Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Looking closer at the table I notice that Swooper’s 87 team is the only one in the list that was not premiers, Carlton were that year.

Doggas, do you know if the table is “finals series best percentages”, or “premiers, final series best percentages” and there has been a slip up not crediting Carlton in 1987?

Hey mate, just had a look at the '87 finals on Wikipedia, the reason Carlton aren't included is the table only counts 3 games or more - Carlton only played 2 finals in '87. I believe it simply measures best percentage over 3 or more finals.

It would seem so typically Melbourne to be the only member of that list to not win a flag, and be so high up on the list too.... but guess what, we won the [censored] flag this year in dominant fashion so any talk of "typical Melbourne" can go in the bin along with the Norm Smith curse!!!

And discussed how insane it was that in the home and away season teams only averaged a touch over 27 points against us in second halves. And the fact it was even lower in the finals.

Looking back at the 1987 year, I note the following:

Carlton premiers and minor premiers, end of season percentage 138,

Melbourne night series winners,

Carlton two finals games, both against Hawthorn, pf 184, pa 136, finals series percentage 135.3

Including 2 finals games for year 87 alone I n the table doesn’t alter our position on the table

And we all wonder the “what if Jimmy hadn’t” from that year.

Bin, those stats might be interpreted to read that we came out hard in the first half of games and did what we needed to win in the second half, as you discussed in the podcast.

The scoring accuracy was a constant between first and second halves. Opportunity for Williams and Stafford to do some fine tuning over the preseason and lookout.

Every non-premiership year is going to be such a let down.

Just think of it as a necessary evolution of your MFCSS, Andy.

We would have gone into the GF limping, at least 3 players down, including Robbie, and got absolutely belted. Much like ‘88, but different opponent.

Just getting around to listening to this episode and loving it so far, but I am going to pull you up @binman on your point about Oliver not chasing in the Bulldogs pre season game. I reckon it's rather hard to chase when you're not playing in the first place. 😜 Unless I'm mistaken, that was the first game Clarry has missed since his debut season.

In fairness to @binman that match felt like a lifetime ago but good point nonetheless.

But I'm right to say he didn't chase then am I not?

Must have been one of the others preseason games. Good pick up.

Was at both the semi-final and elimination final flogging. After making the finals for the first time in twenty years, it was like they were on drugs against North. Biggest shellacking I’ve seen live, final or no, and a huge Dees-happy crowd. Wonderful stuff. Almost as good as you know what!

Thanks fellas for a top-notch podcast. Might have told you before, but in case I haven't, my mum is now an avid listener - counts you among her friends. She hasn't come out and said it, but I sense that she 'appreciates the tone' of the conversation...

Bringing a lot of people pleasure in difficult times. Cheers.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
