Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My very strong mail, and it won’t come as any surprise, is that Jackson will be playing in WA next year.  The Club even offered to move his family to Melbourne recently and it was rejected.

Thank you for passing on your mail as always

Was holding out hope, but that's that.....Hoperfully we get plenty in return.

The Club is clearly aware of his desire to go home, and realise it’s extremely likely, however, at this point it is far too early to concede and start talking trade details. The Club will not give up in their quest to retain him, however, they realise they’re up against it.

The league badly needs tampering rules.

Contracts should be sorted in the off-season.

I don’t begrudge Jacko going home. I do dislike that he’s having to deal with all of this in season.

If we keep Gus it will ease the pain a bit - I just don't want to get screwed on a trade though, hopefully Freo realise they're going to have to make the trade work not just expect they can get him to nominate, offer a late teens pick or two and say "take it or leave it"

2 first rounders, Josh Treacy and Lloyd Meek for a pair of 3rds back.

Sign Dan McStay with the bonus cap space.

Trade the future Freo pick for Brisbane’s first.

Package the 2 firsts to move up and back, ideally end up with something like picks <10 and 25.

Get a midfielder and rebuild the forward line with some combination of Gawn/Meek, McStay, Treacy, JVR in the post Brown and T Mc world (which is imminent)

McStay is going to the Pies for overs. He will upset our salary cap.

I think the play has to be for Taylor Walker whilst JVR is blooded. Walker will come on the cheap and will be dead dog hungry for some silverware.

The league needs a rule that draftees need to sign a minimum 5 years. It’s pathetic that we get this kid and he’s gone after 3 years.

Not sure how he gets to Freo though. I’d play hardball and deal exclusively with WCE for their Pick 2/3 and a top 10 player

If he leaves I’ll never forgive him for leaving us when he could have been part of long term success. He could have been drafted to the Suns and really struggled having to be the number 1 guy. He’s benefited greatly from the experience of those around him, and the opportunity that gave him to have success. We’ve undoubtedly increased his value more than he’s increased ours in terms of his next contract. Would a new 3 year contract have killed him? He’d be 25 and still able to go home on a big 5-7 year contract.

He will be reminded by me at every Melbourne game that I support the Demons, and if you turn your back on the family you have to deal with the consequences.

We need to start realising that Perth kids always want to go home. I knew this would happen when we signed him. The very reason we chose Watts over NicNat. He sold this story about having an Uncle in Melbourne and how he’d been here for Basketball etc. no doubt the COVID years have had an impact, but the lure of home is strong for West Aussies. It’s buyer beware stuff

Agree with this. If he departs end of this year, no invite to the premiership reunion, and will be remembered as having character only marginally above Scully’s

Stay 2 more years, then he be free to do what he wants, with everyone’s blessing.

BTW I love the kid but if bucket loads of money are to be thrown at him for performances like tonight then it's a risk.

If what is being said is true. I don’t think it’s going to be what’s being reported. Freo will be silly giving him anything more than 4 years.

note with interest that you say 'back in wa' not with freo @goodwindees - i presume that means meth coke are very much still in the mix, which suits us more

we won't get mcstay @DeeSpencer so forget that - he's 100% off to the filth, and i personally wouldn't want him anyway; better options out there for $3m of cap space over the next 5 years

if it's freo i'd want meek and logue as part of the deals, plus two first rounders

it's meth coke i want that first round pick in 2022 and would want 2023, but know that we weren't going to get it

The McStay money is surely not more than what we budgeted for Jackson. Once Jacko makes his call we can get in the race for him.

Walker can’t pinch hit in the ruck, can’t chase and tackle, doesn’t crash packs. Doesn’t suit our system.

McStay is the kind of forward we need that goes with a 2nd ruck and Fritsch, plus one of the older guys until a young option develops.

If he wants to leave on good terms and do the right thing by us he should go the Eagles. they have the currency to facilitate a trade which will properly compensate us. Freo don't

If he selects Freo and insists we deal with them , I'll not be impressed

Name them? That’s market rate for a very solid CHF in the mold of Tommy Mc but with healthy feet.

I have no desire for Logue unless we think Petty is our future up forward and there’s no indication of that.

logue has been very good forward for freo since they moved him there - i reckon he's got more upside than you

mcstay doesn't impact contests like tommy mac

oh, and in terms of naming them, free agents this year and players who'll go for the same for a new contract at another club who i would take over mcstay - amon from the pear, taranto from gw$

not to mention investing that money in keeping sparrow, jordon, pickett, rivers, bowey over the same time period and spending the $3m across multiple players already on our list

McStay is overrated and will just add to the list of forward woes. Walker can play the roaming CHF role very effectively.

I wonder if Lloyd Meek will come into calculations?

203cm 106kg ruckman who apparently has shown promises as a ruckman at senior level. Wins big disposal numbers at WAFL level it seems.

I only ask as I have legitimately only watched him once and that was round 1 last year at the G where I thought he held up well against Gawn for a first gamer.

Anyone know much more about him?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
