Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For me, it's meeting iike minded supporters going about their business: in the car park, at the shops, at my local dentist and greeting them with a heartfelt "Go Dees" and who have thought there was so many?. It's walking around my neighbourhood and seeing all the red and blue banners, still flying three weeks later, puts a pep in my step and a smile on my face, and still getting emotional when watching the replay for the "umpteenth" time as Clarrie puts through the last goal of the 3rd quarter, still makes the tears well up

My inexplicable grudging acceptance that the one or two thousand Demon supporters that make it to our one H & A game at Optus each year in the past will be no more. Its going to be VERY interesting to see how the premiership has influenced our supporter base here in the west.

Speaking of ‘Little Things,’ I have some ‘Tiny Team’ members that I won from the club…

For me it's seeing Melbourne engraved on the cup

I've only just realised that this will be our first Premiership cup with the words "Australian Football League" engraved at the top. All the rest will say "Victorian Football League". There's no real reason for it, but that realisation is in itself an additional pleasure.

Seeing the joy on players faces, that an impossible dream has been realised. And seeing their love for the club. To see their mateship. Their bond. That our champions don’t want to go elsewhere to have the premiership winning experience. To have a club that players want to play for rather than leave. To have young guns like Tommy Sparrow and Kade Chandler re-sign  overnight. For Sam Weideman to state that he loves the club and wants to be part of its future. For Luke Dunstan to want to accept the challenge of trying to break into a champion team. To have only good things being said about our once down trodden club. To enjoy all the positive comments and feelings. To not have to put up with negativity.  To look back with pride and look forward to the future.

Gee it feels good. It feels so good.

Wearing my demons cap and premiers mask every day and having people notice and say Go Dees or I’m so happy for you.  And saying how much they love Max Gawn even though they don’t barrack for the Dees.

and seeing a Hawthorn mate suffering is very enjoyable too!

Is Max Gawn the most popular AFL player in the country? I suspect so.

Possibly also the most instantly recognisable, too (perhaps equally with McDonald-Tipungwuti)

Playing golf last Saturday here in Qld with Carlton and Richmond supporters plus a Penrith one and myself and Penrith guy sang the Queen song," we are the champions" that many times it Pee'd off the Blue and Tiger mates big time. It was gold.

I keep saying this, but they really are the worst commentary team I have ever heard.

BT with his made up words and constant need to tell the "points difference" at the height of his call, and Brayshaw and his annoying as hell voice. They have a unique ability to call some of the enjoyment out of the game.

And I must be alone in that i HATE watching the replay of his "bang, bang bang" call. When you can't think of anything to say in the big moments, pick a word and repeat it. The call from Commettis mob of the same 3 goals is a nice comparison if you can find it.

I have to differ with you about Bang! bang! bang! bang!.  I just love it.  JB is a right royal pain but it was just right for that moment.  Thank God it wasn't BT as he would have been making inane comments about some irrelevance.  Discussing with my Dees Mate last night we agreed that Daisy was head and shoulders above the rest on the night which considering she was watching her Club win the flag was no mean feat.

Quite a contrast between Daisy, who is one of my favorites on any AFL media, and the BT/Brayshaw combo who are head and shoulders above all as the worst currently in the game. They are as bad as Rex Hunt at his best. "Kouta Fida Meedees kicked it to the left of the stick"

Just shockingly bad.

But that "bang bang bang" call has me shaking my head every time I hear it. A historic football moment ruined by a hopeless caller.

Another little thing: yesterday Jon Ralph had an article in the H/S about the 18 coaches and what needs to be ‘fixed’ during the off-season. There was a variety of problems that he feels need addressing, eg. Re-jig of midfield, key position players etc. For the Dees he simply said:

MELBOURNE -

Got nothing for you.

I love when friends and family say "are you watching the 3rd quarter AGAIN?"

I love the gushing bulldust here on Demonland - and the smug feelings I get reading it. Loving it.

I love speaking to the Blues, Pies and Bombers fans from my past, and telling them they are all [censored], and we are the champions. I have been waiting a LOOONNGG time for this. I probably shouldn't be enjoying it so much, but I really, really am.

I love the time spent on the internet looking for that perfect piece of memorabilia.

I love the way long-suffering past players have been welcomed back into club life with genuine warmth.

As my avatar suggests, I’ve been around for a long while.  During my time on earth, I’ve been very fortunate to enjoy the very best of our ‘golden era’, and (I guess), less fortunate in a ‘football sense’, to endure the post 1964 ‘doldrums’.
Over the years, I’ve said to many friends and acquaintances (most of whom don’t really understand my passion for the Dees),  that all I want to see before ‘the inevitable’, is another Melbourne Premiership.
Since our glorious 2021 win, several of those friends and acquaintances have reminded me of my idle comment. They know, but don’t understand, that when my number is up, I will die a happy man.

And many more to come Deeoldfart. Like you, I have experienced the joys of the 50's & 60's and have weathered the storm since then,  but looking forward to see what this team can produce. I, and a lot of people are going to enjoy the ride.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
