a stirring and brilliantly executed raid on the AFL silverware was achieved. The Club  has been reborn and indeed reshaped from top to bottom thanks to the excellent follow up work of many and on and off the field a dynasty is not out of the equation.

Now that journey beats a "Johnny come lately " fan from say 2015 and so will the next few years be when we value our success achieved the hard way.

I live in Castlemaine and was light on for Demon company (plenty of Dogs fans) but serendipitously, it turns out the bloke who lives across the street is a hard core Demon.

Still, the fact that Castlemaine is not a Demon hotbed hasn't stopped me from wearing an item of Demon clothing every day since the Grand Final.

I had a similar experience on Sunday. I walked into the ground at gate 3 and decided to grab a cofee before the celebrations, and stood behind two guys that sit behind me in my designated seat on game day. Much celebration as we have not seen each other since "who knows when" (pre CoVid). Was really nice seeing them again.

If you are on here guys, look forward to seeing you again Round One

We welcome all back to the club.

You can’t have qualifiers on who can be a demon AND be a strong club into the future.

I prank fellow Deez in Canberra. I rush up to them with an intense look on my face . . .

"Have you heard the news?"

"No what?"

(They are thinking it's got something to do with lockdown, COVID outbreak, etc.)

"Shoot, so you haven't been told?"

"No what? What's happened?"

"I better tell you then . . . the Deez won a premiership 72 dayz ago".

Both parties pizz ourselves laughing and relive the game for half an hour.

Reminds me of an essendon [censored] I know.
When they were on top he was continually in my face.
When they fell off the map I got in his face to be told he didn't really care about the footy anymore.
Funnily enough I haven't heard anything footy related from him for about 15yrs.
He's still a [censored] of the highest order though.
Cannot stand people like that.

Also got a niece who grew up a melbourne supporter who started a relationship with a Richmond supporter around the time of their 1st recent flag.
She now declares herself a mad Richmond supporter even sporting a couple large skanky Richmond premiership tatts.
Cannnot stand people like that either.

Yesterday I was looking for Castlemaine carpenters on Facebook and found one Ben Hovey. A quick squizz at his profile showed he was from Geelong. I'm assuming he is the same Ben Hovey who as a kid used to ring up Demon Radio (and who was from the Geelong FC Hovey clan). So there's one other Dees fan here.

I live in Northern Wollongong.  It's a real bastion of league these parts. I never find any Dees supporters. Last year I met a real estate agent that followed the tigers.

I didn't care... I lowered myself and spoke to him about footy for eons

NB...by lowered, I didn't mean because he was a real estate agent.

Ps if any dees fans about please message me.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
