Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL Trade Period

i think we might have a look at a cal sinclair or sam naismith type from the swans both OOC and Naismith a UFA next season to fill that role for a few seasons given Daw's age and presumed frailty long term. Also could stanley or save be available once ceglar joins on

Sinclair has signed on to a new deal and Naismith is always injured. Ceglar is to replace Fort, Geelong won’t give anyone else up

We’ll go in with the 3 rucks we had last year and attempt to find a good young ruck in the draft, spp or even next years mid-season draft.

We didn’t even have Majak on the list at this time last year. The entire history of the Goodwin/Taylor list we’ve always gone lighter than heavier on rucks

What a great time to be top with young list!

with salary cap squeeze and not many players available teams are not able to fill their gaps

we didn't need anyone but we still got a decent mid depth player

it is hard to fathom the change in the past 8 years

I seem to be on my own on recruiting Brander, who we would get for basically nothing. He would come at a low salary and for probably as low a pick as there is. His manager is suggesting he might become a DFA and that is a free swing.

Seems like the other clubs don't rate him.

I would rather him than M. Brown or Baker for that matter but that bird has flown.

I think the only question remaining for the media to ask is…

’Will this go down as the most boring trade period ever?’

Except it’ll be all Murdoch clickbaity and read more like…

’You won’t believe what this AFL star trade period bombshell’ (because they don’t even bother to spellcheck their headlines anymore) - followed by a story featuring Matt Rendell saying it was a ‘surprisingly’ dull trade period.

There was nothing much happening on the trade front today which provides a good argument for the proposition that the trade period is way too long. They could easily wrap up the whole shebang in four days to relieve us of all of the unseemly posturing that goes on interminably for day upon day …

It all unravels tomorrow.

Agree on the birds that have flown but the only position I like for him is 3rd tall defender, similar to Tomlinson.

Whilst he’s free is he going to sign with a club where he’s the back up to the back up?

And from our point of view do we use a list spot on a player slightly better than other free alternatives but not where we need to be investing?

He plays like he is scared is the reason, and the market for receivers with no x-factor is very small.  There’s a game where he costs the Eagles three goals by not being unconditional at the contest.  And hes never shown contested marking ability of any not to be a genuine KPP!

Dawson for pick 18 is an absolute steal!

Swans should have held out for a second rounder in addition. just because it is technically a first rounder doesn't mean much

That is the issue with Pre-season Draft, bottom teams can hold you to ransom, you either take that pick or get nothing for him

They would have been better off taking the original offer of pick 17, which Adelaide clearly had on the hook.

Swans obstinance allowed us to jump in on the deal and get 17.

Its a bit rich for Port and Cats to demand 1st round picks for players on their lists for several years that they hardly ever play.

I hope Freo hold off on pick # 19 which is a lot more valuable than it sounds as it is the first pick after draft day 1 and can demand a premium in a pick trade on that night.

And the cheek of Port on Ladhams: weazel-word a 'he is available to trade but we are happy to keep him' message then demand pick #18 from Sydney.  Hope Sydney hold firm, having just been worked over by the Crows for Dawson.  Valuing Dawson and a 2nd ruckman (Ladhams) at the same pick makes a mockery of the whole system.

I get that it is all posturing but I really hope Freo and Sydney don't give in.

Apparently their list managers have been having long lunches with Dodoro and he has rubbed off on them.

According to Sam Edmund, Clark and List Manager Wells at Geelong just had a heated phone conversation and in the end Clark hung up on him.

It is really rich to demand pick 19 for a player you don't play in your side most weeks, after several years with your club and especially as you have been offered pick 22. Some clubs are creating trouble for themselves in this trade period.

I note that our policy has been to pay a fair price to get a deal done, as it will come back to help next time. Some clubs are creating trading enemies over their "must win every trade" philosophy.

Players and managers are watching this happen with great interest.

We are saying the same thing about Cats not playing Clark then demanding the highly valuable pick #19

Half decent ruckman always seem to have a high premium in comparison to rebounding defenders which are easier to trade in/draft.

It will be interesting to see what the other 3-5 ruckman on the table get trade for.  Suspect it will be nothing like our future 1st round pick Port is posturing for.

Ladhams is actually a pretty good player, similar to Jolly before he left the Dees. The others have barely played hence they should not attract a pick in the top 50.

Hilarious that Clark is holding the Cats accountable for his poor development and making the move to Freo happen.

Geelong will get shafted by Freo and I am loving it.

Freo have lost the plot if they give up 19 for Clark

Pick 22 is not being shafted for a player you don't play.

Cats would win that trade. He’s not in their best 22 and seems to be out of favour or going backwards.  Pick 22 to add, means cats get 4 picks between 22-34 and helps the cats big time.

From what I've seen of him I don't rate him at all.

I reckon he was a liability in their forward half and not much use in the ruck.

...but I haven't seen a lot of him.

Agree. That's what I said. Cats nevertheless want more than just 22.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
