Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Then why doesn't every Victorian kid that wants to come home, say they are open to go to the club that has the most draft capital to offer. These deals are orchestrated well in advance.

And who knows, Jackson may be like Buddy and end up at the club that no one suspected. I haven't been told he's going to Freo.

Well if he lands at Eagles we get pick 2 and maybe a player. That just about guarantees  us a key forward in the draft.

I don't think WC can trade that pick this year?

They can with AFL permission - which would be almost a foregone conclusion.

Surely West Coast can still feature in all this?

I don’t understand why it is not even been spoken of. His reason is to return to WA. Like Cerra tried to get to us he was more than happy to go to Carlton when it was obvious we couldn’t trade with Freo.

If we cannot reach a suitable agreement with Freo, then we pick up the phone to Eagles and ask for pick 2/3 and call it a day.

I think the fact that LJ wants to leave and that staying in Melbourne is not an option has lessened what we will get for him.

Cake and eating it is the metaphor

Money, Premiership and home all delivered by Freo

Why do the hard yards with WCE

We have been so outplayed here it is starting to become laughable

Funny thing is that he may end up at WCE by default

I am still hopeful Luke Jackson will sign a 2 or 3 year contract to win another Premiership with the Demons. Why leave when you have the chance to win another Premiership or more? I under home sickness is a factor but what about loyalty to your team mates?

However, the longer this drags on the less likely this will happen and he will return to Perth. If we are to lose Luke Jackson to either West Coast or Fremantle we need to be fairly compensated.

This means either a good quality player and a first round draft pick or 2 first round draft picks. Remember, it cost us 2 first round draft picks to Adelaide to get Jake Lever so I see that as being the ideal trade deal for us to ask for from either Fremantle or West Coast.

My take on all this Luke Jackson rubbish.

I honestly don't think Luke Jackson is worth more than 600k per yr at the maximum until he proves himself as a consistent player. He is 20 years old and the entitlement is beyond me. Have some balls and take a look at your situation you [censored] [censored]!

In saying that we do not know the real reason he may want to go home, but let's assume there is nothing urgent such as an ill family member who he'd want to be around.

- He was drafted into a premiership winning team, unlike Freo who have not proven themselves yet, they could absolutely crap it in the finals. He could win another premiership possibly even a third at Melbourne.

- He is being mentored by possibly the best Ruckman in the modern era in Max Gawn. He clearly won't learn the same from a 24 year old Darcy and certainly has so much more to learn from Max.

- If he signs for only an additional 2 years his best years between 22-30yrs old are still in front of him. I mean come on have some perspective, you can take your $1M per year then, I mean he bought a [censored] house at age 20, money is in abundance here.

- From what I've heard and seen he has a good group of friends surrounding him in Melbourne not the least of which are his bloody awesome teammates. So why leave now?

- Moving clubs this early could potentially disrupt his development and career. Idk how it is in football but to me it seems you want some continuity as an AFL player, especially at such a young age and the connection he has built with the club at this point will have been wasted. He needs to remain in this uninterrupted environment until he has some more years under his belt.

With all that said, I'm sure enough of his mentors, managers and advisors with their heads screwed on have pointed out all of these very reasonable takes on his situation and to be frank if he still decides to bail on success at one very good Club for a premature return to home you can't help the kid. Disappointing to say the least.

Scott Thompson

Jeff Farmer

Jesse Hogan

And potentially Luke Jackson

do the Dees have trouble retaining our interstate talent?

Hoping Jackson stays but if not, let’s reset, demand 2 x 1st rounders ( get Aaron Cadman and Brayden George) and then get a 2nd Ruck/Fwd (like Haydn McLean) on less than 1/2 the money.

No. In fact I think this comment is a bit of an overreaction SONS.

In the 21 year period since Farmer has left we've lost, as you pointed out, 3 other players to back home.

I think if anything that's a fantastic strike rate compared to the likes of Fremantle, Brisbane, GWS and Gold Coast.

Cadman would be the dream get for me.

Problem with that is I don’t see us getting the two first round picks - prepare to be disappointed

Personally if Fremantle is his preferred I’d rather walk him to the PSD and Norf - why would we accept unders and make one of our main competitors stronger

So we make our main competitors stronger and we walk away with absolutely nothing by walking to the PSD?

I couldn't think of anything worse. There is zero gain from doing that.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
