Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

On a side note, there are a little of little Demons coming to the footy. One dad (and mum) was telling his boy that he could come to the footy 'but would have to show commitment'. I think there is a genuine groundswell of young Demons who don't show up in the stats, just yet.

I reckon most MCC members aren’t trimming the Balvenie and wagyu budget and Netflix in the face of our current inflationary pressures and 0.25 RBA OCR target increase

I'm a MCC Member (and MFC/MCC dual etc) and I definitely split a few streaming services with pals! Also had to google what Balvenie was aha.

As @tincan said the demographic has shifted a bit, dont get me wrong, still a bit of an R.M. Williams convention, but some may see it as $89 for a hat or scarf that can be bought for 1/3rd of the price at the ground.

Last year we put on 8000 between now and the end of the season. And  at a time when fans knew they wouldn't be able to see a game live in Melbourne.

I said at the start of the season, 65k would be a pass, 70k would be a good result.

i hope you're right

I think the days of MCC members being rich snobs are pretty much over. It's no longer about 'who you know', but rather, 'how long are you willing to wait'. AFL memberships cost about the same.

yeah - they let anyone in these days. even annoying  St Kilda supporters

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Perth people took up the "Adopt The Dees" so they could access GF tickets. I reckon I saw more Dees scarves on GF night than any of our home games this year. It will be interesting to see how many Dees supporters we see at Optus this week.

The way the Eagles are going, some may jump ship permanently.

seeing as richmond and collingwood have a combined membership of ~220k with under 64k turning up to see them play to get a top 8 spot...

I always wonder why you would bother being a member when the total is100k or 70-80k for that matter.

I wonder what maybe our membership split.

I believe all reserved seat memberships are sold out. I have the feeling that majority of our members are more than just 3 game members.

Even allowing for that DC even if half want to attend a "big" game they would not get in.

The goal eventually will be to have fully reserved games with vast majority of seats allocated to reserved seat members as happens in SA and WA (and Essendon games at Docklands from memory).

Scarcity may make it more valuable and people may then feel more compelled to turn up for games and use their reserved seats. At the MCG that is about 55k seats once you exclude MCC and AFL Reserves.

At the G there would have to be some GA  tickets left over for on  the day or the opposition. We would need some Cotorie groups to attend more regularly so others are not restricted if the seats are not used.

Say 10,000 for opposition for presale and 3,000 on the day. And any unsold from opposition  by the Friday lunchtime go straight to GA tickets on that day or at the ground on the match day.

At the Gabba Trust it's a walk up first in best dressed for members  on match day or you can for $15 reserve your seat snd come whenever you like on the day. Seems to work well.

A Limited number of Guest tickets (2 per member or group) can also be pre purchased by Trust members also for the day so you can have friends sit with you. Licensed or Non-licensed sections give members options of where to sit.

I was in Perth fir the GF and there was a very wide representation of Dees in the crowd with scarves etc.

Bearing  in mind that the Club made some excellent Adopt a Dee offer and all the Army had their gear handled by the Freo army behind the goals I believe.

But I sat  in an area of all Dees fans on the non members wing at ground level and most seemed rusted on or as locals going or got seats via our members for  the game and had up to date scarves etc.

I estimate at the GF at Optus that about 17/18,000 were in Dees colours and about 10/12,000 in Dogs.gear but the roar was definitely for us all day. ( except in the first half of that memorable third quarter)

Hope some real Dees fans are there on Sunday.

PS I live in Brisbane and had to spend 14 days in SA to gain entry over the border which I did on the Friday night beforehand. My fabulous cousins gave me a roderful time on SA centred in Adelaide most of the time.

Was the most wonderful 3 weeks substitute for  any overseas trip that I might have gone on that Covid of course. Prevented.

At that point Dr. AFL will become a TV game for me. I will get my "at the footy fix" at a lower grade.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
