Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Luke Jackson

Maybe but we haven't used a pick over 35 for the last three years and I doubt the Weid pick will be better than that ie a 2nd round pick.

We could get a better pick from Ess if we include a future pick with

weidemen but they don' have much to offer this year and they need points for Davey jr so are more likely to offer a future pick for Weidemen.

Any pick we get for Weideman (3rd rounder?) could be bundled up with a F2 for a better placed pick in this year's draft

And you're right, we've virtually abandoned using any 3rd rounder on a draftee.  Makes sense too as the likelyhood of drafting a good player past pick 35 is not good

You're probably better off with a delisted free agent as a DFA doesn't have to be trained up from scratch

So a $500k* investment (over 2 years) on a pick 40 and beyond seems high risk

*Salary, FD spend around that player etc etc

I kinda of find the “mummies boy’, ‘going home to mommy’ thing frustrating! Having a close family (chosen or biological) is great thing IMO. Why not wanna be close to your loved ones?

If you can’t relate, pity you 😔

“Luke Jackson’s decision making process” is not exactly on the top of the list of things I want to read about. I imagine it involves Lego figures, crayons and lots of confused frowning.

I thought clubs weren't allowed to court players under contract mid-season?

In hindsight you can tell he was already in Freo from that point on. His heart wasn't in it. I know we were trying to win a flag and also get the most value for him on the trade table but it would have been nice if we could have let him rot out the year in the 2s.

In hindsight, and as ludicrous as it may sound, it now seems that we should have traded him in 2021 after the flag.

To me it looks like with or without the 2021 flag, he was going back to WA. His values was the highest post GF 2021... 🤔

Could've got 8, Cerra --> Jackson, 2nd rounder....

I am 13,000 km away from my family, a decision that was tough but made it on my own. I love them and probably even more so than if I was living close to them, I have the best time every chance I get to visit them.

People tend to take things for granted, but again that's my own personal experience.

I’m still scratching my head at how we lost a generational talent who was a top three pick and Premiership star, and we didn’t even receive a pick in the top 10.

The writing was on the wall once he 'only' signed for 1 year in 2020.

I am confident that if the  MFC rated him as the unicorn, surely they would have offered a longer contract extension?

I had zero problems getting to Perth both times we played them this season nor have I had any problems getting anywhere around Australia or internationally since the borders reopened.

Just be honest Luke. You're looking like a bigger [censored] every time you open your mouth. The Premiership medallion offers you protection from criticism but just don't stray too far into Scully territory.

Because the club he nominated had no capital and we had no bargaining power. He pretended for the cameras that he wasn't doing the dirty on us by not nominating a club but behind closed doors he was only nominating one club.

He or he hiding behind his management [censored] us and we just had to take it.

Still think freo have paid overs for potential

Most said we paid overs for Lever, ended up winning a Flag so if we did it was worth it.

If LJ signed a 7 year deal and plays a part in a winning flag there i'm sure they'll say it was worth it.

You can afford to pay overs if you're bringing in the right person and selecting the right picks.

The Lever deal got us a pick we used on Petty, few years down the line, a great trade for us

Can't say I was impressed with his admission that he was 'gone' after the Bye, that he flew to his mum and checked out the Eagle den as well. Um, doesn't that mean that focus has evaporated? Doesn't that mean that from Round 14 he was going through the motions? I wonder whether his stats curved negative from that point on...

They are pros and committ to every game at 100%...assuming they understand that being a pro doesn't just mean they get paid

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
