Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I just don't see any reason or imperative for Jackson to leave the Dees 200pages of speculation and unfounded rumours has failed to shift me from this view

I full expect Jackson to sign for 2 to 3 years

BTW I WILL NOT BE RESDING THIS THREAD UNTIL THERE IS SOME ACTUAL NEWS OR ANNOUNCEMENT

Home grown key forward taken with the Cerra pick? We could ask, but the answer’s going to come back pretty quickly in the negative.

There is Treacy, the Vic Country boy, who is 19 and 195cms and tough and hard at the contest.

Him, a top pick to try and get another key forward and Meek could do it. Solves most of our problems with losing one player.

Reckon the club knows what Dogga can be offered, and any changes to the cap from the new EBA (whenever it is finalised) may allow for an increase.

No decision will be made until our season is over, which I believe a fair few posters have mentioned now. Richo talks about it here (about 5:30 in).

That to me indicates what I have said for a while. Jacko will go to Freo if we can do a deal and if not, will sign for a couple of years.

IMO he is happy to return home if a fair deal can be done and if not, he will not be devastated to stay a couple of more years and then maybe try again or even stay longer.

I think this is about an opportunity that may be available, but obviously cant happen until the season is over. Too much water to go under the bridge with various players and deals.

Just reading between the lines, seems like the club have told Jackson that he just needs to focus on the rest of the year, regardless of his decision. If he's decided to leave, it must be hard for a young fellow.

My instinct is that he’s probably going to go, I don’t think it’s about money or disliking Melbourne though. I think he’d just like to go home so if we can work out a fair deal, happy days.

I’d like a top 10 pick, a second rounder and a player who could play a role in our best 22

This. But the odds that a deal doesn't get done, and he re-signs for a couple of years are a 1000/1.

Listening to Richo, I think that the club have accepted that he's leaving, and just want to make life easy for him so that he can play good football for us for the remainder of the year.

It was interesting watching the Brayshaw video on the club site this morning talking about his contract. He said it definitely was a distraction, and half joked that the reason for the long term deal was so he didn’t have to go though it all again.

I feel for Luke. It’s been inferred here that there’s a bit more going on behind the scenes than we know. We may never hear about it all, as is his right to privacy. I do think it’s impacting his performance. He’s a kid. It must be really tough to have to contend with this everywhere he goes - and I bet the opposition on the field are into him about it.

This, in my OP is the time when Dogga should have the same mindset as Brayshaw even if it isn't going to be the biggest deal for him.

I know this could sound silly, but I just wonder if the club sees some deficiencies in LJ's game and accept that at some stage he would like to go home and see this as an opportunity to solve our key forward and ruck issues, by perhaps getting a key forward and ruck from Freo, plus a pick good enough to get another key forward in the draft.

That could end up 3 players for one, who are all best 22 for us. Tom and BBB could be on their last year next year and that allows refreshing of the list. M.Brown will be gone and who knows what the plans are for Weid. JVR is still to play and that would cover our key forwards and rucks and we could still draft or rookie a young developing ruck.

I believe that we do hold the upper hand with this deal, if it happens at all. IMO LJ will not screw the Dees. So unless Freo satisfies us, he stays for a couple of years, or maybe even longer if he feels Freo has let him down.

Freo's 1st, Treacy and Meek - we could do worse ...

Imagine how much the narrative has swayed. We went from Jackson staying, to Jackson going, to Brayshaw staying, to Brayshaw going, to Brayshaw ACTUALLY staying, and now suddenly the media is hinting that Jackson could still stay...

We should have learnt after the Dusty fiasco in 2017. No one really knows outside of the player themselves and almost always, anything in the media is mostly planted news tidbits to fuel the negotiation.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
