Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I agree with that, but I am irked that you seem to hold me reponsible for what other people later said.     A number of posters have called for Luke to grow up for wanting to go home. I thought it was appropriate to say if a mother behaved like what was alledged, the mother should grow up.

As DD said - don’t believe GNF. He is simply the worst poster on here. And I include olisik and Dr D in that.

I'm not so sure...

Well we don't know, AF and we are speculating but I'm not going to believe that all this talk has been merely heresay

Remembering that LJ hasn't re-signed and that's a big pointer.  If he wants to go home (and play for Freo) the terms of a trade will probably have been discussed

Clubs work way in advance of the here and now these days.  For instance, Scully was heading to GWS long before the details emerged.  Perhaps more than a year out ... and that was 10 years ago.  We have openly interviewed Grundy.  More change

However, an in-principle agreement is a moveable thing.  Say for instance Jackson finishes off the season in stellar fashion? The trade varies?  And it can go the other way too especially if an injury occurs

The LJ budget space becomes the Grundy budget space I suppose.

Weid is a fair chance to be traded (if we find anyone interested), but his wage off the books won't make any difference at all, he'd be on very very little. Tommo still contracted and handy depth, won't be going anywhere. There may be other players who make way though. But if you think about who we've re-signed the last 2 years and who we have to sign the next 2, it makes sense we'd be mostly looking at the draft for now.

My sources tell me Tomlinson will look at moving to another club to play AFL.

Why don't you compare apples with apples when lamenting Jackson's footballing ability/consistency?

He's in his third year and has just clocked up 50 games - not bad for a ruck!

Lets compare him with say Darcy Cameron - he's also just clocked up 50 games. The difference is, he was drafted in 2016 and debuted in 2018. Sam Draper, also drafted in 2016, is up to 43 games. Sean Darcy, also from the 2016 draft, tops the lot with 81 games. I'm sure in hindsight, many would have picked Sean Darcy a hell of a lot higher than pick 38. Imagine Jackson's tally after 6 years in the system.

I don't believe it's reasonable to demand consistency from a third year ruck that's already way ahead of the pack. so long as he continues to develop and improve. His game's looking pretty good at the pointy end of the season too.

Because that wasn't the question. I was responding to the assertion that if all the draftees from the past 3 years were available, Jackson would be the no.1 pick. Daicos is already a proven commodity, whereas Jackson is still a work in progress.

So who would you take?

The other big factor is the money that may be on offer ... an extra $250k - $400k per year over a decent length of time is more than a little tempting.  Along with the chance to return home?

My guess is that at the very least, strong talks have been made between the various parties involved.  With the stumbling block being the trade value.  A stalemate looms

Wouldn't blame him if true. Shame to lose him though.

I feel the same, i really like him, as a player and as a team member, would love him to stay. May is getting older, he is great back up for Petty or May.. who else covers them at the moment?

Turner or Smith. I like Thommo too, but he’s probably at a stage in his career where he can probably win one more contract, but he needs to be playing.

His contract is also one I look at on our list with the thought ‘we’re clearly overpaying for the role that player is playing’.

It’s a win/win if he finds a new club.

Yeah good point re the cash CJ. Still not convinced on Turner, but guess we need to see more of him.

I see more upside in Turner than Tomlinson post his knee reco.

The rumours of Tomlinson requesting a trade are 100% correct.  Obviously this will not formally happen until after the season but his manager has let the club know this is his intent.

If they want to go for a mature age depth then I'd certainly be looking at Lewis Melican from Sydney if Tomlinson decides to go.

Turner has the potential to step up down back if they decide to trial Harry Petty up forward next year.

I would like to see us draft or rookie Corey Ellison.

Makes perfect sense, as with Turner coming on he may well struggle getting a game in our backline.

The dogs would be a good fit i reckon as their backline is their Achilles heel.

I reckon he'd be a good fit at Arden Street. Mature, cool head and can hit the ground running.

Cannot blame him, tough position to fill at the moment, and Disco looks a real prospect too.

Yep, good point.

And clarko has flagged he is interested in getting some senior players into the club.

Tomo has been brilliant since he arrived at the dees in terms of his professionalism, attitude etc. etc. Would be a great fit at club on the rise, with young players who need good role models and strong leaders.

And the fact that Tomo can play in multiple positions would be helpful - though i suspect his best spot is as a key defender.

Having big bodied, older defender who can wrestle with the gorillas like Hawkins would be a bonus for a young team.

And whilst a flag would likely be off the table for Tomo, being involved in rebuild under Clarko would give him the opportunity to build his leadership skills and leave a strong  legacy.

Turner. J.Smith apparently. At a pinch Tom Mac. Maybe even Weid.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
