Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd doubt that a mother would seriously interrupt a son's career forcing change that is not fully necessary.

As the father of a son around Luke's age and having watched any number of his friends have their chosen career paths derailed by their parents, I'd question that.

Don't be ridiculous mate, of course our footy department has been in continuous contact with both WC and Freo on any potential trade for Luke and they will be until the day he signs (somewhere).  The FD simply would not be doing their job if they were not. You don't win trades in October you win them in July.

Also I am not belting Jackson.  I love Dogga!  I am desperate for him to stay,  I think he will be the best player in the comp in future years.  I am just talking a matter of fact.

You haven't addressed either point. If Jackson nominates Freo, whatever WC have to offer becomes irrelevant, and is not a problem for Freo at all.

And of course you are belittling Jackson. You are saying that he's too immature to call his own shots. Like most big decisions in life that people make, Jackson is factoring in his family. That's not the same as your assertion that his mum wants him at Freo.

I've got nothing to do with this but I'll answer since I'm here.

GNF is trying to sell the line that a grown man - Luke Jackson is having his decisions made by his mommy. That implies that he has little or no will of his own and I think most people would find that is quite belittling.

No mate, I am just saying like many of us......... myself included at the age of 20yo my parents still had a massive influence on my decision making and career choices.  This is normal for a great percentage of 20yo boys.  It is not belittling, its just a matter of fact.

It is true that if he nominates Freo when Freo has no trade to satisfy us it would make a sticky situation.  No doubt Melb would threaten both Freo and Dogga for a trip to the draft and North Melbourne.

The point is there are no winners in this sort of breakdown. I dont believe any of the parties want negotiations to go down this path and as such Luke is far more likely to accept a 2 year MFC deal than risk the draft.

I don't know of any my friends whose parents had an influence on their decision making at 20 years of age and I didn't ask my parents when I enlisted at the age of 17. I think it would be abnormal at the age of 20 if your parents had an influence on decision making, I am quite sure Luke is able to make the final decision himself.

I have little idea about trading, but surely a proven quality young player is worth a lot more than a couple of early picks given what a lottery drafting is.

Fortunately we have Jason Taylor who makes the most of(almost) every pick, even lower ones.

The LJ budget space becomes the Grundy budget space I suppose.

Weid is a fair chance to be traded (if we find anyone interested), but his wage off the books won't make any difference at all, he'd be on very very little. Tommo still contracted and handy depth, won't be going anywhere. There may be other players who make way though. But if you think about who we've re-signed the last 2 years and who we have to sign the next 2, it makes sense we'd be mostly looking at the draft for now.

IMO if Tommo wanted to move on for greater opportunity, and the trade was favorable or at least neutral, we would let him go, especially if a big ruck/ forward was in the deal.

Tomlinson is on about $500k from memory. I think we'd let him go for free if a club would cover even 80% of that.

Weids has a year left on his contact but was put up for sale last year and there were no takers........ not even Collingwood. Melb decided to re-sign him than give him away for nothing.  He is unlikely to get any interest this year and thus likely to be on our list in 2023. Currently he has fallen behind JVR and unlikely to see senior footy again in 2022.

Tomlinson will request a trade despite being in contract. A early 3rd rounder will do it.

Bedford out of contract and likely to request a trade due to high competition for his spot.

Baker likely to be delisted

Mitch Brown a 50/50 delist or new contract, may be kept for depth on a one year contract.

Kade Chandler - contracted and no whispers of him requesting trade

Jake Melksham - was gone and had even secured a job in finance for 2023 but clearly now highly likely to get another season.

Fraser Rossman - likely to be delisted

Jayden Hunt - likely to re-sign but considering offers from other clubs.

Michael Hibbert - 50/50 retire or one more season

That's my mail.

If I told you, you would not believe me anyway.  Regardless clearly I cant tell you this. I would never be privy to this information again and I would destroy a good thing.  Its up to you if you want to believe me or not.  I will however, have a long list of abusive DLs I will be expecting an apology form in October.

Rubbish, I have been pretty much completely absent for at least 5 years. Just could not be bothered telling you my mail only to be abused. For some reason I have felt like taking on the DL abusive bullies this week.  I must be quiet at work!!!!

For the record saying who we are making a play for should never be read as we are getting.

In saying all of that if Jackson goes which is likely the Dees will almost certainly get Grundy.  We have made a huge play for him. But this you can read in the MSM and this does not mean its 100%.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
