Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Luke Jackson

If he leaves I will be gutted because he will become the best ruck, and one of tbe best players full stop, within 5 years.

Everyone is raving about Tim English  and rightly so, his game had gone to a whole new level this year as his body fills out.

Tim English turns 25 in two months.

Jackson turns 21 in three months.

He's stated on numerous occasions he wants to be a one club player and has turned down Geelong advances. I don't think he's in the picture. We should be targeting Hayden Young & Rory Lobb (and any pick swaps to be more equitable) or Pick 1 & Jack Darling. Both players can play forward and ruck

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2022/06/21/the-young-ruckman-whose-future-may-sit-at-another-club/

With Port Adelaide opting to play Jeremy Finlayson in the ruck, what does the future hold for Sam Hayes?

The 23-year-old ruckman played seven games this year in the absence of Scott Lycett, but has been omitted in favour of makeshift options.

Clubs like Geelong, GWS and Melbourne would likely inquire about adding to their ruck depth, while teams like Hawthorn, Carlton and Sydney have been stretched at the position this season.

A bit superficial by 'Fantasy Freako'.

I doubt LJ's role will be to win the hit outs or hit outs to advantage as often Max does.  LJ's role will be stop McInerney from getting clean hits to the ball at stoppages and disrupt their clearance work.  Or he plays to allow our mids to 'shark' McInerney's work.

While talented, Silvagni, Dunkley etc aren't ruckman but they do a pretty good job of enabling stoppage clearances.   And I'm confident LJ will do the same.

Yes, he is clearly not a recognised tap ruckman. That may come as he fills out over the years and is able to hold his ground better. What he adds is his follow up and presence at stoppage as an extra midfielder.

The aim of the game is to win stoppage not to win hit outs to advantage.

I think if he 'fills out' any more his mobility will suffer. He is noticeably bigger this year and he appears to have lost a bit of his spring around the ground

Even with Gawns dominance we have been cleaned up all too often from centre clearances by the opposition. Advantage taps are an irrelevant stat. Most of the time it means giving the opposition heads up to who to tackle and target and seize initiative.

He's not the only one. I scour social media for content for discussion on this site so I constantly witness these reporters post contradictory opinions and information within a short space of time. They flip flop back and forth and despite being called out for it in the comments they never change. None of the reporters ever call each other out but that's not surprising. I get the concept of click bait and this tactic is their way of covering all bases to maximise the clicks.

Covering themselves so they get the "click" from either side of the argument depending on what side of the echo chamber they want their opinions reinforced from.

This is a 10 out of 10 for how you don't want to run a professional football club.

Disrespect one of your employees by offering them "unders" and then turn around and say they 'left for money'. Completely ridiculous.

Unders for Jackson at market value is probably 700-750k. His market value, or what others are willing to pay is possibly upwards of a million a year. I don’t think it’s disrespectful to offer 700-750k. We have Brayshaw OOC, and Oliver next year. We simply cannot afford to lose either. Out of the 3. I’d play hard ball with Jackson. And if he didn’t take 700-750k, the yes, he’d appear to have left for more money.

Offering him less than what the media has rumoured, and has already been rubbished, is not the same as 'offering him unders', which is what you originally stated.

You make everyone fair offers, sell them on your culture and chances of success along with that. Tough talking, under offering and 'hard ball' will only see you lose players and get a bad reputation.

Start running a club with a 'take it or leave it' approach and your list falls apart real quick.

LJ's relative drop in form is not great for us from the contract renewal aspect.

At year's opening the pitch would have been ... sign on at MFC for 2 or 3 years at a very good salary...enjoy your success and possibly some more premierships... then cross to another club on a mega deal and go from there.

Now Luke might be quietly wondering...Will the mega deal still be there in 3 years?

Getting it wrong might cost him around $7M so I sympathise with his uncertainty.

I know stats aren't the be all and end all but his 2022 is better than his 2021 on most factors.  And 2021 included his finals series.  So not sure why folks think his form has dropped.

We should be going after De Goey (free agent) if Jackson leaves, then spending the draft capital on talls

Simon 'Dog Whisperer' Goodwin will throw his arm around de Googs and bring out the best in him

I think most on here only judge him on that 10 minute period in the Grand Final! His growth has been understandable given he's a tall, but I think some want young midfield type growth - or otherwise they see him going backwards??

Let's hope so

He is a great player - yet he is very predictable, too - if we had another two seasons to 'blood' him he could be one of the greats. However, if he goes for the money elsewhere, fairy 'Nuff. A young man needs to take his opportunities.

I am just worried about his loyalty to the MFC; Daisy stayed for example, amongst enormous odds and Jackson just ain't quite in the same league. A demonstration of acute loyalty to the Dees would be first steps towards immortality on the footy field for Jackson. I hope he realises that possibility.

Hey guys a bit of sanity here please. Luke is a demon listed player and not a free agent. He cannot leave without our blessing. Freo need to trade for him and they will not have any sort of hand in the draft to satisfy our needs. The only danger would be that West Coast finish last and somehow talk him in to going into the draft. Aint going to happen, the kid has more loyalty than that. Wouldnt shaft the club that made him a premiership player so early in his career. We hold all the cards.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
