Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Problem is West Coast won't give up pick 1/2 and a future first because they know they'll be bottom 4 next year.

So then they can go and get fudged.
Is Jackson really gonna walk out on us and his premiership mates to get to the bottom of the ladder team? Come on.

Mate, that's the AFL's wet dream. It shows Free Agency works.

The reality is, we took a risk drafting a WA boy who was doing TV spots with Nic Nat prior to being drafted.

Jackson won't leave, he will sign a short term deal, and potentially go after that. but i reckon we've got him for minimum this season and 2 more.

if he did decide to leave this year we'd be very well compensated, while he's a gun and i'd love him to stay, i don't think our potential dynasty hinges on what happens here.

Jackson is the bees knees. Was all in on day one.

But if any club thinks, under the current rules condtions, he deserves a contract more than 750k a year, then im sorry you havent been watching football for the past 20 years.

Wouldn love to sign him for a long term deal. Would love to keep oliver, brayshaw, sparrow, jordan, petty, salem, bowey more.

Not necessarily talking about Luke here but in contrast to other codes AFL footballers seem far more reluctant to ply their trade away from their home town. Could you imagine Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to head back to Madeira after his year on the mainland with Sporting Lisbon to be closer to family ? "Ronnie, we've got Alex Ferguson on the phone, he wants to bring you to Man U. Do you fancy it?" "Nah, I'm off back to Funchal 'coz I miss my mammy".

As for Luke who knows what he's thinking. Maybe the night sky is clearer over in WA.

Amazing that because WCE are at the bottom of the ladder the Jackson conversation on here has gone from 'no way do we let him go' to 'how many top 10/first round draft picks do we get'

Sure WCE will be poor for several years but Freo won't be.  If he really wants to go back to WA he may choose Freo.

Anyway, its really a moot point as all the signs are he will re-sign, despite the stoking of the fire that John Ralph does every few weeks.

I remember at the time of Goodwin signing on as coach, the radio stations were at the MFC press conference. All except SEN, they were unable to do the live feed because Ralph was on swearing black and blue that he was off to coach the Crows.

Goes to show the quality journalist that he is. Until others start reporting Dogga’s move, I’d take John Ralph’s ‘info’ as a grain of salt. He figures if he’s wrong big deal, if he’s right then he was the one who broke the story. AFL

AFL journalism and accountability don’t exactly go hand in hand these days.

Let me know if I have this wrong but is he not out of contract this year? Is it not the team courting him the one firmly sitting with what would be first pick and unlikely to move much higher than second pick? If he goes this year we possibly get next to nothing  or significantly under market value, you can kiss 2 top 10 picks or the like good bye. I still dont have concern yet as any player with worth currently out of contract would wait until the CBA is done, as would the club but if this happens now it will not be pretty.

Yes, he is OOC this year.

iirc Freo are also keen.  They apparently have the cap space and Lobb may want to go east again.

It is really only Ralph regularly stirring the pot (then others quote him) and offers from WCE are more attractive click bait than offers from Freo.

Ralph is like Tom Browne, he guesses a lot and hopes to be right sometimes.  Doubt it this time.  No reason for Jackson to go now.  In a few years, maybe.

As an aside, Ralph also said WCE are going to great pains to say to player managers that Simpson is there to stay.  If Ralph is right on this it seems they have difficulty attracting players to go back home or move from the east coast.

im really confused as to why everyone thinks he will leave? Forget the go home factor his best mate plays with us, and he regularly has said Melbourne is his home now.

Not only this but how many of you have been offered jobs elsewhere for 10-20% more than what you are currently on or have currently been offered? Why would you leave a fantastic environment for that? no one would unless they were disgrutled.

WC can offer 800k a year, we can offer 700 and im sure as hell he would say yes to our contract over theirs.

Its the same as Gus, they are waiting for the CBA to come out and then that will determine how much players are getting paid etc in the coming years.

Nothing to see here.

Because he is incredibly close to his family? and that's most likely a bigger pull then staying for success.

Jackson situation is no different to any other player that have left a successful club to either go home or better offer elsewhere.

His parents are still actively involved with the East Fremantle Football Club and have big ties there. Jackson's a bit like Hogan where majority of his childhood/best mates are still there.

Jackson is a unique character and a deep thinker. Maybe the actual pull is his family alone. He knows he'll get paid really well wherever he goes. He's filled and won a premiership, maybe he just wants to be home closer to his family.

Nothing wrong with that.

From the club the messaging is that they're extremely confident and i think Gary Lyon? said he thinks he's likely to sign a short term deal, or one is on the table already.

Outside the club 'Big name W.A player who hasn't re-signed with melbourne, here is an easy headline'

reality, probably only Luke Jackson knows what he's going to do, but either we keep him which would be great or we likely win our second flag in 2 years and then start figuring out what we're going to do with pick 1, and what else we'd need to get the deal done

I would be concerned if he hasnt signed before finals but that wont happen, hes young and hes said repeatedly he loves Melbourne ( not the team) and hes not as coy as that other bloke that left us.

But all you are doing is speculating, you dont know hes a deep thinker at all.....

Hogan has left home twice now.....

Jackson has repeatedly said he calls Melbourne home now, and to be honest anyone signing a contract before knowing what the cba rights are is pretty daring.

Its all headlines and media driven rubbish, if he hasnt signed by round 16 then its an issue

The more we build this bloke up the bat sh%$ crazy the media get about how long we are going to stay on top of the ladder, and how quickly we need to be knocked off.

I remember well in the late sixties how pleased Geelong Richmond Collingwood and Carlton were to see us losing those people we know and loved, particularly if you were an inhabitant of the inner suburbs.

We shouldn't go down that path money or not.

Let’s just put it in the table.

his team mates are talking a play cut to keep Brayshaw and Jackson at the club.

West Coast will bottom out - not what he wants

Fremantle have Darcy so he will play a similar role to Jackson/Gawn today

in a couple of years he will be the number one ruck at Melbourne.

his parents have purchased property in Melbourne

i have no information either way on this front, however it simply doesn’t make sense for him to leave.

I reckon if it were me i'd be thinking i could win multiple flags in the next few years here, no gurantee either W.A club gets anywhere near this level anytime soon. he also knows in 2-3 years he's going to be the number 1 ruckman

and there is no doubt the level he's currently playing at is in part due to the combination and support of Gawn, it really allows him to play to his strengths and develop naturally. there is no doubt he'd find the situation much more difficult at West Coast for example where all eyes are on him.

WC will offer close to a Million mate. That's what he's worth to pry out of a club.

I think when on the G&G podcast he said he had no idea why Fremantle were named the Dockers and had never heard of the Fremantle Doctor.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
