Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The newspaper formally known as a newspaper but has become a gossip paper the Herald Sun is reporting that the players from the two sides nearly came to blows over a song after the ground final, gee Campbell TMZ will be after you for news down under, what an embarrassment of an article and an embarrassment of a newspaper they have become.

Our agents in Perth have sleuthed out this incident and have uncovered what really happened.

Some Western Bulldogs supporters were on the balcony of a hotel. A hotel that doesn't have a 3rd storey. Some Melbourne supporters walked by. Some high spirited banter followed, which escalated to sledging. One or two of the blokes from each group wanted to go on with it but were met on the stairs by bouncers who told them if they wanted a punch on, said bouncers would oblige, with relish. Dogs guys went back to drinking, Demons guys went on to where they were going originally.

Many Perth pubs and nightclubs are a throwback to what Melbourne entertainment venues were like in the 1970’s. Anyone living in the 1970’s would remember those big suburban beer barn blood houses. Perth still has them. Respectable people make sure they get out of suburbs like Northbridge quickly before 11pm after the restaurants close. I don’t go to these venues but one only needs to drive past them to see brawls spilling out late at night. Seen a few in the past couple of years.

Perth must have a severe shortage of nightclubs if both sides found themselves at the same club.

"Hey fellas, we're not out to get into arguments. We just wanna have a good time. We could just go to another nightclub. Instead, let's pay $10,000, which we happen to carry around in cash, to stay here with the killjoys." These situations happen every weekend.

It mentioned about tension from the clash late in the season, where things got personal. I seem to recall Hannan getting a late goal to seal it and he carried on like a pork chop which started some argy bargy. Not sure if it was the issue, but remembered thinking how pathetic the dogs looked.

Anyway, we own them now..

It seems all very fanciful, but I can't help but think how hilarious it would be if the Bulldogs were that immature and precious that the playing of this song upset them so much they wanted to fight about it.  What sort of adults would get upset by that??

If it's that Freed from Desire song then I also find the playing of it upsetting...but not to the point of violence.

I've spent many evenings in Northbridge past 11pm. Guess I'm not a respectable person huh

I listened to the original story from Campbell Brown on Jonathan Browns new podcast.

Sounds like the Bulldogs players really rubbed in the loss in round 19. The rest of it has been covered well in the thread but this part interested me.

Campbell Brown from the podcast:

"Melbourne and the Doggies played in Round 19 here at the MCG and apparently the Doggies touched them up a bit. Beat em convincingly. It was raining and it got a bit heated, it got a bit personal and after the dogs won, they absolutely gave it to some players from Melbourne and um, they were abusing them and really let them know, you know, what they thought of 'em. Some of these players had played in flags for the Doggies and they were giving it to Melbourne players and the Melbourne players didn't necessary like it too much.

Then when they played em in the Grand Final (obviously you know, we know the result there), the one thing that really sparked the Melbourne players was the song that the Doggies played after the Prelim win in the change rooms that got filmed. (Freed from Desire) So, it gave them added motivation, right? There's already animosity there."

"So anyway, after the game when Melbourne won it, they played some songs in the change room but then they went out to the middle of Optus stadium and they linked up and sung the Melbourne Theme Song"

"Then they played 'Free from Desire' right, and there were a lot of people, like 'Was that in bad taste? Was  there something more to it?  Or is it just an anthem that people play?  Well, they did it to stick it up them"

There were only a few of the 2016 Premiership team playing:  Bontempelli, Wood, Libertore, JJ, Daniels and maybe Hunter.  That is pretty much the leadership group, no?   Very poor role models if that claim about 'abusing' our players is true.

Our leaders walk the talk on humility and respect.

If they are upset about our players singing 'Freed from Desire' they are as soft off the field as they were on the field in the GF.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
