Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thanks for your time Freo.

Onto West Coast we go.

The reality is, WCE won’t part with pick 2, we only have Freo left to deal with. They have the worst draft hand in the League. Unfortunately, it’s going to be a “take it or leave it” scenario. He can walk to West Coast in the PSD and we get zilch. It’s just the way it is.

Without the 2021 season we look to have potentially paid overs - remember though  2-3/5 years ruined by injury. But a 2021 season with a medal does change it IMV.

It's rare but we paid overs for lever who was out of contract and nominated us. we also picked up KK because some new medical report said his neck needed strengthening and it would stop. us concussion ...

We paid equivalent of ~pick 5 for a player with enough exposed form and runs on the board that it was pretty guaranteed he'd play for us in a key role for 10 years. Statistically that isn't overs.

I think WC, Norf, GWS and Port will work out a mega deal that will involve Georgiadies >> WC, WC split pick  with GWS, JHF to Port and Norf end up with more 1st rounders. They will stack up on talent this year and end up like GWS in 5 years time.

The other alternative is WC split with GWS and offer us 3,20 for LJ while they hold onto pick 12. We could also throw in Bedford to GWS as a sweetener.

Ultimately it'll boil down to whether they want LJ or Georgiadies.

Correct pick 5 for a player that had been top 10 in b and f once and came 19th this season

Seem to remember WC talking about the possibility of splitting that pick 2 though.

In saying that, a deal will somehow happen with Freo, and I think Lobb will get traded - This is Ding Dong Bell we're dealing with remember? The same bloke who 'walked away' from Hogan negotiations.

And was part of the best defense recorded by the AFL in a premiership winning season.
Did we overpay for May who is almost 30?

You should check May's b and f record and compare it to Lever. Lever has had 1 very good season and struggles to function unless the defensive structure is set up for him where he can leave his man

Realistically, who can WCE split their pick 2 with? Giants the only other team with multiple firsts but they have pick 3 so I don't see that happening.

I also don't see WCE giving us two firsts with where their list is at. Even if they do split their 2nd, It'll be pick 7-10 this year + pick 20-25 next year. Vs Fremantle pick 13 this year and pick 9-15 next year.

He’s also a lot younger and had an ACL in his first season with us and ongoing foot issues this year.

He is a huge part of a very effective defensive unit

That is what he should always be judged on

This is correct and in response to @Kick_It_To_Pickett.

WC have ruled out trading pick 2 for Jackson alone.

They are though, open to the idea of splitting pick 2 to maybe two top ten picks which could help us get that pick we're after inside the 10.

He played 19 games this year ... everyone has injuries

I'm not a huge Lever fan (when compared with many of our other players) but he seems to be a critical player not just in a structural / role sense - but providing leadership in the dying moments when it's needed most.  Think of his kick to max at the end of Rd23 last year or his kick into the centre at the end of the carlton match this year.

I'm hoping that injuries did hamper him this year and that he will be back to last year's form next year.

Agree with most of that, but has he played consistently like a pick 5 each year? No way, but like all key positron players they are important to structure. Re the Carlton kick, unlike the Geelong one, it was a miss kick in my opinion, but points for being there first to the ball

Bagging the Lever trade is such a weird hill to die on.

Sure, we got Lever and Petty (and, as a direct consequence, a [censored] premiership flag), but with the picks we gave up we could have had...

*checks notes*

Liam Stocker and one half of a 29-year-old Bryce Gibbs...

Lever could retire tomorrow and it would still go down as one of our best trades in the AFL era.

We could and should have got Lever and the premiership without bending over to Adelaide for lesser picks.

You can argue their one vs one merits all night but the stone cold fact is that Lever kicks more goals than May.

Anyway, isn’t this the Luck Jackson thread/tome?

Interesting to read on the neutral forums that a lot of non-Dees/Freo supporters are calling this as “overs”. Is it possible that our red and blue goggles are a little too-tightly fused to our heads?

There is no universe in which we got '"bent over" by Adelaide. You don't get a proven, 21 YO gun key position player without paying a premium in draft picks, even if uncontracted. Just as Freo will need to come up with 2 first round picks (or equivalent) to land Jackson.

If we'd played hardball, maybe we'd have got him for a 1st and a 2nd round. Maybe. Alternatively, maybe Adelaide would have walked him to the PSD, or struck an 11th hour deal with another club who were willing to pay a fair price. Or maybe Freo and GC wouldn't have been as keen to deal with us the following year and we would never have landed May.

Dodoro plays hardball and 'wins' every trade week. How's that working out for Essendon?

Not talking hard ball, its just we played soft ball in just this one trade. Adelaide got more than market value. His best and fairest results and need for the team to play a particular structure for him to shine proves that

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
