Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Daisy Pearce - Coach?

Ollie fan

So Daisy has been accepted into the Women’s Coaching Academy - The only one of the seven selected who is an active player and not a current coach or assistant coach.

I am a total fan of her as a commentator; I think she is by far the best analyst of them all. Let’s hope she can end up as a coach, perhaps even the senior coach of our men’s team in due course? Or at the very least, as a strategist/analyst.

why not, she analyses the game a lot better than the vast majority of so called "experts" in the industry. But here's hoping she gets to play in our first AFLW premiership before venturing down the coaching path.

People talk about the great culture we currently have at our club. Daisy is an integral part of that.

Loved the way she explained to that buffoon BT that the reason why Langdon had kicked the ball past Pickett to the next contest (in the 3rd qtr) was because it allowed the defence to roll up and intercept in a much better field position if the contest was lost. On cue the Dogs win the ball back and kick it to just back of the wing and May intercepts. No wonder BT is limited to "wow" "gee" comments. In one of the other commentaries (Carey I think) it is mentioned about how disciplined the Dees are in not kicking to the fat side where if they turn it over it is a much easier transition out for the opposition. Daisy has a great understanding of all this and is very good at explaining it.

To be honest, it is possible that in the long term, she might be the first woman to coach an AFL team. You have to be slightly insane to take it on, and I don't know if she has the madness, but she has every other attribute.

Need more ladies coaching AFLW teams with prolong success before taking on the mens competition.

She is without a doubt one of the hardest working players in either AFL or AFLW, she knows football as well as anyone i have spoken to, given time, encouragement and the right environment and she could easily  be anything. It would be a crime if we didnt offer her a job as soon as she hangs up the boots.

If she wants it ... Less aggravation doing commentary. Equally though, she wouldn't be doing the course if she didn't have ambitions in that direction.

No doubt she will be the Coach of the Demons W team before too long.  Has all the tools and is a pioneer.  She would be throwing away a fair bit of money in the media though, her role with 7 will only grow.

A woman coaching an AFL men's team? it's hard to imagine but things change huh? obviously no reason why not but it'll take some time for that to happen I reckon

She should be able to do both the AFLW coaching and channel 7 commitments as the seasons don't really overlap.

Aside from her obvious acumen in football strategy, I think she's also got the other key (or perhaps even more important) ingredient of the people/relationships aspect of coaching. The number of players on our AFLW list and, in fact, in the AFLW at large who are there in some part because of Daisy is impressive - not just in the general inspiration sense but because she actively recruited them. She's obviously very capable of sharing a vision and getting people on board to fulfill a mission, surely a major part of coaching. In a way, because of how women's footy has developed, she's been a coach since her days at Darebin. Also is very astute in dealing with the politics involved in being a figurehead, being the first, etc.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
