Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen

If Belgium doesn't exist, where does Belgian chocolate come from? The Democratic Republic of the Congo, perhaps?

Let's just not ask for a show of hands

Edit: For fear of derailing a thread again, this kid is a great looking pick up by the Dees.

Second edit: my quip about Belgium is a stupid reference to the fact that it is an arbitrary state, assembled from many different regions, languages and ethnic groups who were unable to break free from the imperial rule of the Spain in the 1580s. Not much unifies it other than that, and that today they are called 'Belgians'.

Third edit: Carn the Dees! 2022 and beyond, here we come!

Most entertaining though.  Apart from chocolate should we also add in beer and fountains where the water comes out of private parts?

And again, is this the first Jacob to pull on a MFC jumper?

And have we ever had a Blake? I'm confident in saying we've never had a Taj. (Hardly going out on a limb, there).

The only thing I don't like about this player is he is from Claremont, front running soft private school boys.  Give me a south of the river player any day but the north of the river boy always questionable.

Warner, Woewodin, Motlop all SOR boys and all private schools.

Back to linguistics - is it not strange the the word "Democratic" in a nation's name (DRC, DDR - old East Germany and Kim's kingdom, the Democratic Republic of North Korea) usually guarantees that there is no hint of democracy.

We did have a close match (in a close match by the way) at CHF in our previous premiership, (1964 for those who have very short memories) Graeme Jacobs #20.

When do we get to see an interview with JVR and when are the three boys due in from WA. I am seriously looking forward to seeing our 5 youngsters as well as Luke Dunstan out on the track in our colours.!!💕❤️💙

Just watched the JVR interview with Benny Gibson he said that he had received a phone call from Tracc and lots of messages from Max and other team mates. Sounds like a well grounded young man who is feeling a bit of excitement and trepidation at joining the Premiers. Doesn’t give to much away. 😀

Am excited about the prospect of seeing young JVR develop over the next couple of years under the expert tutelage of our merry band of coaches. Seems to have the attributes to be a terrific swingman for us a la T Mac which would be invaluable. Players that can play back and forward don't come along that often.

Yes, but what country are you actually from?

I thought Belgium exists but is made up of two factions, the Frisians and the Wallopers, or something. And they can't stand each other. Like north and south Tasmania. Or if Collingwood and Richmond had to merge to form a club eligible for a new superleague.

It's the 'Loons and the Phlegms. The latter got the name because their language sounds similar to Dutch.

I actually have a friend who grew up/still has roots right on the edge of Flemish and French language zones, and went so schools in each zone at different times in her education. She speaks English like a native because both language zones taught English as a second language instead of the other Belgian language! :D

I agree. The pre season is all about the players who are poised to take the next step. We all know that Petracca will probably be handy next year, Langdon will be quite good on the wing and Oliver will have neat hands

Im keen to see who out of Rosman, Laurie, Chandler, JVR, Bedford, Howes, Baker, Weideman, Turner, Smith etc cements their place in the first 22

Me too! In fact, surely a poll is warranted, if they still exist?

For what it's worth, they're up against it (in a good way), but maybe Chandler or Smith ( although I still see some basic flaws with the latter alongside a truck load of attributes)

Put me down for Turner as being a big improver.

I agree. He looked the goods at Casey in his few appearances. While I think he'll improve a lot, I don't think he's going to dislodge Lever, May or Petty in a hurry (if we're sticking to your criteria of cementing a place in the one's). In fact, it's hard to see any of them snag a permanent gig if we have another dream run with injuries and form.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Laurie in action (and JVR and Howes).

I also saw something recently that said he is now 194cm and pretty sure when drafted he was 192, so still growing.

Will start to fill out over the next year or two and can learn under May and Tomlinson.

I have a feeling that JVR is going to be one of those players that will play so well it will be hard to ignore him ala Dogga, Riv and Kozzie.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
