Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A gun forward who Mark's above his height and stronger than his size would indicate.

Some incredible game winning performances including a stunning effort in the granny that was the catylist of our comeback.

A guy sends a text to his next-door neighbor:

"Bob, I'm sorry. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess: I have been helping myself to your wife when you're not around, probably more than you. I know it's no excuse but I don't get it at home. I can't live with the guilt any longer. I hope you'll accept my sincerest apology. It won't happen again."

Feeling outrage and betrayed, Bob grabs his gun, goes into the bedroom, and without a word, shoots his wife.

Moments later the guy gets a second text: "Really should use spell check! That should be "wifi. Technology ha....it will be the end of us.

I had this idea all season that he was a hot-and-cold performer. The stats don’t support it. He had some poor games - who doesn’t? But he scored at least once in every game, and obviously set a few completely alight.

I was also worried he might not perform in the highest pressure games. LOL

The goal over the back in the third quarter illustrates his class. Firstly, he damn near marked it from way out of position but Gawn got in the way. Secondly, with the way he landed he could have been forgiven for falling over, but instead he hit ground at full pace and charged in to open goal. Probably the most crucial of the 6 because of the context of the game, and that it was from a contested ball.

Great season, great grand final. Can’t wait to see him back it up next year.

Maybe a view based on his efforts last year where he struggled with about a goal per game. Quite a few goaless and no big bags.

I think about 20 for the season.

Talk about improvement and I dont believe we have seen his best yet.

He must be hard for teams to find an opponent for.

Does number 31 proud.

He really stepped up after Tmac started to struggle and won a few games close to by himself.

Because he doesn’t have the machismo, buffed physique and swagger of a typical AFL footballer he was constantly undersold because he doesn’t do the Jack Viney stuff. I always thought he was a pretty good player. His marking, leading, goal kicking and balance is elite. Just don’t expect him to do what he’s not built for. Now I have to go and watch his GF highlights again.

Electrostatic attraction?  Has he hidden some wires in his mitts?

Part of the forward improvement from all players was the placement of Benny Brown at full forward and his competitiveness at marking and running around and leading.

He made it much easier for all as he took the first defender. Fritta then got  either the third or fourth defender depending upon whether Maxy or Dogga were resting or not.

Maxy snd Dogga's total of goals scored improved also as the season progressed.

What an inspired price of recruiting BBB was and he will be better in 2022 as he will be even fitter.

Improved his accuracy this year and 59 goals was pretty impressive for the player who often got the 3rd best defender. One of the reasons we had a successful year imo. Oppositions had to match up on Bbb and Tmac before The magnet. If maxxy or jacko went forward , he often got 4 defender.

So correct Satan I made the same point on Page 2 of this post.

Look how our goal scoring improved when BBB came in near the end of  the season. Fritta Jacko and Gawny all scored more as more defenders were needed to mind these guys. Then you had the smalls plus mids at ground level!!

What also needs to be remembered is only one forward out of six is the target of a forward entry, and key forwards get a higher percentage of these, otherwise defenders will be encouraged to zone off them. Then good teams also have goal kicking midfielders (great teams, rucks) - who bypass the forwards all together! So of course there are going to be games where he doesn't kick goals or looks quiet - that does not mean he is playing poorly or "hot and cold".

I posted this in the 'Link Round Up' thread, but felt it fitting that its posted here as well.

Enjoy!

I brought this up in another thread where this video was linked, but wow, is Fritsch a nightmare match up or what? He's too quick for a tall defender and too much of an aerial threat for a small/medium defender.

One thing I noticed while watching his 'All The Goals' video is that very few of his goals seem to originate from free kicks. After a rough glance through the video, it looks like only three of his goals came from high contact/holding free kicks while another three came from 50 metre penalties.

Bayley works hard for his goals, which is part of the reason he's so good to watch. Can't wait to see how the rest of his career unfolds.

He does, but then in a funny way he doesn't seem to. He's one of those players for whom time seems to slow. I also noticed in 'The 59' how much Tom McDonald was involved in the delivery to him. Also noticed quite a few one-hand scoops on the run, of which 'that' GF goal was the pinnacle - a trademark unfolding? And isn't it great to see good old fashioned leads, to precision (yes, precision!) delivery, culminating in leaping chest marks.

Fritta has always impressed me the way he took being omitted for the 2018 Prelim.  When I look at the Hawks final the previous week I can see why he was dropped , but still it must have been hard.

He could have dropped his bundle as a 21 year old, etc..., but didn't and stuck with the club for whatever reason.

He was the player I was most pleased for because of that hardship and his ultimate 6 goal GF performance.

he's now one of 23 Dees Immortal from 2021.

Good point Durango.  he also has soft hands  - watch him Mark the ball on that lead to James Harmes. He caresses the ball into his palms. A beautiful thing to watch.

If in doubt - watch a replay of any mark by Chris Dawes.

Watching that collection of goals, a few things really stand out. He is certainly able to find space very quickly, when there is not much space to be found. His kicking for goal is really good. His football nous is outstanding. And very importantly, I noticed that a lot of his goals were kicked when we were either behind or when the scores were close – in other words, he is very much NOT a downhill skier.

Fair call. His fourth was awesome and I think he may have marked it, If Max didnt try. Great cat like reflexes to land like that and then goal. It was on par with Tracs worm but seemed to fire everyone up so perhaps it was better. He could have finished the day with eight. Must have been a close second for the Norm. He's a tough forward size wise to cover. I wonder who we would play on someone like him.

He doesn't miss too many, but it's interesting how many of his goals just sneak through close to the left-hand goal post.

His accuracy has really improved.  He does lead and kick a lot from pockets so that must be a factor.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
