Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

I wonder when some of these height and weight measurements are done. The height and weight stats for some players varies markedly, especially for key position players and ruckmen.

The player in our range who impresses me is Busslinger. I have the feeling that, provided he recovers from his surgery, he could walk into a key defensive position more readily than a Jefferson into a forward line, even at Melbourne. If the club does experiment with Petty as a KPF then Busslinger might be worth a try.

I dunno if anyone ever read the book Deadly Anna but Keeler reminds me of the ruckman 'Thumper' in that book. Stars at that level and looks powerful but I do wonder how he will mix it with the big boys.

Jackson mark2 imo.

Quite an enjoyable chat on SEN radio. Not lacking confidence but seems like a nice kid.

Draft prospect has “big shoes to fill” after Martin, Petracca comparisons

Sounds a decent kid Hewett. I’m hoping he’s there at our pick and he’s top of our list. He’s got the traits to be a mid/forward type who impacts games, and he seems physically ready to contribute in the near future during our window too.

On Cal Twomeys latest draft video he mentioned Busslinger has received an invite to draft night but Hewett at this stage had not. His comments suggested that invites were directed at top 10 hopefuls rather than for the first round in general.

From SEN yesterday:

Melbourne is clearly in the premiership window, but with several stars tied to long-term contracts, the club would expect to be in contention for some time.

With pick 13 as the Demons' first pick, one thing that is likely is list manager Tim Lamb won’t look to take a key position prospect.

That leaves Melbourne set to take the best player available, preferably a midfielder who can lead the next crop coming through.

Cam Mackenzie and Ollie Hollands look to be the two Melbourne could target. Both are likely to be around the mark of pick 13 and both are Victorian boys.

If the club goes with an on-baller, they’ll have the best in the business to learn from in Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca and Jack Viney.

It could be seen as an opportunity to put significant time into a youngster because the likely outcome is they won’t break into Simon Goodwin’s best 22 next year.

I think either of these players would be a good get.

Busslinger is a great reader of the ball mid-flight. Wouldn’t be opposed to drafting him if available (doubt it). It would free up Petty, though I still reckon he is best as a backman.

I wouldn’t be opposed to it. We need to start succession planning for Steven May eventually. I think we were on the lookout for an opportunity to get Gibcus last year for the same reason (idle speculation). If he has a series of hammy issues again, it’d put a serious dent in our credentials.

Cam Mckenzie.  Wow. He’s all class.  Unlikely to be available for us.  Should go to the Saints at pick 9-10.

I think all talk of 'succession' planning for blokes like Brown, McDonald, May and Gawn is premature and not really needed.

Given the level of talent we have on our list we can easily go pluck mature players as they become available to fill these holes.

I'm not saying we shouldn't draft key position players if they are best available, just we shouldn't be panicking about it now given things can change in one off season. Who knew 1 year ago we would replace Jackson with Grundy!

Reading this confirms that it's just guess work by SEN and not from a credible source.

If it's not coming from Cal Twomey, it's not worth listening to. Happy to read analysis of players from everywhere, but I reckon Cal is the only guy who has any idea of what teams are thinking.

I have seen so many experts picking Jefferson for Pick 13 but some like Brayden George because he has a bigger upside, I am sure that JT will have a left field pick in mind al la Luke Jackson or Kysaiah Pickett.

Agreed, and I think it’s going to be Ed Allan

The Crows have decided not to nominate Keeler as an NGA. I suspect it won't matter as he'll likely be drafted before pick 40 when he'd become eligible to them.

What would be the logic of not nominating him? Surely it's a free hit for a decent prospect later in the draft...

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
