Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bayley Fritsch 5-year deal

Fully deserved and very exciting.

Great season for Fritta who is really undervalued ( prob not anymore after the GF) He now can look to get an AA spot to join the growing list of Dees in this group.

Very calm  and reassuring player who  now exudes confidence class and goals galore.

The presence of BBB and T Mac and the ruck resting LJ or Maxy has made our forward line a strength. Bayley has profited through our team approach and his sublime skills. Plays like an old fashioned forward.

Another 5 years at least is great news!

Wouldn't mind signing Gus and Charlie. Oliver OOC next year.  Not that I think they would leave.

LJ unsigned but story a little while back that it is happening.

Fully expect our stable list to continue for some years to come.

Clarry is signed until the end of ‘23. Hopefully we have a large chunk of money reserved for a 5 year deal for him

His GF spilt speccy over Gawn, cat-like and Robbie-like regather and goal is one of my all time favourites

I remember watching his draft highlight reel and he reminded me alot of Flower then.
Could take a big mark and skilled on the ground.
Helped that he's about the same height, skinny and wore #2 in the clip as well.
The club knew what they were doing when they flipped him #31.

Bailey has never had problems getting the ball and having shots on goal. This year though his accuracy was infinitely more reliable.

He’s made the number 31 great again, now he’s got the chance to create his own legacy with it. Well done Fritta!

I was a doubter at the end of 2020 but his goal kicking improved dramatically. Now a dead eye in front of goal. Great news that he has signed on for 5 years

I was very frustrated by his lack of physicality too, particularly playing along Melksham, but the last 2-3 weeks of the H&A season he turned this around and brought physicality into the finals series. His presence and ability to hit the scoreboard helped us win a flag.

Well worth the contract extension. Again, we're likely offering more years at lesser dollars to spread out the TPP.

There's another thread on here about favourite goals.

This one from Bailey was mine. From this goal on I thought we would win. In the blink of an eye the dogs lost their 19 point lead.

All  the boys did the rest.

He always had a reliable technique so it was probably more of an effort to change what was going on between the ears.

so I reckon a lot of coaches don't consider him a threat.

Strongly disagree with the notion that coaches don't rate him.

He fills the gaps of the leading lanes that either Brown or Tmac (Weid) create. His assets are his hands and his leap and his read of the play, and then the silk of his kick - he is highly highly regarded with AFL circles, as has been for a few years.

The question for each coach, is about how they allocate their own assets. Once Brown and Tmac (Weid) has been covered off (as each have shown they can kick multiple goals many times throughout the year - who is left to cover a fairly unique player who isn't tall, but plays tall... he's on to the 3rd best defender, who is a mid size, who wont typically have the leap or is deficient in other attributes.

Fritsch's body of work ALSO means that defenders are well aware of his ability- so defenders also have to second guess whom to commit to - giving both their own defender AND Fritsch, often enough time (milliseconds) to react to the flight of the ball moreso than the defender who is 'panicked' about whom of the 3 (or 4 if Jackson/Gawn floats down) is the bigger aerial threat.

Fritsch's biggest strength is his ability to play on the opposition's intercept defenders and make them accountable. We've seen that a good defender (especially talls) can keep him out of the game if they stick to their defensive task (because he's undersized and only a mediocre athlete) but you simply can't cheat off him to help out your team mates because he's so great at finding the space a turning that into a score. He's especially good at being threat from the goalsquare, which takes these offensively minded talls/mediums out of their comfort zone and anxious to get up the ground to help team mates. He makes good decisions about his positioning that force his opponent to gamble.

The intercept game is so important in modern defences and his role is useful to breaking that down.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
