Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

And hope Freo crater

Death riding them ...

Look if WC somehow get 8 in mooted JHF deal they're likely to offer something like 8 + F2nd for LJ vs Freo's 13 + F1st.  Then what are we going to do? Ask both of them for a sweetener but it won't be much.

And the question stills hangs out there - what happens if both WA clubs offer tripe for LJ?

Does he do the right thing and sign a new contract with MFC or does he screw the MFC and run home and give us the bird

I'd be a little nervous if I was him - looms as the meat in the sandwich if you ask me

Fremantle have had plenty of time it seems to get their house in order to do a fair trade but look miles off doing so atm

This is why I'd be [censored] off if I was him. I'd be saying to Freo, just get the [censored] thing done.

It's obvious that neither Freo or WCE are prepared to sell the farm for Jackson. Neither club is getting in a bidding war because they don't have to.

My take is that Freo committed to Jackson early this year, and Jackson was sold on the idea. Freo have cooled on what they think Jackson is now worth after his underwhelming season, but don't want to renege on their financial offer.

Freo will get Jackson, but not at the same price they would have given up last year.

So is the idea that we would happily take 13, F1st and F2nd (or 25 this yr) but Freo are baulking? Or are we wanting them to grow that 13 into a top 10 pick before talking?

Who knows, I am just spit balling.

I don't think they have cooled - they just know that he wants to come to them and we would rather get something than nothing.  It's a different situation but not unlike what we're doing to Collingwood re Grundy - holding out 27 is unders but it may end up happening as they need to move on.

Freo never had any intention of offering anything remotely looking like a fair trade.

They assumed WCE would stay out of play due to contract value and because Jackson had not been directly approached by the Eagles.

Could we have played it better by sending clearer messages...who knows

The equation of points is probably meaningless, as we wanted 2 picks inside 10 and I don’t think they will get near that, so more later picks can do the job.

If it was pick 1 and pick 8 without Treacy we would have done the deal the minute trade week started but of course they wouldn’t. My plan is more picks, yes, but that they already have.

I am throwing in Treacy,  a Victorian kid they are not really playing, who may want to go home soon, as they are preferring Amiss, a local. He would not be the deal breaker of course just a wish list spit ball from me.

I am just fearful we are going to get crunched because of Bell.

We wanted 2 picks inside 10 - doesn't mean we thought we would get it!  That was just our starting position.

If we get a top 10 pick (this year) and freo's first next year, then there's a chance that will be top 10 in that draft.

From what I've heard, there is no way they would trade Treacy - he's a developing player in the area of the ground that is their greatest weakness.

Oh ffs... this has been obvious for weeks.

He's going to Freo and MFC will get unders; the only question is whether they can live with the  "unders"  for next season and the one after or whether it's obviously a stich up.

We probably won't know that until the  trades play out over the next 3 seasons or so but we can be sure " dogga" won't be playing for MFC next year.

Meanwhile we wait and hope there's something else more than Grundy that no one has seen coming.

A mobile big body..forward or back?

It doesn't matter what we get for LJ as long as the return is sufficient to complete other trades that we are targeting.

We’ve targeted no one so far so I doubt that’s the case. If Freo hand us 13 and a bunch of other stuff that lets us end up with a top 10 pick and a solid second pick (top 25, ideally better) then Im fine with that. But the market for top 10 picks seems pretty slow right now. Since the Port pick went towards JHF there’s been no public traction

13 + F1 + north’s F2 isnt too bad, but doesnt get us the Cadman.  We have a potential midrange fs next year, so going early there might suit to strike before brown comes into play.  Need to improve this year’s pick significantly before it will get done, either by being able to trade up or they get it in.

What’s the bet the deal is already agreed but the AFL is making Demons & Dockers to string it out to the last couple of days to get more media attention and fans worked up?

7.25pm next Wednesday for sure.

The bit that makes me nervous in all of this is that Wet Toast are sitting back and waiting to see what Freo offer, rather than getting on the front foot and setting a benchmark. It just allows Freo to push this to the death which a) gives them a greater chance of dealing Lobb late and keeping the return b) let’s WC get tempted/distracted by other offers (which is highly possible given they are considered outsiders to get Jackson).

Hoping that Lamb sets a timeline on offers from both clubs (which should be after we deal for Grundy) such that Freo aren’t dictating the play

I read an article where the wce list manager said they hadn't put up on offer for LJ bc they were "waiting to see what the player wants" which tells me that he actually has no desire to go there

We would take that deal in a heart beat. That would value the trade above pick 1 assuming freo and norf finish in somewhat similar positions next year

I'm pretty sure everything at this point is just what's going back to freo.

They've offered up 13, F1, north's F2 which I think were happy to take, but they want at least one current or future second rounder coming back.

DO we have a plan for pick 13??

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
