Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Luke Jackson

If that is true that he bought a house in Perth in March, then we have a serious conflict of interest. You would have to ask the question, how committed are you son? You can argue that this is a business, but the bottom line it is a football club where loyalty is tantamount. Ask Carrie, Tracc and JV. Show him the door now.

I'd show him the door after he's helped us win a second premiership.

I just got some more info from Perth. The house purchase at the time had nothing to do with his football future. I won't go into details, but I can totally understand why Jackson is returning home.

There wont be an A grader coming back the other way.

Dockers see this as an opportunity to improve their list, not square it.

They have to find a nice pick this year (top 10) and bundle it up with next years first rounder and some steak knives.

That''s the best we can hope for.

Thanks Peter...

I’ll reckon we’ll end up with one good pick - under 7 in the draft and an early second rounder. After weeks of speculation of players moving that won’t happen.

E.g. pick 6 and 21. Some fans will lose their sht but that’s the reality imo  cue the fans saying we shouldn’t accept that when we have no choice

*I don’t know anything about how Freo get the picks

people get very emotional and one-eyed around here sometimes. he's an employee. he's been offered (purportedly) a ridiculous amount of money to move elsewhere. It's a short career so i can't blame him for taking that offer. I reckon 95% of DL posters would do the same if they were in Luke's position.

He could still help us to win another flag so let's make sure we get the best from him for the rest of the season. At season's end we'll get the best deal for the club we can and move on ( i reckon it'll be a top 10 pick and next years future first)

Absolutely they would, I know I certainly would. The red and blue rosy glasses has gotten the better of some on here.

Same people are the ones praising Jake Lever for accepting for our offer of  3.5 millin dollar to join the dees.

At the end of the day he's completely out of contract. He's not doing anything wrong at all and has ever right to assess his options.

He's looking at changing employment company ans that's all it is.

If it's on the river I'd be in heaven.

He might stay and have this to look forward to, house prices in Perth aren't going to get much cheaper

Cryptic, but sounds like there is a Jesse Hogan like story behind his wish to return home. Personal reasons? Family illness? Something of that nature. If that is the case, i feel for the bloke. I think we have reached a point where the club should consider releasing a statement. The circus around this is a distraction heading into the pointy end.

It appears that Channel 7 Perth must read Demonland as you heard it here first about the house purchase.

I know MFC have made Like an offer, not the actual money but it was for a good length of time and from a very good source. Pert's management has been exemplary so of course, MFC has made him an offer which I am sure his management has given it due consideration. Clubs know they have to pay overs to get someone out of a club and interstate, even if it is their original home.

As I stated earlier look to history and how Jack Martin got to Carlton. His manager priced him out of everyone's reach and when a deal couldn't be done (some would say Carlton always planned it that way) and he went to the pre-season draft on ridiculous coin which MFC sensibly did not match. One can ask was his price warranted given his output. Maybe the Freo price tag keeps West Coast out of the frame as they have the much better trading currency. We already have seen a sample of Freo trading Bell style so I don't expect them to be gracious.

So over this. I want to get on with winning the flag this year. Jackson and Gus are both adding an unnecessary distraction with their BS.

Indeed they are, but if they are gone they are not going to say so otherwise we lose all leverage.

Gus won’t go to Freo as they don’t have the cap space for both. We can then upgrade his salary by another 100K over 4 years and keep him at the Dees. My guess is that the latest meeting is all just about negotiating tactics. Gus is not going to a bottom feeder club when he can play for premierships for the rest of his career. He just wants to be remunerated fairly.

The interesting thing is if Brayshaw is still ‘in play’ it means that the LJ deal with Freo hasn’t been locked in.

I think you should call the club tomorrow and ask them to release a statement saying whether he is or isn’t signing on. No doubt your call will be from very far way from where you grew up because you are a hard man who never gets homesick and have obviously  never changed employment

Think I recently read that certain WA areas were having stronger price growths than Sydney/Melbourne and with better value for $ etc

So a solid investment for him whether he stays or not.

If he goes he goes,  we'll get something in return - might not end up being as good short or long term as LJ may become BUT LJ helped us break the drought so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ cant begrudge him for chasing that paper

Not that this will happen but hypothetically do we have the realistic salary cap to keep Dogga and Brayshaw without losing someone else good?

(Just want to make myself feel better that we would have lost someone anyway!)

Sometimes there are more important things in life than making  investments to the detriment of life long invaluable friendships and relationships. Sometimes a deceased friend who died too young, but was so well respected in a large Victorian country community picks you, a nobody, to say his eulogy.

Just sometimes you need to stop and smell the roses..

If the players want to make it work... yes

For Jackson it's money.... we could easily accommodate two years on $650k.. but if you're offered 8 x$1.3M

Brayshaw.... far more complicated... he fancies himself as a star midfielder... is he ???

People always say “why don’t they come out and tell us”

The reactions of people on here is why.

Id be happy to know he was leaving at seasons end, he is a professional who would do his best to help us win the flag this year.
I don’t boo players, the club will dump them just as quickly. Yes it will suck when he leaves but I’ll just keep following the team.

I have full faith in Jason Taylor to capitalise on any trade deals resulting from  a Jackson trade, should it happen.

Jason is an astute judge of talent and he knows how to trade. Ironically he’s the one we don’t want to lose.

We all agree on that. But Jason is not infallible.

Would you rather have Weid or Curnow or H. McKay.

I am not blaming JT here, but trying to show that good picks don’t guarantee a good player.

When you lose or gain an AFL player, there is exposed form at AFL level and you have a fair idea of his ability. Drafting is often based on hope that development will see the player making it, but that doesn’t always happen.

That is why if Jacko goes, I would want to see one player at least, who is best 22 for us straight away, plus a top pick, plus steak knives, like maybe a Meek.

Imagine losing Jacko, and getting a couple of picks that don’t get us a regular top 22 player. It would be a disaster of sorts.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
