Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Grand Final Celebration at the G

I timed my run beautifully, got to my seat a minute or so before Gus took the mark and put us in front.

Had great seats down near the boundary and the club did a great job getting the past players involved. Particularly loved seeing Junior McDonald there, Schwarta, Wiz, Neitz, Febey (not sure which one?) and of course the Rev. Trav Johnstone looked like he was having a good day, I also saw Tingay, Newport, Green, Steve Smith, Strawbs O'Dwyer, Greg Healy and a bunch of others I've forgotten to mention.

There was one player I couldn't pick though, was wearing number 9 in a late 90s/early 2000s iPrimus jumper which wouldve been the era Neitz wore it. Looked to young to be Alan Johnson so not sure who it was anyone have an idea?

It was a really good day put on by the club, much better than I expected. I saw some kids towards the end of the replay getting a bit bored so was glad I left mine at home.

Lots of talk around doing it again in 2022, going back to back etc let's hope the club can build off this and create a dynasty with this list.

Think it was leoncelli , he and rigoni were kicking in to the paint tin at quarter time

I reckon that was Andrew Leoncelli, who did the Kick for Cash at Quarter time with Guy Rigoni, but for some reason he was wearing a No 9 jumper.

You should’ve done a Me. I started in my allocated seat, way up in Level four, about ten rows in from the back wall. By halfway through the last quarter I was on the fence. So I got to see the presentations etc. really well. 👍🏽

I just loved how many young kids and families were there on the day.

The club is clearly trying to push for that next generation of supporters, and I think the strategy is working - just need those 5-10 year olds to experience another 5-10 years of success and they'll be hooked for life.

(mwahahahaha it's all proceeding according to plan)

Had a wonderful day. Went with dad, my brothers and their families. Really lovely day. I saw the grand final with dad but this was the first with my brothers. Although I know it off by heart, still cheering like it was the first time (felt a bit silly.) The presentation felt a bit artificial but I do like that they do it for us.  I was so glad that all of us (father, brothers, nieces and nephews) all got their photo with the cup. We got the photo with the replica cup and naively thought it was the real one. We were ready to go, but then we saw the line. We realised it was for the other cups. Almost didn’t go as only the 1959, 1960 and 1964 ones are authentic. Since the line wasn’t too bad, we decided what the hey. Sure enough we get in and see it’s a 2021 cup. Our first reaction is: huh? So we get our photo all together. Got a bit suspicious when brother is told to “keep his hands off.” Not sure what’s going on, we go back to the other cup. After some searching, we finally see where it says it’s a replica. We were totally fooled. I would have been horrified if we’d realised we’d only got a photo with a replica cup.
Where I was we were caught in a wind pocket. Unfortunately I only wore my demons gurnsey with jeans, so I started getting freezing. By the second quarter I was so cold, I didn’t know how I would cope. Luckily my older brother is a true gentleman and let me wear his jumper, even though it was like a tent on me.

All in all a great day. Can’t wait to do it again next year. Hoping we still have a family day pre-season.

Just a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. The crowd re-lived every goal like it was live. There was so much joy and emotion, even seeing grown men hugging during the replay.

The roar when Wiz and Schwarta got their hands on the cup was awesome but the standing ovation for Neale stole the show for me and was a tear jerker. I’m so stoked he got to see a flag and enjoy this occasion today.

There is a serious sense of belonging to this club at the moment, and it’s not going to go away any time soon.

Thankyou MFC

Neale is royalty at both Essendon and Melbourne. Has there ever been a player or "football identity" so universally admired and respected?

Everywhere above ground level is a wind pocket. It never seems like much at first but eventually it gets in your bones. In season I wear long johns and a ski jacket. Toasty warm while others around me get hypothermia.

In my infinite wisdom I brought a throw rug which saved my mum recently out of hospital from pulling the pin and going home. It was very important to me that I go with her cause it was my grandpa (her dad) who put me  onto the Dees as a young lad fresh down from Brisbane. I consider that blanket football royalty now, and my decision to bring it an absolute win.

Great day at the 'G.

Robbo and Clint as hosts were really, really good.

Replay was brilliant. The booing of Caleb Daniel, the brutality of Viney crunching opposition players, the crowd reaction to the 3 late third quarter goals was immense. 35000 Dees fans going off was brilliant.

Singing The Grand Old Flag at the game's end was very loud, and I belted it our until I was hoarse.

The kick for cash with Rigoni and Leoncelli was so well done because they both almost got it in twice.

Robbo and his band: I was expecting cringe-worthy mediocrity. But they were fantastic. Great song choice which helped, energetic, and perfectly suited to the day.

Past players were a real highlight. To have Steve Smith and Gary Hardeman carry it together really spoke of the agony of 57 years. A huge shout for Ox and Wiz as they handed it over to Brad Green and James MacDonald, who in turn gave it to Jones and Jetta.

Garry Lyon was a wonderful MC. Funny, focused and inviting.

Biggest highlight was the crowd reaction to Neale Daniher. Standing ovation that went on and on, and he himself got quite emotional.

Big Max giving a great brief chat with that quirky grin on its face, and Goody given his chance at last.

And the cup held high!

And pre-season starts in earnest tomorrow - Carna Dees!

Gary Lyon as MC introduced Salem as the greatest ever number 3 for the club, but immediately followed that with a ‘[censored]’ under his breath, that was evident to all.

Like most of the others who attended, I found the entire post replay presentation moving and exciting. I think I’ve watched the replay too many times and couldn’t get overwhelmed again.

Robbo and band were surprisingly outstanding in my opinion, whilst the ‘relay’ of ex players with trophy in hands was a wonderful touch.

It was an almost surreal experience to be amongst so many like-minded Dees’ supporters, and I truly believe a Demon juggernaut has been released.

Lived vicariously through the snippets posted on social media and the Demonland commentary. I’m actually spewing I missed this more than not being able to get to the GF, which even in normal circumstances I probably wouldn’t have been able to get to anyway.

Sounds like it was a great day.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
