Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What do people think of Hustwaite? 13 might be a bit early for him but he's a tall (194cm) midfielder that can also play defence that i think could add a bit of class to our list and midfield with his decision making, composure and ball use. I've seen a couple of people link him to a Scott Pendlebury type and could help a lot with our inside 50 use.

Doesn't fit the powerful midfielder mould we seem to like, nor is he quick

Beware. Sometimes, the media and so-called experts overhype players. This seems to be the trend this year with a number of South Aussies like Keeler, Lemmey, Munkara, Scully and this bloke.

This time of the year every draftee is the next big thing some make it while others fall by the wayside because they don't have the stomach for the hard yards.

The good ones have the ability and the work ethic to become great players a perfect example is Gawn who during the early years was big but overdid the drinking, smoking and partying unit someone told him the exit door was opening and he knuckled down and became a great player and captain.

Another is Clayton Oliver who was overweight because of injuries but had great potential proven by his Morrish Medal win, he was told by a recruiter he had to lose some number of kilo's to be considered and he work hard to lose the weight and guess what he is one of the greats at the MFC and he may become an AFL great in the end.

Oliver is an AFL great. The best contested possession player in the game.

I really like this kid. Mid/forward with pace and super competitive. He'll be one that you love to support and opposition fans will hate him. Don't think he'll last to pick 37 however.

He looks like an annoying little p rick. I 100% dislike Charlie Clarke already

Let's get him!

Today, I re-watched a replay of the Vic Metro v South Australia NAB Championships Under 18 game from GMHBA Stadium earlier this year (a couple of the above didn’t make the SA side) and the performance of the South Aussies was absolutely horrible. The effort was poor and an embarrassment for their coach who’s been around for a long time. They made the Victorian boys look good (which many of them are) but I was shocked at how poor the Croweaters were on the day.

That's why I put Max Gruzewski as that target with our second pick. Plays forward and back, strong hands and a good size albeit on the lower height of a KF at 193cm's. I see a bit of Steven May about him. I'm sure Jefferson will be a decent KF who has been touted as the second best KF, but I rate Gruzewski higher, simply because he's ready to go, has that mongrel about him and can play both ends and he's fallen down the draft order as he was injured mid year so is a bit of an unknown.

Jefferson won't be there for our 2nd pick nor will Gruzewski . It's one or t'other at 13 if we don't rise in draft beforehand.

There's only ONE Clarry destined for even more greatness. Not mentioned enough and very underrated by opposition  supporters. Respect is owing from 17 other Clubs fans!

Highly touted key position forward Matthew Jefferson has filled out considerably, adding six kilograms to his lean frame since the beginning of the year.

The likely first-round prospect was a stringbean at the beginning of the season, weighing just 78kg at 195cm, and he has more size to add as a stay at home forward.

I get the feeling Geelong are doing just that with their boy Jhye Clark and have no intention of taking him at all. I don’t really see it with him.

Gruzewski could possibly be there... he is predicted to go in the late 20's/early 30's. But if you had read my earlier comment I mentioned Gruzewski would be more of a possibility with a pick swap with West Coast which would land us picks 20 and 26 in exchange for 13 and 37, in which case we could take the aforementioned player and land a quality player in George, Cowan or Barnett with our first selection all of which are needs based selections and IMO is our better choice.

Take George and Barnett. George and Cowan or George and Gruzewksi and I reckon Melbourne would of nailed the draft.

When recruiters talk George up to be a Petracca like player! it's a no brainer for me. You don't pass on quality like that. Just imagine two Petraccas running around in our side!

Boom... mic drop... out!

If George was anything like Petracca, he’d be going top 3.

Doesn't surprise me, they were all over Max Holmes as a huge bolter a few years ago, they do have a tendency to reach for bolters. I feel like everyone in the media has Clark to Geelong just because it makes sense geographically and the selwood play style but I haven't seen an actual journo link him to them. Apart from plucking guys from their VFL team they've never really shown a tendency to draft local kids because they know they can just trade for them later down the track.

A small downer for George is he won't play much if at all in 2023. But could grow like others in the year off.

BTW Jefferson has grown to 195 and put on 6 kegs to 84 now. Looks a shoe in for us at 13 (14) likely and silly not to take him.

Chris Cavanagh  in HS says we may exchange 13 and 37 for 20 and 26.

We are also into Ed Allan from WA a 190 odd cm running versatile who is a taller version of Blake Howes possibly.

Makes it all very interesting.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
