Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Eagles can't trade their first rounder this year though (unless they trade in another one or get special permission).

Either way, the goss is it'll be Freo and the club at this stage have said the deal will need to involved Andrew Brayshaw.

It's sounding like he's gone.

This is just about the only deal I would agree to with Freo.

It also keeps Gus at Melbourne for life, which is a win win.

Andy Brayshaw alongside Clarry, Trac and Viney.... who cares if we don't even have a ruckman?!

In all seriousness, this feels a lot like the Hogan situation and I am convinced beyond doubt that Jackson will grow to regret this decision.

What's with this pressure to return home by young adults to be near family and friends?  Our kids buzzed off to pursue careers and other things and have made new friends wherever they went. And without the sort of money in the bank that AFL players can have (if they have any sense).  They still keep in touch with old friends and family which these days is 1000 times easier than it was only 25 years ago.  Do footy players never grow up?

Yeah, I'm probably a rotten parent.

Totally agree - go out and see the world young man! Seriously - he’s in the same country and a flight away.

Really hope there's a shipment of pens coming to MFC, if anyone sees a BIC truck outside the club let us know.

You'll be thrilled to know that I saw such a truck outside the club today!

Alas, it was unloading a shipment of BIC lighters.

I really don't get it either. You're 20. You're living in the best city in Australia. You are making lots of money. You have lots of friends. Borders are open. You are winning and winning well. What is the lure to come home? You have your whole life to live a boring life in WA, but only a short time to learn from the best ruckman in the competition and play with the best midfield in the competition.

I understand players with kids, partners etc who might have pressure from their spouse to be closer to family for the sake of the kids. Jackson is 20. He will never have a better life than he does now.

Young people have no idea how good they have it sometimes. I swear!

Agree. I left home at 17. Couldn’t wait to leave.

If he found a girlfriend in Melbourne I reckon it would cure his home sickness pretty quickly

As his parents I would absolutely advise him to stick it out. There are no guarantees in life. He might hate Freo. He might struggle to fit in. His mates at home might distract him the way Hogan's did. He might go to West Coast and never win another flag.

Sometimes when you have something good right in front of you, you have to grasp it with both hands. If he was my son I tell him to get over it and have it in your contract that you can spend your off season in Perth every year. Done deal.

Agree. AFL players are seemingly the only professional athletes on the planet who can't cope with a move away from home at 18. I've never seen or heard of an NFL, NBA or football (soccer) player leave a club because they're homesick.

Brayshaw deal is being held up by Jackson’s deal. So if Brayshaw signs new deal and Jackson still hasn’t, his gone. Until then anything is possible.

My mail is he is leaning towards staying and biggest decision relates around length of contract.

The money is not an issue, he knows he will be well paid and the next contract is the big one

I anticipate a 2 year extension

Forget draft picks.

Hayden Young and Caleb Serong, thanks.

Both 21, both high drafts picks that are proving themselves already.

Or Brennan Cox for either. 196cm and 23 yrs old.

Gee it would be great to get a look in on Young.

Cox is a gun, they would be silly to let him go surely?

So the hold up is deciding if he is going to sign for 2 years or 10?

I assume the club said to him "here is a contract for 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 years". Pick one and mail it back.

Just passing on my mail Jaded,

Happy with and at the club

Knows his price is rising and will continue to rise

Also aware offers which are and will continue to be there from the west.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
