Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We cld push the Freo low ball onto the Pies Grundy deal.

Ie. ' we wont accept Freo deal and therefore look to sign Jackson up for another year or two, thereby forgoing the Grundy deal, unless Pies accept a late 2 rounder rather than 1st (incl cap support), to which we would accept the Freo deal.

Why would Jackson sign for another one or two? He’ll go into ND or PSD if we don’t get a trade done.

13 + Logue to North for 8

8 + F1st to us for Jackson + 32

This makes sense, however is the longest and messiest option. The JHF news only really broke last night, while it has been bubbling under the service, so it's likely to take a very long time for them (Port & Nth) to work through. Unlike our talks with Freo which would have been happening for weeks. In fact there's so many deals this trade period that are just messy and relying on other deals to be done first.

Then what do we use for Grundy? Please god not a 1st rounder 🙏

PS. I like the idea of Freo's future 1st, bc I wonder if they might slide back a little and also because of the quality of next years draft

After North loses a kid from interstate they are not going to take another ‘wantaway’ player in the PSD. The only leverage we have is with WCE being in the race for him. But that comes with the not insignificant chance of us getting nothing for him.

We are going to settle for less than market because Freo just won’t be able to get near market for him.

North get him for free, even if it's only for a year or so, so they are in the equation.  They will know they won't get him long term but even short term with loads of salary cap space, they may as well grab him for a year or so

Back in 2012/2013 we would have acquired such a player and taken the chance that he might stay longer

However, I highly doubt it would get that far anyway.  But we need to hold firm

By the way, I still value Jackson highly.  He has the potential to be an A grade player.  So in effect, we need to have a keeper mentality

As previously noted, the club has almost certainly told Freo what we need in return so they need to come to the party

I was thinking that too.

However If he's that home sick and absolutely must return to WA (which he must be if he's quitting the club he won a flag at) and a trade can't be arranged then I think there's more chance he sits out a year of footy then comes back to the MFC.

I'm sure a trade will be arranged though even if we have to accept unders. He's out of contract so we don't hold the whip hand. If he was under contract then we could ask for overs.

If he can't get to WA and doesn't go to North I'd prefer him to sit out rather than play a year at Melbourne.  That would be disruptive in all sorts of ways.  (But a deal will be done is much more likely.)

I bet you one billion dollars Jackson doesn't end up at North. It's simply not in play.

WC list manager says they are definitely in the hunt for Jackson.

This is a very good scenario for us as it keeps Freo honest during discussions and if they genuinely want him they have the trade capital to get it done.

WC are just saying this to keep the PSD threat live.

They said they'd be open to splitting pick 2 so you're completely wrong. Not only that, there is zero bad blood between Jackson and club and I'd be absolutely astonished if Jackson rejected a move to West Coast if Freo couldn't make the deal work. The amount of posters who believe the PSD is a risk is funny really. It would take an incredibly rare turn of events for it to go down that path from here.

West Coast's interest puts pressure on Freo to get it done.

We'll be fine either way.

Forces Freo to get it done otherwise West Coast will pounce.

Your second paragraph assumes your first paragraph hypothesis is wrong. It’s a risk or it’s not.

Its a risk and I hope it gets Freo to give up something of value.

At no stage did I ever say that Jackson will end up at North

But it is a possibility if an agreement isn't made with Freo or West Coast

Same as when Nick Stevens ended up at Carlton (pre-season draft) when Port wouldn't accept unders from Collingwood in a trade

And I'd be surprised if we don't reach an agreement with one of the WA clubs (probably Freo) for Jackson

But I'll take the Billion to 1 odds anyway ... I'll have a fiver on at those odds

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
